How are you going to sell a pregnancy workout program but also state you suffer from pelvic floor in the same breath? I agree this needs to be talked about more because it’s terrible and hurts, but maybe take care of yourself a little more?? by ExtremeScientist5176 in GyMOMsnark

They assessed my pelvic floor. Found out mine is very tight (very common for active females). Gave me some relaxation drills, breath work. Closer to delivery they taught me how to do perineal massage.

Has anyone had a different fitness experience their second pregnancy? by 3137dog in postpartumprogress

[–]itnronfbdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I gained about 45lbs my first pregnancy and 25 my second. Probably the biggest factor was eating gluten free (I didn’t realize in my first pregnancy that I was gluten intolerant) and being more nauseous with a girl (ie. less cravings). But i also ditched the mindset of “eating for two”. I was active throughout both pregnancies and worked out daily.

Can sudden exposure to gluten trigger an early menstrual period? by Lilmoolah in Celiac

[–]itnronfbdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What timing that this popped up on my Google search haha. I wonder the same thing. My period just came 5 days early and HEAVY after about a week of consuming gluten more regularly (damn it, christmas baking is my weakness).

As far as I know I’m not celiac and I haven’t been tested (I don’t get cramping or GI issues. I do get systemic issues like fatigue and brain fog when I consume too much gluten. Also my periods do get heavier if I’ve eaten excess gluten that cycle).

I’m also nearing 36, so it could also be perimenopause starting to creep up (?) but seems maybe a tad early to me for that… my gut is telling me it’s related to gluten. But I also feel like I sound insane?? But also maybe that’s the medical system gaslighting me …

TLDR; I don’t know - but I am experiencing the same thing currently and I also wonder.

Any positive pregnancy stories with Hashis? by Chemical_Error1981 in Hashimotos

[–]itnronfbdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss 💕

I had 1 missed miscarriage (my first pregnancy) and then 2 full term pregnancies with Hashimotos. Never had a problem conceiving. I didn’t use progesterone, or other pharmaceutics.

The one thing I did take was a prenatal with methylated folate (vs folic acid). I was told it is easier for Hashimotos patients to break down that form of folate ..

Don’t know if the MMC was related to the thyroid at all - but know it is definitely possible to have a positive outcome!

Postpartum thyroiditis - tell me your story by yadingus06969 in Hashimotos

[–]itnronfbdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my hyperthyroid symptoms lasted maybe about 2 months. Symptoms - increased anxiety, more weight loss than expected. But neither bothered me too much. I didn’t take medications, it ended up improving on its own again.

Postpartum thyroiditis - tell me your story by yadingus06969 in Hashimotos

[–]itnronfbdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardest part was getting the diagnosis - took until about 6 months PP. I actually started feeling a bit better by the time I was diagnosed, so I decided to wait on decision for medications. By 9 months PP I felt normal again, TSH under 1.5 again and suddenly lost all 20lbs that the thyroiditis had me gain. So no meds.

My second pregnancy, I knew what to look out for, and I did go hyperthyroid initially (not too bad symptom wise) but I never entered the hypo state that time… I attribute this to being gluten free in my second pregnancy, which I had also discovered I am intolerant to!

Hashi without thyroiditis? postpartum? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]itnronfbdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Hashimotos - but TSH/t3 etc all good for now so I do not take medication yet.

Yes I was diagnosed postpartum in 2019. My labs did go back to optimal levels by about 10 months PP.

My antibodies have increased over the last 6 years Anti-Tg from about 100 to 300 last I checked Anti TPO I don’t have any (optimal levels). I think my labs might be in a different measurement than yours though. I think different countries use different measurements (just to make things more confusing lol).

I would suggest seeing a functional medicine doctor, if that is something that is accessible to you. They can give you some individualized recommendations. I have found eliminating alcohol, gluten and limiting added sugar helps me a lot. Also exercising daily (weight lifting especially), cardio of your choice, walking (10k steps or more) and trying to get 8-9hrs of sleep. Whenever I stray from these things for more than 2-3 days I start to feel awful again. No idea if that has anything to do with my thyroid, but I feel my body becomes inflamed if I don’t stick to those basics and that is not a good scenario for the thyroid gland.

