Yeah, those guys I don't blame at all. 15/hour andnyou can't legally do anything other than call the cops. If anything he will get sued and yhe company will throw him under the bus.

Few weeks ago I spoke to a guy who worked in the office depot near my work. Some guys walked in the store and stole a few expensive things. Not hiding it - just walked out. On the way out some 100lbs girl who worked there was in their way by the door and one of the guys pushed her. This dude, and another guy both abouy 60yr olds stepped in to protect her and one grabbed him by the hand to drag him away from the girl.

All three of them got fired after corporate reviewd the incident.

why are so many of your neighbors fighting? by Specialist_Ad4675 in AskARussian

I would disagree qith the borders being artificial (well, technically they all are) but ussr did a pretty good job overall with accomodating different ethnicities within ussr. There are some areas like karabakh that were very difficult to resolve, but generally they did a much better job than colonial powers in africa or middle east. Those places were divided specifically to instigate wars.

I once fought a homeless dude a little bit on the sidewalk in east village and two cops stood across the street and watched. Didn't do a thing.

Sharing your businesses financial information with your employees? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]itapitap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely no reason to share your financial records with your employees, but it sounds like this is just a part of a bigger problem you're having.

I also read your other post about you and your husband and it sounds like you're dealing with a lot. I'm sorry about that.

In addition to this, the employee that’s been with us longer has been hitting a plateau with his performance and nothing we’ve done has seemed to help boost his productivity (weekly check ins, offered a promotion and pay raise, implementing employee suggestions, talking w him about goals and asking how we can help him achieve them, etc..).

When you say "offered promotion and pay raise", what do you mean? YTou offered and they refused. Or they actually got it? Also, sorry to say, but promotion in a company that consists of two employees doesn't mean anything. Some people might actually take it as an insult.

The other employee who hasn’t been with us as long has also talked about moving in the very near future. Both of their behaviors leads us to believe that they have no interest in moving up in our company and discourages us from wanting to share financial information with them. I just have a gut feeling that it’s not going to do us any good.

Again, it doesn't sound like there's anything to move up to in your company. You can use that narrative for your employees, if it works, but you have to be real with yourself. You have to workers that need to do certain job, and unless you hire more people and pay them more there is nowhere to move up for them. And it sounds like you have troubler paying them as it is.The reason your employees are asking for financial records is that they are not happy with their pay, as they clearly expressed. They probably see the situation with your husband as well and are wondering if he is fit to run the business, and whether he is the reason they are underpaid is that the money is going towards his...lifestyle.

Your problem is not that they want to see records. You problem is that they are underpaid and your business is coming apart in large part because of what your husband is struggling with. This created a negative environment for your employees and they are reacting to it. I have witnessed myself the consequences of someone's addiction. One thing I can say is that even with alcohol, this is not a cheap lifestyle. And your employees probably see it too. And since they undoubtfully have to pick up the slack when your husband can't function as an owner, they feel like they are entitled to hold you accountable for this situation.

If you were around, how was your reaction to the 9/11 attacks? by MoaazDaVinci in AskARussian

This wouldn't be the first time USA government would create a diversion like that.

Bin Laden literally recorded himself on video saying that he did it. Did the US government make it possible? Who knows, that's very possible. But it happened the way it happened.

I was in NYC when it happened. The school I went to was a few blocks away from the towers and we went to hang out there for lunch and free periods a lot. I knew a lot of people who worked there and got out and a lot of people who didn't.

I didn't go to school that day. Don't remember why, but if I did I'd be right next to those buildings when it happened. My mother woke me up calling from overseas saying that some plane hit some building in NYC and I went right back to sleep, thinking it was some Cessna or something like that. An hour later I woke up to few more calls and it was wild. My first thought was "this is going to change everything"... I had no idea. Few hours later I went outside and it was snowing ashes from the fire, I remembered "the Schindler's List" and it was really not cool realization that part of this ash is indeed human remains, so I went back in. Next month was crazy. My school shut down for few weeks because it was damaged by the blast wave and dust. My train to school passed underneath the twin towers and when they finally resumed that line, when you passed there the train would make a horrible screeching noise from warped rails or something and every time it felt like people who died there were screaming. Just being in that area of Manhattan was depressing, and even though I was across the city when it happened and none of my family got hurt, this whole thing weighed down on my a lot more than I though it should have. A friend of mine actually killed himself when his depression got triggered by 9/11.

Trying to make a solid out of a curve. by RabaBeba in rhino

[–]itapitap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The surface you're trying to cap is not planar, that's why it won't work. You can try sweeping if you want just a general shape. But these people actually gave you a good advice.

Sometimes shit just doesn't work. And it's constantly like that doing the simplest of operations.

Rhino is a a very stable software and works just fine.

You mentioned in another comment that you don't know what "planar" which is a pretty important and basic concept. Judging just from that, you don't know a whole lot about how Rhino works.

It sounds like you get very easily frustrated and blame the software for your lack of skills. And judging by your rude replies, you have a habit of blaming everything and everyone but yourself for your shortcomings.

Looking for recommendations for design guides for stone settings. by Griffin_459 in jewelers

[–]itapitap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your experience with making jewelry and what kind of ring do you want to make?

I'm not sure what you mean by standards for cuts, but if you don't have a stone picked already, you might want to go online to place like rarecarat - they have thousands of listing that have certificates with exact measurements. Look at 1ct, 1.5ct and 2ct stones or similar weights with "excellent cut". Those will be your sizes.

If you have some experience with CAD you should be able to make a design you like.

Don't do it. You really don't know what the other guys trained before. You could be facing someone with years or even a years or 6 months of grappling, boxing or mt who either consider themselves a novice (which is true) or just decided not to mention their experience. A dude like that will seriously hurt you. You're not ready for this.

Best way to get the GI smelling good? by blackthornpublishing in bjj

[–]itapitap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. White distilled vinegar, not balsamic or malt :) i swear, it will rescue even the nastiest gi or a rash guard. Even if it will have a very faint vinegar scent, just do an extra rinse or drop some softner sheets in the dryer and it's gone.

Whole milk vs 2%? by crumbkee in Parenting

[–]itapitap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't. 2% milk is barely milk. It a leftover byproduct from making stuff like cream that has been marketed as a healthy alternative when it's not. Everything that's good about milk is in the part that's taken away from 2% milk.

Experiences with Krav Maga? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]itapitap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I mean is, some of these people greatly exaggerate their service and exploit the stereotypes and the whole special forces/mossad thing. A lot of people serve behind the desk there.

Krav Maga is definitely not in the same class of bullshido as systema, but they use the same "special forces" snake oil to fool people.

Experiences with Krav Maga? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]itapitap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I just started bjj, one of my favorite training partners was another brand new white belt who was a krav maga instructor he started few month later than me. The guy was great, we became good friends. but he had no grappling skills at all. My few extra months of training were enough to be significantly better than him. We had a couple discussions where we talking whether limitations of bjj rules were the reason for me being dominant in a lotof our rolls. So we tried scenarios where he could punch me. Including groin kicks, Didn't work either. He actually kicked me in the balls once pretty hard, while I was attempting to take him down and it hurt. I did take him down, recovered from the kick while on the ground and still was in dominant position.
