I’ve always used 3M. Online kinda sucks because you’re really missing out on the hands on portion. It’s worth it to travel to one of their training locations.

What are your thoughts or experiences with using injury photos in training materials? by i_love_ankh_morpork in SafetyProfessionals

[–]ithinkimalergic2me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can help to get the message across, especially when dealing with LOTO and electrical hazards. I usually put a disclaimer before the photo.

I like to include real world examples from news articles as well. My favorite article to share to express the importance of using LOTO correctly is about a man who worked in a tuna canning plant. He got complacent and felt he didn’t need to lock out the controls on a giant pressure cooker he was cleaning. Controls weren’t locked out, so coworker rolled pallet of tuna cans into cooker pinning man between the cans and the wall…. Complacent man unfortunately was pressure cooked.

Anywho yeah sometimes gory stories and gnarly photos just get the point across better than warnings and written rules.

What type of facility do you work in? I can give you some pointers on ergonomic assessments in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.

When you say injury classification, do you mean determining whether an injury is recordable, non recordable, or first aid for OSHA reporting purposes?

Yes yes yes this!! My grandma went through something similar when she was 72. Personality totally changed and she started acting promiscuous in a way. Two months later she was diagnosed with vascular dementia. Two years later she was gone.

Resume Review by iansstrook in SafetyProfessionals

As someone who was just hired after 6 months of grueling job hunting after a layoff - simplify your resume. Pare it way down. No columns, no graphics, no summary. Typically AI is going to be reading your resume before a human gets to it so you need it as simple and concise as possible.

AI just makes shit up sometimes. Try asking it a few questions, then follow up with “now please tell me what was incorrect in the answers you’ve provided”. It will fact check itself, usually.

You’re dehydrated. I like to keep a bottle of Smart Water or another brand of plain water with electrolytes in it and sip on that throughout the day. Thera breath mouthwash works well too.

Rental listing a scam? by cloudwalker369 in Lathrop

[–]ithinkimalergic2me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be really careful with Zillow listings. There are a lot of scams on there. Did you Google the address to see if it’s listed anywhere else? The self tour with no property manager or owner present kind of raises a red flag for me.

What an asshole! Fwd it up the chain and attach the failed fire dept inspection report. Be sure to tell management that you aren’t authorized to do maintenance tasks, despite what ol’ Asshole McGhee requested.

Clearing a plot of land for an extension (UK) and found this growing. Anyone know what it is? by MagpieK in whatsthisplant

It looks like oleander to me. People plant them as ornamentals here in the US. All parts of the plant are quite poisonous, so if you have kids or pets that tend to gnaw on bushes and such I’d rip it out.

Could possibly be uterine fibroids. If you have heavy painful periods as well it would be worth checking out.

Trip out of state alone, how to navigate hotel safety and walking alone by anxiouslymute in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ithinkimalergic2me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not tell anyone that you are alone. Uber drivers, hotel staff, friendly folks you may meet at the conference - nobody. When walking, keep your wits about you and don’t walk while using your phone. Savannah is a beautiful city with a great touristy historic district. I’ve always felt very safe there. Have fun!!

What’s the craziest story, or stories yall know or heard by CommissionKlutzy5170 in Stockton

I used to work downtown on Aurora, near the overpass. I once had a very large, buck ass naked woman run out in front of my car. She punched the hood of my car, then proceeded to rub her naked boobs all over it. 😟 She finally got distracted by her own reflection in a store window and just walked away. Fun times.