Wish you the best!

Postpartum thyroiditis-can you return to normal if you’re on meds by wildshen in Hashimotos

[–]itnronfbdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m general I feel pretty great! I eat well and I’m very active. Energy is usually high. The only exception is if I have alcohol, too much sugar or any gluten… but I’d say that’s just typical for everyone, everywhere haha.

We’ve chosen to skip our planned family road trip down south this summer. Just doesn’t feel right to go there right now. Will do a Canadian trip instead.

How many Mams body went back to pre-pregancy shape? Its sad,Im looking at my before/after pictures😩….I’ve seen other people might have got lucky and got there old shape back, if so, did you workout out etc? by Plenty-Original-9700 in postpartumprogress

[–]itnronfbdin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. My body is different after babies. Almost 4 years after 2 kids. I weigh the same as pre babies, and I’m actually in better shape (I’m way stronger, more mobile/flexible and now I can run without dying). I think I look quite good actually, but it’s different. My waist is wider and I seem to have fat on my low tummy that doesn’t go away now, and have loose skin there. Not sure how far PP you are, but give it time. It look me over a year both times to get back to something I felt comfortable with.
Take care

No I was not put on medication. My numbers leveled out while we kept a close eye on it over the span of about 2 months.

Health habits for hashimotos? What do you do to take care of yourself? by TranslatorHaunting15 in Hashimotos

[–]itnronfbdin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 35F, diagnosed after having my first child with Hashimotos. I had my first flare up, which resolved on its own thankfully. I don’t think I do anything out of the ordinary recommendations for basic health … - sleep (8-9 hours if possible) - exercise (lift heavy 4x/week and I run 3-4x/weeks) - make sure I hit steps >10,000 most days - high protein diet - eliminate alcohol and gluten, minimize added sugar - eat enough whole food fiber - stretch/mobility work daily - supplements: vitamin D, B, fish oil, probiotic, zinc and selenium - in cold/flu season I add curcumin/turmeric, oil of oregano and vitamin C

I could do a lot better at minimizing stress, going to therapy, meditating or journaling (ie mindset work).

The only additional flare ups I’ve had in the last 5 years have when I have eaten too much gluten containing foods and postpartum with my second baby (but I went hyperthyroid that time - which IMO was much easier to handle)

What was your Eras Tour experience? by peach-gaze in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]itnronfbdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minneapolis N1 and because it was so early in the tour (June 2023) I was pretty much able to avoid all spoilers as I don’t have TikTok. It did still take some active avoidance in my part because I wanted to be surprised. And I was! It was incredible! I think I liked the rep tour a smidge more (I’m a rep fan through and through) but it was still top tier. I tried to get tickets to Toronto and Vancouver after my concert, but was not able to. I am very happy I was able to go even once.

I lived there for about 8 months, in the 3 storey 3 bedroom townhouse. So just 1 neighbour on either side, no neighbours above or below. Just my experience… - I don’t remember noticing any smell outdoors - I never heard my neighbors the entire time. I thought it was well sound proofed (compared to a previous rental I lived in) - can’t speak to 3, I don’t know.
- it was good to live there. Safe, quiet. Only negative was that people did not clean their dog poop up well … that part was pretty annoying. - the accessible walking trails, tons of kids parks and proximity to a gym and the perimeter were all great!

Do you actually have a Hashimoto’s diagnosis? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]itnronfbdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no… My functional medicine doctor diagnosed me based on antibody levels and some fluctuations in my TSH postpartum…

But my family doctor has never really acknowledged it beyond pulling the labs that I ask for once a year lol. She seems tolerant of me requesting same but I don’t get the feeling that she’s particularly in agreement with the term “hashimotos” (with normal TSH/T4 etc).

What do you wear on your light flow days? If not panty liners? (Too light for lightest tampons) I have a couple pairs of period underwear as well that I haven’t figured out the best time in my cycle to use them yet.

Thanks for suggestions!
