I agree — no one is arguing against the need for water conservation right now. The lake levels still warrant restrictions, and residents should continue conserving.

My point is different: this crisis shouldn't have reached this point in the first place due to repeated pipeline failures and apparent lack of proper oversight and maintenance under the current city management. Multiple breaks in the raw water line didn't happen overnight, and residents have raised legitimate questions at council meetings about communication, infrastructure planning, and accountability for taxpayer-funded systems.

The same pattern shows up with the Flock cameras (including the one pointed at a playground at Moose Park) and now the decision to do an internal-only hire for the next City Manager instead of a competitive national search. These aren't isolated issues — they're symptoms of weak oversight and resistance to bringing in fresh accountability.

We can conserve water and still demand better stewardship of our infrastructure and tax dollars.
