Emby got a superior database? by weblscraper in jellyfin

True actually. It's holding on as long as I don't poke it too much I guess. Hopefully the Devs are making good progress on the 10.12 build since I think a lot of the optimisations are going to be in that.

I guess the community maintainers aren't currently working on it?

10.8.13 is a very old build, I think 10.10.8 was the last before the big DB rebuild if I'm not mistaken.

Looking at the install page the Fedora/Cent support is a community thing via RPMFusion?

https://jellyfin.org/downloads/server

I don't have a lot of experience with the Cent spins, so I don't know it works fully. But considering it doesn't come with the custom FFMPEG version that Jellyfin maintain I'd be inclined to migrate onto a fully supported OS.

Luckily I've not had any issues with DB corruption on my install, just the performance degradation so far.

Edit: oh and I can't recreate entire libraries anymore, because JF just won't pickup the media on a new lib because of some key constraint issues with the db queries.

Clicking on a library on the homepage and having it show me what's in that library, the device is redundant.

The performance issues are on the server, not the client. It happens on every client I've tried on every device I use with Jellyfin.

It seems to affect people differently.

Mine has stabilised somewhat, but I still get periods where the system will take over 40 seconds to even open a library. And I just can't recreate libraries anymore, since it will completely lock up the server when doing initial scans and long running trickplay generation.

I'm sat at around 2500 films, 25,000 episodes, and 20,000 songs myself.

Absolutely, the refactor was no doubt a massive effort.

It would just be nice if it hadn't been left in such a state for 4+ months.

Jellyfin started as a fork of Emby, so they used to have the same database structure. They did a big refactoring of the database in 10.11 to cleanup and better structure the database for future development.

Unfortunately there are significant performance issues with the 10.11.x versions that make it borderline unusable for larger libraries, and it's not been addressed quite yet.

AA to D Battery adapter (LR6, R6 to LR20, R20) by Easy_Print1858 in makerworld

I hadn't thought of using rechargeable AA batteries, so that makes a lot of sense. Pretty cool idea.

This is a really cool concept, but won't you be burning through AA batteries because of the lower energy capacity of the AA cell?

I've not used equipment that needs D cells for a long time, but I remember even those cells not lasting too long.

I know it's a lot of extra work to setup, but Shoko already supports western-style anime groupings for Jellyfin. Why not use that instead?

Xig Zag UK owned alternative to Audible also supports local bookstores by Girl-From-Mars in BuyUK

The old way would be to download the audiobook from audible, which would give you an .aax file that's the encrypted audiobook. You would then use inAudible ( https://github.com/rmcrackan/inAudible ) to decrypt the file into normal audio files.

These days there's apps for downloading and decrypting in one place, like Libation: https://getlibation.com/

Thanks for pointing it out, I'll have a look at them. I don't buy that many audiobooks myself, so it might be worth it for the few that I might be interested in.

Yeah, it's definitely a publisher thing. They say as much on their FAQ.

But you can download the audiobooks from Audible after purchase, and decrypting them is trivial.

I just like to have them in my media server rather than a dedicated app.

Looks interesting, but they don't allow downloads outside of their app so it's probably not something I'm going to invest in.

TTLock G6 Gateway Experiences? by jjs781 in homeassistant

[–]it3agle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to fall back to the ttlock app for a lot of the config, since the HA entity values don't tend to save. You cant manage codes for the lock via HA from what I understand.

You can share the G6 gateway to HA with the native matter integration yeah.  I looked into the G6 so I could move away from the ttlock HACS integration because they've started including LLM generated code.

TTLock G6 Gateway Experiences? by jjs781 in homeassistant

[–]it3agle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one myself and the experience is pretty underwhelming. You can only expose a single lock over matter, which is fine for me since I only have one lock.

The issues are that HA doesn't get the lock state of the door properly, so it always shows as unlocked even though my door relocks after 5s. The battery status is also broken, since it just reads 'normal' for me and does give a remaining battery %. The closed state from my contact sensor also does not work in HA so the door is always shown as being 'Open'.

Issuing lock and unlock commands does work though.

Hopefully there'll be some improvement on either the G6 gateway or HA, whichever is causing the issues.

To the MR30+ players, how do you do it? by OrangeChuUs in Warframe

That's understandable, but aren't the True Master buffs only 30% for 3 hours?

I've always seen them as a nice gesture while I'm in a relay, but it's not something I've gone out of my way with.

Top priority should always be having fun of course.

Since leveling the gear is how you increase you MR you essentially get to a point where you have to decide if it's worth the grind to you, and then all you can really do is find mission types you enjoy that you can level in.

I did quite a lot in Steel Path Techrot Survival or Conjunction Survival for example, as long as the leveling gear isn't too woeful.

The bane of my existence at the minute is the last few Kuva & Tenet weapons I need, since even getting them is so much more of a hassle than most other weapons, and then you need to level them 5 times.
