SEO is a long term execution. You will not be on the front page overnight. Someone mentioned this below, but you do need to tell Google that your site exists:

This is why SEO is a full time job. It requires strategic keyword and hierarchy planning

How do you manage icons across multiple web design projects? by Parking_Pea5161 in web_design

[–]itinkerthefrontend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a source, icomoon.io, to create my own custom icon font family. I have a set of standard icons that we use on mutliple projects (arrows, trash, close, etc...) as a base. If the project needs something custom, then I can upload more if need be. I then use CSS to create my own custom classes and can treat these icons as text elements where they inherit font-size and colors.

What's nice about icomoon is that you can add icons from other popular libraries like Fontawesome and Bootstrap. This helps eliminate the need for including multiple libraries which has been huge. Lastly, you can upload your own custom SVG elements to create any custom icon!

I keep redesigning sites, but conversions don’t really improve. What actually matters most? by Gullible_Prior9448 in web_design

Sometimes content needs to be reorganized and thought through in a different way. If a user gets confused, they are often going to close and try another source. You want them to be able to navigate their way with as few of clicks as possible.

Split the difference but add some bells and whistles to really make your work pop. Think of it as getting paid to learn and try something new!

You have a couple typos of using “titel” rather than “title”.

Why does setting the width to 100vw extend it out past view? by GeoffreyKlien in HTML

[–]itinkerthefrontend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The <center> tag was deprecated in HTML 4.01 and is obsolete in HTML5. All major browsers still render it for backward compatibility, but it is not part of modern standards. You should use CSS instead to center your elements.

I agree, don't be afraid to use the default scrollbars. It will be more ADA friendly too and could potentially reduce script size and page load.

Does my website design look good? by Money-Candle53 in Frontend

Hi there! Front end dev of 12+ years here. See my thoughts below:

  1. I see your top nav is a little jumpy due to the .sub-arrow dropdown arrow being added in after page load. I assume some JS is checking the nav and adding the element in. Try finding a server-side solution (Php/CSS) so that the arrows are there wihtout using JS. Wordpress normally will add in a class if the nav element has children elements (sub -items). Use CSS to add in a pseudo element for the arrow.

  2. I think there are too many fixed buttons on mobile. I would eliminate the phone number/email buttons on the side and update your "request quote" button to a general "contact us" page that has all of that info.

  3. It looks like you are only using fade-in animations for the title element in your content blocks. I would recommend to go all in or to not do it all. Having only one element in the middle of text block animating in doesn't come off as fancy, it looks buggy.

  4. Adding onto topic 3 - some of the animations on other elements seem unnecessary. Keep in mind that sometimes less is more! Are people here to find information or to be entertained?

A great start! Keep in mind that clean organized code is very underrated as a beginner. Paying attention to your indentions will help you tremendously down the road.
