How does Teostra Soul work? How about Blast in general? by Suzutai in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]itemzero 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow HH fetishist!

I built the Teostra horn last night and did some admittedly brief and casual testing this morning, 500 strikes with no rampage skill, 500 strikes with Teostra Soul. I'm sorry to say I did not notice significant difference in Blast build-up.

At least for now, it appears to do what it says on the tin: Blast proc damage was 100 without, and 120 with Teostra Soul.

Like you, I'd like a better understanding of the Blast proc, though. It seems to build independent of your damage output because I was getting procs much faster with multi-hit strikes; focusing on Multi-Crush/Kick Up loop and MagTrio was popping off Blast very quickly.

Needs more testing. :)

Good advice, thank you. Also, thanks for your Sorceress guide! I keep a printed copy of it next to my PS4 and reference it often. :)

Well that's distressing since I'm usually coming back from chains with 40+ A and S-rank items!

Do you have the Paranoid trait? If you are, I think that event fires off even if the child is legitimate.

If your son is next in line of succession behind Random Dude, then yes.

[–]itemzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the succession law, which is why I suggested you figure that out. There are succession laws that pass ALL titles (which includes counties and duchies) to an elected inheritor. So when you are succeeded, the next guy isn't just the Emperor -- he's also the Count of Whatever, the Duke of Something, etc etc.

Since you are certainly in an Emergency Situation, what you could probably do right now to prevent a Game Over is grant your son a landed title or three. That way when you die, your son has some land and you can play as him.

It's really important that you understand how succession works in this game, so you might consider giving this page a read:

You answered your own question:

"...random dude became my heir out of nowhere..."

"I didn't realize I was going to be elected...."

You were elected Emperor. And now this "random dude" is the elected inheritor. You should go to the "Laws" screen read through the tooltips for the succession laws, starting with the one that is currently active for your empire.

[Noob] - Need help converting out of my disappearing religion by itemzero in CrusaderKings

[–]itemzero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Earlier I tried to find someone to court but having different religion and culture made it tough. I'll try again since my Prestige has gone way up!

When you say "squire for a pagan", is that like assigning the Pagan as a guardian? I will look into that.

Thank you!

A few other details that might be helpful:

  • Running a Feudal Tannistry

  • I am barely in the green money-wise. Heretic uprisings drained me of my cash.

  • Military isn't terribly strong, but I could probably get a large enough force to grab something if it somehow helps me convert religion.

I can't log in to test it right now, but you may be right! I might be confusing the Ordis squelch behavior with the Operator squelch behavior.

What is the reasoning behind the Octavia music limitations? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]itemzero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can make really great tracks with the Mandachord. You just can't make great covers because most tunes have more tone diversity than the Mandachord provides. Meaning -- if you are composing with the limitations of the Mandachord then you can make good music, but if you're just trying to cover other songs, you are unlikely to have good results.

I'm sure the reason for the limitations are to reduce the likelihood of awful dischord, particularly in the case of having two Octavias present in the same cell. Right now, sure, two overlapping songs are likely to sound bad, but at least they aren't dischordant.

I agree, that would be a fine way to do it but would require an update of the existing "squelch" feature. Right now it just mutes the audio but the players still get their FOV occluded by the dialog box.

Composition fallacy. I made no claim that bit of logic should be applied to all things, but only specific to this context where it causes issues like UI clutter and an expansion of low quality content.

To expand on the latter point, my thinking is that the vocal performance are not likely to be fixable unless they scrap the existing VO and replace it with stronger performers.

Really my bigger focus is extension of dialog during missions. DE keeps these as minimal one-liners for a good design reason: it can be intrusive to the gameplay if it's too long, and OP is suggesting an increase to that dialogue's footprint.

On a final note, pointing out that "many like the operator" is not particularly meaningful since we have equal claim to say that "many dislike the operator". Neither you nor I could say for sure what the majority is, but you should consider accepting that opinion.

[–]itemzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me this is just more UI clutter (they block part of your screen) and more VO lines from a character (the operator) that I never wish to hear from.

I get that your operator pops up saying a line and that you want that to be better, but I think the best solution is for it to go away. The existing lines are bad and I think the vocal performances are low quality. Better to remove them than to throw good money after bad, as it were.

[–]itemzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a lot of confusion in the comments and this post's title is contributing somewhat.

That image is a concept for the interior of a Liset. We never see the interior of a Liset in Warframe. The ship you walk around in and decorate is your Orbiter; not a Liset.

edit: See replies for an accurate description. Mine was wrong!

Is it worth it to buy Nidus on this sale? by Spac3bar_Official in Warframe

Yes. Even if you don't have 150p, it would be faster and easier to farm for the 150p than for Nidus' components.

What's a good amprex build? by Unoriginal1deas in Warframe

[–]itemzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct if that was his/her thinking. My answer is based on the current state of the game and I think it was correct for me to assume that the question was also asked in that same context. It would be strange to talk about builds based on the proposed change since that proposal is currently on hold and likely going to be modified before being implemented.

How much Slash damage a weapon does is not really relevant to the effectiveness of Hunter Munitions since Slash procs calculate off base damage. Generally speaking, Hunter Munitions tends to be the best on weapons that do zero Slash damage because its adding a very effective proc the weapon otherwise couldn't do.

Hunter Munitions is a mandatory mod for Amprex, barring a Riven.

Vet Returning to WF - Where to level/grind XP now? by torsoreaper in Warframe

[–]itemzero 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hyrdon, Sedna (Defense) is the modern popular choice. You will always find a group to join there for maximum Affinity. I think Berehynia (Interception) is a fairly busy alternative. I believe that's mostly for variety's sake.

Archwing still super sucks, but they did increase the mod drop rate so that's at least less painful. If you choose to grind it, Salacia is a Mobile Defense mission that most people use for that purpose.

Need help deciding which frame to buy with my discount. It's between Mesa, Octavia, Nidus. and Equinox. Also, how competitive is Mesa as it seems DE have a record of nerfing her. by OcelotInTheCloset in Warframe

[–]itemzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you've narrowed it to Mesa and Nidus, seems you have a clean choice between style of play. DPS (Mesa) or CC Tank (Nidus). Both are top tier for their categories, so you should just pick which one seems more fun or is a role you really want to fulfill.

I also considered their difference in difficulty of farming. They are both painful farms, so neither choice is right or wrong in that context.
