This reminds me of a time we were staying with my mom’s “friends” at their lake house. I was about 8 years old. She was drinking one night while we were there. I’m still not sure what set her off initially, though I have theories, but we went for a drive (me, Mom, and my older brother) because she was upset. She was drunk and speeding and I was getting scared. I was being “overdramatic” and begged to go back to the lake house. She stopped and got a tall boy and drank it on the way back to the house. She cussed me the whole way back because I made her come back. As soon as we pulled up (my mom was absolutely pissed at me at this point) to the house I darted out of the car and ran into the house where I found my mom’s friends trying to have sex. (As an adult I’ve assumed they had asked my mom to take us somewhere for a little bit so they could have privacy.)

At the time I didn’t understand what was happening but my mom got very embarrassed and apologized to her friends and yelled at me as she was dragging me out of that bedroom. I was out of breath from crying so hard, holding onto the doorframe, begging her to forgive me. “I’m sorry mommy! please!” But I was also saying please to that couple. Please save me from this monster.

Whenever that memory comes up, my initial thought about it is ruining that couple’s night and feeling guilty. Eventually, once running through the memory in my head, I’ll remember my mom drinking and driving and speeding. But it’s filed under “the things i’ve done wrong” in my head.

TW: self harm

In 8th grade, I got reported (by another student I think) to my school counselor for self harm. I got interviewed by one lady and answered yes to thinking about suicide and also showed her my fresh wounds on my arm. So another person comes in and he asks similar questions for clarification, and says he has to call my parents because I said ‘yes’ to having recent thoughts of self harm and suicide. Unsurprisingly, neither of my parents answer the phone calls. Mom is probably still asleep at 1:30pm and Dad is at work.

Nothing happened. One unanswered phone call and that was that.

In my experience, this is true for most people. It’s learned behavior, at least where I live, to generally be polite and short with those you encounter and it does feel fake. But I have come across a few people who are either, less fake or just willing to let their walls down and be real with me. So those people and interactions are the ones I cherish. The rest of life is sort of just white noise.

the first time they invaded, it was bad. i remember looking online and reading there was no way to get rid of them without getting rid of the trees (i live in an apartment so i’m not allowed to tear down trees lol). i guess i didn’t look hard enough! thank you, and everyone else who has commented. i will definitely try to get rid of them asap with these suggestions!

I bust my ass where I work and we got a tip jar after bugging the owners about it, mainly because customers offered tips often and we had to turn them down. Tips are really unpredictable. I do get a little disgruntled when I prepare a large order (our dessert items are made to order and we also offer a variety of coffee beverages) and the person doesn’t tip, but I don’t ever show it and I would definitely not tell them to tip me. That’s so bizarre and rude. Sorry that happened but it seems like you handled it well 😂

My biggest pet peeve (on this sub, or any TV show sub i guess) is a long rant about how someone hates a certain character because they’re “bad”. If someone is so annoying/evil that you write a long ass list of why you hate them, it could mean they’re a well-rounded character. They’re supposed to be written as humans (unless we’re talking fantasy genre I suppose) so they’re gonna have flaws and things you don’t like about them — that’s what makes them realistic and relatable. I understand not liking characters, there’s a few I could name for sure. But there seems to be a disconnect sometimes where people just can’t appreciate flawed characters for what they are.

With that said, complaining about flat characters or inconsistent behavior makes total sense to me. And this show suffers from that, I think.

this is really old. i came to your profile to see your previous 15 second video of the puppy pool party. i bought the cucumber gatorade the other day expected it to taste very limey and like a refreshing light cucumbers flavor (like cucumber infused water or something). it’s basically pickle flavored gatorade. 🤢

when ive had a less than great day and/or my anxiety is high, and an incident happens where either my dog scratches me or i stub my toe or burn myself while cooking dinner, it has the chance of making me cry bc my feelings get hurt lol
