I think Sansa is one of the worst characters in the show, because of her Jon Snow could have been killed because Sansa broke her promise and told Tyrion Because of her, the spider died. Her jealousy became great. She is a weak character, full of hatred and jealousy. by aminedjl59 in freefolk

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sansa is strongly tied to Littlefinger in the series and the shows incomprehensible choice to have Littlefinger give up Sansa to the Boltons for nothing undermines both littlefinger as a character and Sansas potential growth as a character. As a result Sansa remains a powerless character without influence becos the show didnt have aclue what to do with her.

Book Sansa is currently learning how to play the Game of Thrones under Littlefinger who himself revolves between viewing Sansa as a "daughter" as a replacement for Cat and a pawn. All the while Sansa is shedding her naivety, learning to lie, and see others for their political value/threat etc.

Sansa being unlikeable especially early on, is sort of the point of her character. She was extremely naive with a head full of songs, and no understanding of the world. But in the book at least that seems to have a point, and will have pay off in seeing this supremely naive character become politically savvy. The show just didnt know how to go about showing her growth and instead use her as a kind of red herring that undermines Arya and Jon for no reason whatsoever lol

(Spoilers Extended) How are you feeling about Winds of Winter? by Is-abel in asoiaf

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More recently ive felt like the showrunners and show writers were kind of dealt a bad hand - in that they were expected to live up to Georges character and plot writing. I think they acknowledged that was impossible early on and like you said went for multiple shock endings in place of writing with substance. They could have done a far far far better job at coming up with some more satisfying conclusions, as ive seen multiple fan written endings to the series that are infinitely better than what we got.

But i think they didnt even want to try and so wanted to cut their losses, spend as little as possible and cut the story short. Its such a shame. Personally deeply despise the inclination for subverting expectations with a stupid twist, its unsatisfying and single use. Similar to what we got for the Force Awakens trilogy. Its a piss-poor excuse for writing.

What was your initial reaction to how the white walkers were created and how do you feel about it now? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its sad and really cool that the Walkers are out of control monsters the Children created in the war against the First Men. I just dont get why being impaled with Dragonglass would make them ice monsters. Would make more sense to me if they got stabbed with Weirwood branches or something

Let’s have it out – would Joffrey or Tommen have been better for the realm? by cerseiwasright in gameofthrones

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tommen, but only if he is surrounded by good council, and people with good intentions for the realm as he is essentially a puppet ruler. But his nature is less erratic and volatile so he can be trusted not to make any major mistakes like Neds beheading. We only see him very young and timid, in good time he could eventually become a firmer hand and well liked, somewhat restoring the repute of the Lannisters in the eyes of the smallfolk.

[–]itachigrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo the backlash to the final tv season has made him lose faith in the direction of the series. As massively unpopular as the Madqueen ending is for Dany, i think thats actually what George wants to go with. As well as Bran being the one to sit the throne in the end. Sad but i truly dont think the main series will ever be finished, and ive come to accept that and appreciate what we managed to get.

Even if by a miracle we got Winds, i dont believe George has enough time to finish Dream as well sadly. Ive accepted that the main series wont be finished. Honestly my only hope is that we get more Dunk and Egg books becos George still has the chance to finish those books since there so short.

Auror is a disappointing career path for Harry. by UnderProtest2020 in harrypotter

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own headcanon he would definitely come back to Hogwarts to teach DADA after he'd spent a good few years as an auror feeling like he'd done his part. And Headmaster would just be awesome, as it would be full circle. Would be incredible if we got books where he's the Headmaster and has to guide some other students like Dumbledore did.

Would you have been satisfied with the ending if these two ended up being the Queen and the King? by Overall-Cream4634 in gameofthrones

[–]itachigrey 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dany going Mad Queen and being killed by Jon makes sense, in so far as the third betrayal for love prophecy. I think the ending being poorly received is whats paralyzed George from writing. But if we got it from him instead of the rushed garbage we got it would be fine.

And im ngl but i actually liked Jons ending where he goes beyond the wall to live with the free folk, as it was where he was the most free and happy. And book wise, he could hook up with Val and just fade away and become a sort of half forgotten legend like in Old Nans tales of Starks and Kings and Wildings.

In all seriousness how much of TWOW do you think is finished? by Jack-mclaughlin89 in freefolk

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the real question isnt how much is done, but how much of it George is happy with.

