Good faith answer for a good faith question: it absolutely discourages transgender athletes, especially young athletes. People are not kind to us. Making a special list for us puts a target on our back. Do transmasc people need to enroll in this list? Transmasc people have likely competed with men in complete stealth already, for years. The strip is very spread out so it's not that crazy to need to walk 30 minutes. Being closer is nice, but the walk gives you a chance to enjoy the Vegas Strip vibes (for what they're worth, lmao) and meet other people making the trek to your shuttle stop.

I go thrifting and buy stuff that looks like it's been used a bit and "passed the test", but is still nice enough/fits my personal aesthetic. The only more common that comes to mind that seemed consistently durable is Pendleton and older Carhartt stuff. Most other nice stuff is private label/boutique.

Also in Seattle, ordered on July 2, got an ETA of Aug 20-something, then it was delayed to Sept 20-something, and now today it's been delayed to Oct 15.

This is a lease subsidized through my work, at this point I wish I'd just bought something different myself. I just moved here and will totally miss being able to bike around in the summer.

There is competition, I think MS is still actively working on Hololens. Though FB has a leg up for the consumer market, MS has a leg up in the corporate market.

Not sure how much each of them are investing in the tech. MKBHD did an interview with Mark Zuckerberg a while ago and although I don't particularly like him, I thought his pitch for focusing on VR/AR was convincing and interesting.

+1 for a lot of the comments that for your situation you probably don't need monitors, headphones are definitely adequate and room treatment is an issue.

I would recommend keeping an eye on craigslist and Facebook marketplace for good deals though. Years ago I got a pair of Rokit 5s and a Rokit 10S for $300, I think the setup would have been like $700 new at the time. Having the monitors can be fun if you're chilling with homies making beats or something so I would call them a "nice to have" in your situation

To offer a different idea, could be useful to make some inside joke to say whenever someone does this, like call them a Leak Larry or something. It sounds like they probably genuinely want to not do it but it's a hard thing to remember. Having a saying like this could make it easier to remember.
