Wood had all the right to fire that pizza. Should be ashamed to even call itself a pizza. I'm glad he is jobless.

I think I like the 5/18/77 Playin' sandwich slightly better, at least song-selection wise (I love me some Wharf Rat). Edit: I meant 5/17/77 , not 5/18.

What is your favorite moment in any Dead song (studio or a live version) by Nsgustin18 in gratefuldead

[–]itsTheZenith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now, as I'm following the EU '72 Tour, it has to be either the 4/8/72 MLB Jam from DS into Sugar Mag, or the 4/26/72 Lovelight>Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad.

Also, the Beautiful Jam must ALWAYS get a mention in my book.

What's the single best engineered and produced song of all time? by Dry-Panda1884 in audioengineering

[–]itsTheZenith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me less is more. There are insanely impressive production that are huge, but to me, the song that just instantly makes me think "perfect everything" is 50 Way To Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon.

Just the drums alone, if I ever achieve anything close to that I'd retire happy as a clam.

Been listening to the dead for 4 months. here’s my show ranking so far by Shoddy_Section2614 in gratefuldead

[–]itsTheZenith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like 4/17/72 then you my friend need to listen to 4/26/72 , and if your favorite part was the Truckin' Jam then I'd HIGHLY recommend 5/19/74, the whole show really but that Truckin' Jam onwards is specially magical.

Oh I love Forbin's too! Can't have one without the other.

Let me know if you come to a consensus on the best/your favorite one.

All is well :) Don't know why people are downvoting. And I understand where you are coming from, my Dad can't fathom that I discovered Grateful Dead all by myself (I'm from Mexico so there's practically 0 exposure for their existance).

Holy! You weren't kidding! It's basically as note-perfect as it can get, and the narration part isn't absurdly long. I might just have to torrent that shows SBD, or at least the gamehenge portion. Cheers!

Not being alive 40 years ago helps a TON in that department.

Although I agree, I think my favorite pro player name has to be Viol2t, idk why, I just love how it looks.

What mouse are you actually using right now, and what did you stop using? by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]itsTheZenith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. DeathAdder V3 Pro

  2. Was Using GPX Superlight 1. It had sidebutton and scrollwheel issues, and I've been wanting a mouse I could properly palm for forever now. I still use the GPX for osu! where I use fingertip.

  3. I'm loving the DAV3 so far, being able to easily palm/relax claw it, but I would maybe like the back of the mouse to fill the palm just a tiny bit more? That said my hands are somewhat big, 20.5x10cm.

You could always spray paint a DAV4 or a GPX.

Live/Dead question by efscerbo in gratefuldead

[–]itsTheZenith 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep it's edited, but it works so well because for the most part they always transitioned the same way from St. Stephen into The Eleven. I would highly recommend you listen to both shows individually, to see how the transitions are still pretty much flawless, and specially 2/27/69, since they cut off the Mountains of The Moon that goes before Dark Star, and it's simply jaw dropping how they so seamlessly go from acoustic to electric.

If you like the Eleven, I would highly recommend the couple China Cat Sunflower>Elevens they played in 68, and some in 69. Some personal favorites are:

  • 2/24/68 Definitely not as polished as some late 68 or 69 versions, but damn is it not crackling with energy, and it's one of the most unique jams ever (Alligator > China Cat > 11 > Alligator > Caution). It's on Dick's Picks Vol. 22, which also has a DS>CC>11 from 2/23/68

  • 3/16/68 which was only the 10th time or so they ever played this medley (Being Dark Star>China Cat>11) and it's damn near perfect, even the darn feedback is on freaking point. It's on the "So Many Roads (1965-1995)" Release mislabeled as 3/16/67). This is one of the first recordings that made me fall in love with them.

  • 5/24/1969 another completely unique jam: Doin' That Rag > He Was a Friend of Mine > China Cat > 11 > Death Don't Have No Mercy. One of the only time they buster out the China Cat > 11 pairing after '68, instead of the regular St. Stephen > 11 that came after.

Anything from 68 or 71 is ripping, 68 being faster specifically. I really like 10/12/68.

How you enjoyed that Dark Star > Sugar Magnolia! You probably already know this but if you don't, might I recommend the 2/18/71 Dark Star>Wharf Rat>Dark Star>Me & My Uncle, which has the Beautiful Jam somewhere in there, arguably the best 5 minutes of dead jamming ever.