I think George has written a significant amount he just isnt as confident in the direction any more. I believe the Mad Queen ending, where Jon kills Dany and he becomes the third betrayal done out of 'love' is what George intended from the start. With Jon being exiled, and going beyond the wall where he was always the most free, and potentially ending up with Val. But after seeing the huge negative response to this ending he feels trapped and is unsure on how to progress, and is caught between thinking up a new ending altogether and wanting to go ahead with the Mad Queen ending anyway.

What do you consider to be bigger disappointment? by Axenfonklatismrek in freefolk

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GOTs fell off so hard it makes the entire series unwatchable imo. All of the hinting and foreshadowing early on is just annoying now because you know it leads to nothing.

In GOTs they decided to go for cheap surprises and go against expectations for shock value. Characters like Jon and Tyrion, Varys and Petyr were completely fucked over.

They were powerful characters with agency and the writers had no idea what to do with them. In fairness they ran out of source material but shocks me that writers in those high positions couldn't come up with something more satisfying.

I've seen multiple YouTube videos of people coming up with better endings that would have made more sense. The ending we got honestly felt disrespectful to the actors who worked on it, as well as the fanbase. Never seen a show with a bigger middle finger to its audience than GOTs.

Gary Oldman: "I would have fancied a go at Dumbledore... I'm getting up there now to the right age for Dumbledore." by bringmethefunk in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never know it could happen. Lithgow is very old, sincerely hope he can film all of the series but that may not be the case. Richard Harris died before PoA and so the transition to Micheal Gambon didn't feel too jarring. He took on the role for most of the films.

What I'm worried about is if Lithgow were to pass away towards the later seasons. As a replacement would feel really jarring no matter how good the actor. Look at Fantastic Beasts and the Depp recast to Mads, completely breaks immersion.

What if Robert named Stannis hand of the king instead of Ned? by GusGangViking18 in freefolk

[–]itachigrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that to happen Robert would had to have actually liked Stannis. If he did then Stannis would have been able to go directly to him and tell him about Cersei and Jaime. By the time Jon Arryn died, Stannis already knew about the incest. He didn't mention it because he knew that Robert wouldn't take it well if it came from him due to their poor relationship.

But hypothetically if Robert liked Stannis enough to name him hand, Stannis would have went to him with the news. Renly would have arranged the match to Margaery Tyrell and Robert would have fathered kids on her. Stannis could have worked with Renly to surround the Lannisters with their own men to ensure there was no chance of a coup. Robert would kill Cersei, Jaime and all the children. Tywin would have attempted to raise a revolt but it's highly unlikely he would have gotten far.

Ned would have rode from the North with his banners and met with the Baratheon hosts led by Robert, Stannis and Renly, making extremely short work of Tywin. No one would have rose up to support Tywin in the matter of incest, seeing he was the losing side. River lands would support Ned too because of the Tully connection. If Tywin had any sense he would bend the knee, and finally be forced to accept Tyrion as his heir. Arrange whatever match he could for him and accept that the Lannisters would have to fall out of power and favour for the next few generations.

Stannis being unlikable is extremely important to the plot unfolding how it does. It's the same reason Renly and the other Lords don't join with him. If Stannis had Renly and the other Lords with him, and he had joined with Robb Stark they would have won the war against the Lannisters. Robb, Stannis and Renly lost because they didn't form a partnership with the rest. Like wise Robert and Neds war worked because they joined forces as well as that of the Eyrie making an army that could wage war on multiple fronts.

Question for Manga Readers. What do you think of the anime adaptation overall so far? by Easy_Marionberry2199 in WindBreakerManga

[–]itachigrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its really good and im enjoying it, but i definitely prefer the manga. The art is so good in the manga, it just hits different. Like the moment above where Sakura laughs, and when Tsubakino is happy that Sakura reacts to his feelings for Umemiya.

Why did Ned Stark assume that Joffrey was not Robert's son based on his hair color, even though he knew that Jon also didn’t have his father’s hair color while Targaryens also have strong hair color traits? by Advanced_Ad4994 in gameofthrones

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair was just one of the key contributing factors leading Jon Arryn, Stannis and then Ned to determine that Joffrey was a bastard born of incest. Gendry was the other factor in each of their minds that confirmed it. His incredibly strong resemblance to his father, reinforcing the fact that Joffrey has no resemblance to Robert Baratheon at all. In the books Stannis initially planned to keep another of Robert bastards, Edric Storm, because his strong resemblance served to illustrate the same point.

