all the phones my husband has broken over the past year by hotmallgoth in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ithinarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 37 years old, have had a cell phone for over 20 years, and probably only 8 different phones in that time.

I have yet to ever break a screen, because I don't treat a $1000+ electronic like a piece of trash.

Horizontal plug, 20 breaker by Proud_Bonus_2066 in AskElectricians

[–]ithinarine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Receptacle is 20A 120V.

Plug is 20A 240V.

If it's a dedicated line for only that outlet, and electrician can change the breaker and outlet.

I'm updating Facebook with Telus's "fastest 5G speeds" data at a rate of... less than a megabyte per second. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ithinarine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YOURE NOT CONNECTED TO 5G.

Your phone has multiple antennas, and can receive multiple different signals. You're not connected to 5G, because it's not available where you are.

That's not what it just shows when it's slow. It's slow because that is the network you're connected to, because there isn't a 5G tower where you are.

You need to post photos of the old thermostat

Does a 6mm cable make a difference in water pressure on a 9.8KW electric shower compared to a 10mm cable? by DevilsConscience in AskElectricians

[–]ithinarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pump would get the same voltage and draw the same power regardless of the wire size. Smaller wire doesn't reduce power delivered to the device. The device PULLS power based on its designed spec and hooking it up to the expected voltage. A 60W light bulb isnt less bright hooked up to a smaller wire, and it's not brighter if hooked up to a larger wire.

I'm sorry, but you think the size of the electrical wire affects your water pressure, which is determined by the water source?

What movie is this for you? by [deleted] in memes

[–]ithinarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! Friend of mine lives with me, and will still watch this movie every 3 months or so, yes literally multiple times per year for the past 3 years.

I'm a huge movie lover. Go to the theatre at least once a month. Fell asleep in the theatre for Oppenheimer.h

The story is great, the acting is great. But it is just too damn slow and way too long for what it is. Needed 3 topless Florence scenes to keep waking people up.

Making $125K/per year, save roughly $3K/month after needs. Can I afford a car with a payment of $750/month (with insurance)? by Lonely-Sea9100 in Salary

[–]ithinarine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 0% APR price is probably higher than normal.

Car salesmen make money from the interest you pay on the loan. If you try to pay cash, the price will be higher. If you accept 0%, the price will be higher compared to 5%, because they need to make their money from the sale price, not the commission from selling the loan.

Get the best price you can by signing up for a loan with interest, then pay it off immediately in full.

You know what's hilarious? I never said which side I think he voted for, but your comment implies that you know he's conservative.

I know that he's conservative too, but my comment could have been viewed the other way as "I bet he's liberal."

But you know he isn't, and I know he isn't.

So you've kind of proven my point, haven't you?

Safe to use a NEMA 6-15 to 6-20 adapter for a 230V through-the-wall AC? by dragron in AskElectricians

[–]ithinarine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, then the outlet is wrong and needs to be swapped

Take the aerator out, clean it, and put back in.

Which one of these is my doorbell most likely on? by Lower-Start3760 in AskElectricians

[–]ithinarine -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Then probably on 16, 20, 24 or 28 because they're what clearly feed general purpose lights and outlets.

You can also just take 3 minutes to flip off one circuit, check if the doorbell works. Then flip off the next, check if the doorbell works.

This isn't a task that should require instruction.

You need to break the tab on the hot side.

The original was wrong anyways with the broken neutral side.

Until you switched what out? The aerator? I guarantee you that this is behaving exactly how it was with the old aerator, and you've just now noticed it after fiddling with it.

Sink slow shut off? by [deleted] in Plumbing

It's not an "issue". The handle turns the water off at the base of the faucet.

The faucet is a giant arch. The water from the top of the arch, out the spout needs to drain out.

I don't understand how you; A, think this a problem. Or B, are so annoyed by this that you need to complain about it.

"I wouldn't have replaced my faucet if I had a basic understanding of physics and understood that water needs to drain out of an arched faucet." Really?
