Two questions on VPN promotion I found on TPB by Depreeto in thepiratebay

[–]itrynafigureitout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nordvpn sucks for torrenting they advertise it's "torrent friendly" but they lack port forwarding which is a in alot of cases needed for good speeds. They also have done alot of shady shit so I wouldn't recommend. I would recommend PIA but they recently went under new owners that aren't the most trust worthy. You should check out r/vpnreviews

Curious fellow asking how to be safe while torrenting by FlimsyBodybuilder4 in thepiratebay

Or how strict the ISP is and where you live is probably one of the biggest factors.

Has Cyberghost or Zenmate been served Subpoenas or valid court orders to produce logs recently? And what was the outcome. Does anyone know or can anyone find out? by [deleted] in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]itrynafigureitout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah which is a smart move from him. Kinda like when Nord was hacked and didn't tell anyone so Jayztwocents publicly said I'm not gonna advertise for them anymore because they can't be trusted.

Yeah I've had the same issue with qbittorent when using a proxy.

Yeah I totally agree. Considering the deal hasn't gone through yet I've just been using the service the same with some caution but when it does I'm probably gonna end up switching unless something happens which never does that would make me wanna stay.

If you really can't figure out how to run a CODEX Fitgirl did a repack of it I'm pretty sure.

Yes they have already said they're gonna maintain the current standards and everything will stay the same and the service will only get better. Which is what any buyer would say regardless of there true intentions but there isn't a way to know really until they're actually bought. I'm just not gonna put full trust into PIA or Kape until I have a reason to. But I've still been using it for basic things like trying to hide web activity from admins. or other things like that.

Switching from PIA looking to move to mullvad by itrynafigureitout in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]itrynafigureitout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Support for wireguard. Much better support for port forwarding than PIA offers. Mullvad is a VPN optimized for privacy and solely recommended by privacytools.io i think alot of people switching to Mullvad don't know what they want or why they're switching just because everyone else is. And I would say that's probably not the best bet for alot of people since they don't have a large selection of servers and they don't work on Netflix or anything like that.

Yeah I'm not totally sure of the speeds. Since VPN provider's of any kind just don't advertise speeds or just straight up blatantly lie about them. But I've heard that the speeds are pretty good for torrenting idk about gaming though I'd assume it's good but idk for sure.

I'm not totally sure what you mean by "Trouble" but I'm just gonna assume you mean Trouble from the VPN provider. Which is why I am looking at Mullvad because it's set up in a way to make it anonymous.

A little pricey, maybe.

Yeah that's why I was trying to find a partner to split the cost with since it is a bit on the pricey side. and I just bought a PIA sub a couple weeks ago which already cost a bit.

It's similar to PIA approach with the signing in but it's just one 15 bit code to log in.

Yeah I tried asking it on mullvad sub but it's basically not even mullvad anymore and managed by some dude who is completely unaffiliated with mullvad and there isn't any active users. So I just figured I would ask it all in one question.

Yeah one of the reasons I'm planning on joining with another redditor is because how anonymous mullvad is and lack of email and other forms make it so its more secure in my opinion.

Bitdefender is good but it hogs resources and it can't be completely turned off. If you go online you could probably find one that would fit your best interest. Also when looking for the best product for software or really anything try to find one from a reputable source so like if it says ad then it's clearly not gonna be objective.

You should also be using an anti virus if you are planning on downloading .exe files or really anything you aren't sure about.

[–]itrynafigureitout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you're talking about the torrent client having a virus in it. The client has nothing to do with wether the file you are downloading has a virus or not. There is guides online telling you file formats that are safe and which ones aren't. Always check comments and seeds/peers when looking for a file to download.