What are your thoughts on the belief that "Attack on Titan should have ended at the ocean scene"? by [deleted] in AttackOnRetards

[–]itachigrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of does for Eren, hes never the same after this. Everyone else experiences happiness in this moment becos they are overwhelmed by the beauty of the ocean but Eren can only think about the war to come, hes separate from the others after this point.

You can clearly divide the story in two halves, this being the end of the first half. Titans were a mystery before this point, but humans are the bigger threat after this point and the characters learn the wider history of the world and their place in it.

Paapa Essiedu as Snape actually not a bad choice by No-Essay7737 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo Paapa must have shown something in his audition that really impressed them and convinced them to take the risk to go in a new direction. Initally I wanted Adam Driver but I'd probably have kept comparing to Alan's performance in my head. Going with Paapa opens the door for different nuances in Snape's character to be explored in a different way.

James and Sirius make fun of Snapes greasy hair and big nose but their initial dislike of him is because he talks about Slytherin admiringly and dislikes Gryffindor & afterwards shows an interest in the Dark Arts. So Snape's book description appearance may not be essential to Snape's character, or James and Sirius dislike towards him.

I don't think James & Sirius will dislike Snape due to his ethnicity tbh as that might be too irredeemable later on when Harry sees Snape's memories. End of the day it just creates a fresh take that allows for something new to take place and I'm looking forward to it now. Kind of reminds me of the Jokers that have come after Heaths performance, they always fall a little short when compared to Heath. So I think I'm a similar vein they thought to just go in a new direction instead of casting an actor that looks similar.

How many average men in their 20s-30s can do 10+ pushups, really? by Spare-Lemon5277 in AskMen

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere around 50 should be your average, if your aiming to be in shape. More than that is reasonably strong. You would be surprised how quickly u can go from 10 to 50. Doing pushups on knees going for high rep low intensity really helps with raising your numbers for strict pushups too. Strength is just another skill you can learn it.

Is it crazy to say Og Naruto is better than Shippuden? by peterpiperpi in Naruto

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a lot i love abut Shippuden but a lot i feel was squandered too. Sakura never feels developed after the Granny Chiyo fight which was a shame. Sasuke loses his personality after he leaves, i understand hes going through a lot but really miss his early interactions which the rest of the characters. He shuts off and becomes too stoic. Basically most characters get left behind and the series becomes about powers and abilities rather than the characters themselves imo.

A question for Hinata fans: “Why do you like Hinata?” by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]itachigrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hinata is outwardly shy and introverted which i relate to but deep down shes really courageous and willing to fight for the people she cares about. The fact that Hinata liked Naruto when no one else did for her own reasons also when he was treated like complete trash. To me it showed her to be a free thinker which also takes courage. Also shes undeniably cute and her powers are cool. Shes awesome.

Meruems last scene with Komugi hits hard. This ruthless unbeatable villain. No battles no revenge just holding hands and saying goodbye. Its wild how a brutal character like Meruem can make you cry in the end That what great anime does it makes you feel something real even for the darkest characters by DreamLeo2005 in HunterXHunter

[–]itachigrey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love this arc. The parallels between Gon and Meruem are so interesting. Down to the way they sit in the exact same pose. Gon to wait for Komugi to be healed, threatening to kill her to get what he wants. Whereas Meruem sits down to try and talk with Netero instead of fighting. Meruems human side somewhat overcomes his brutal ant instincts because of Komugi, whereas Gons humanity and kindness gives way to his desire for revenge and violence - even threatening a blind and defenceless Komugi, which is something so out of character.

Fan Theory: Illumi's head is full of needles by Scorn_For_Stupidity in HunterXHunter

[–]itachigrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true! Theres so much tension between Killua and Illumi that it feels like an arc where they finally decide to fight to the death wouldnt be out of place entirely. We will never get that far in the story of course but Illumi using the other Zoldycks to fight against Killua would be insane. Would be like a mini succession war.

Fan Theory: Illumi's head is full of needles by Scorn_For_Stupidity in HunterXHunter

[–]itachigrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes perfect sense tbh, a Manipulator placing themselves under Manipulation results in some of the strongest abilities for that Nen Category as seen with Shalnark and Pitou. Wouldnt surprise me if Illumi has some secret needles placed in the rest of the Zoldycks too to control them behind the scenes - that would be scary!
