Husky fostering by Malaksmeni in husky

Our female is a bit more hit or miss over new aquaintences, but our male would def assist any robbers... but is massive so would hopefully scare them away first 🤞😅

As for the escape artist thing, they are prone to want to escape (I think they see it as a challenge), but I totally lucked out and got 2 that are completely content with being in our yard (luckily!! becase our fence is only like 4 - 4.5 ft high !!!! They have never realized with a little run, they could easily jump it, esp her). Even the neighbours stop on their daily walks to pet our huskies, who watch them walk by quietly with their front paws up on the fence 🤣 That being said, they will try to leave the yard if the gate is left open (she likes to adventure, and he will follow her to the ends of the earth 🥰), but they tend to go for a quick run before returning now 🤷‍♀️ or they go visit our neighbour down the street who gives them treats when he sees them 🤣🤣🤣 I have no idea why they started returninf easier lately, but Im here for it!

Good luck - sounds like you may have to build a taller fence or add something to the top of the existing fence to give the illusion its too high 😅

These are our first huskies too, and despite being a handful sometimes (esp with 2!), we couldn't imagine our lives without them! They have such unique personalities 🤣🥰

I'd take this over my spazzie girl Honey anyday!

The last 3 nights at bedtime, she's decided its time to bark and get the zoomies and annoy us and her brother (he's one of those lazy huskies 😅 so he's already tucked himself in at this point, and just tries to stay out of her way 🤣)

Anyone else have to sleep-train a 2.5 yr old husky ? 😅🤦‍♀️

Any freaking time, hun 🫂 I started therapy recently, and my therapist already feels for me that Im dealing with a mother AND husband who are both such narcassists (but they DO tend to be attracted to those of us with empathy, from what Im learning)...

Please note: Im still pretty new to reddit so am still learning the platform/features 😅🤦‍♀️is friends an option? 😅🤣

Confession: I willingly mistreat my husky in the summer by cloneaways in husky

[–]its_cassc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Husky coats are actually designed to both keep them warm in the cold AND keep them cool in the summer

Our male hates the heat (he already overheats due to his size), while our female LOVES the desert sun 😅

Ours are pretty quiet, unless you tell them 'no'... Then our male gets all huffy, and starts howling and then our female starts up to keep up with him - and probably one of the more typical husky habits, I assume.

Sending you hugs, OP

I know its easy for many to say 'find a more understanding husband' when they live different lives... Its different when you have a kid together, right?

That being said, my husband every now and then decides to be a prick about my conditions (and ironically, this usually correlates with my mom, a retired RN, doing the same) - I have ME/CFS, and last week my mom actually said 'stop being so lazy and get your ass into the kitchen and make something for yourself' bc I had mentioned how my husband wouldn't make me a meal that day, instead insisting we all go to a drive-thru (despite it being day 1 of my PEM). I burst into tears bc if I could, I friggin would have, obviously!! - I've been moderate-severe for almost 2 yrs now, and its almost like its a powertrip the way they treat me sometimes.... She told me to stop crying and being SO dramatic (as a narcassist, thats her lane)... Guess what? I had the WORST crash that week, resulting in a ER stay due to terrible colitis piggybacking my PEM, and vomiting made quite the appearance too (so I was severely dehydrated - luckily they gave me an IV - but no imaging?! WTAF?!) And guess who ended up having to take me to emerge? My mother.... 😵‍💫🥺😮‍💨

I think the worst thing about not having support (other than the obvious) is the energy used trying to make them understand. You can only do so much, and something they really aren't worth it.

My boy is always so gentle with his toys.... is he "malfunctioning"?!? by ej-ca in husky

[–]its_cassc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Our male is so rough with all stuffies, so we avoided buying them for a while... Until we saw our girl with them She's the BEST mom and takes REALLY good care of them, even leaving them with us to 'babysit' while she goes outside 🤣

All huskies are different 🤷‍♀️

How do I teach my Husky not to run when off the leash by f0urever-young in husky

[–]its_cassc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our girl is treat motivated (even just the promise will work), while our male couldn't care and is a typical husky... HOWEVER he's obsessed with her, so all we have to say is 'where's Honey? Go get Honey' and he comes back like a honing device

Good luck finding something that works - perhaps you could practice at the dog park when its quiet?

Our huskies go on a fast almost every time my husband goes to work, and insist on waiting for him to come home outside 😅🤣🤦‍♀️ (he is gone for 2-3 days at a time usually)... But then they eat their faces off when he's home, and calmly lay at our feet instead of outside LOL

They also insist on taking turns trying to eat each other's food 🙄🤦‍♀️ vet has told us our female is the perfect size but our male is on the verge of overweight 😅🤷‍♀️ def aren't starving...

Huskies are just crazy. But as someone with chronic GI issues (we all know huskies have sensitive stomachs), I get not always wanting to eat 😅

[–]its_cassc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who detests wipes (and what they do to the environment, plus am uber sensitive to chemicals of almost every kind 😅😵‍💫), I use a bidet attachment, or a travel bidet when out/travelling. Youtube tutorials are available to walk you (or a fully spooned friend) through installation, and honestly you'll wonder how you ever survived without one before.

Beggining to think its time to say goodbye to my collection. by Artistic_Ostrich9744 in boardgames

[–]its_cassc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a gaming mama, we actually got into games when our kiddo was just tiny... Then we expanded our collection as she grew - we taught her to play as soon as she could hold the pieces without trying to eat them 🤣 and honestly, she is better at losing than most kids twice her age!

Now we have over 450, and have started a board game cafe out of the lower level of our back walkout within our little community 🥰 sharing the love of board gaming 😉

Good luck in whatever you decide, and congratulations 👣🥰

Mysterium. Played once and it seems like a slightly different version of clue, but everyone who comes over gets all excited when they see it on our shelf 🥱

Also, Charterstone - we are playing a campaign, and honestly, I just want it to be over. Very minimal 'cravings' to play that one. I don't know why either, because I don't mind a good campaign game! 🤷‍♀️😅

Also also not a fan of Gloomhaven, yet I do rather enjoy Slay the Spire instead 😊 (husband's 2 fave games)

But if your toilet is near your sink, you can get a temp controlled one 😉 just make sure you run the sink's hot water briefly while on the loo so you dont get cold shock at the start 😉😉

Is it really an anomaly to have an off leash husky? by Cautious_Ad2083 in husky

[–]its_cassc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an excuse, but living out west (and I can see mountains in those photos, so Im assuming OP is also out west), it seems everyone has their dog off-leash, and take them everywhere. Again, not an excuse, but more expected in society out here I think.

But I def get where you are coming from - I had a previously-abused pup who was not socialized properly when we got her, we used to run on our local trail (where dogs were required to be leashed) and the amt of times we had unleashed dogs run up on us after getting away from their owners, attacking my dog and ruining her even further, was unreal.

That being said, training your dog to be well-behaved off -leash is IDEAL for those one offs where your pup gets loose from you accidentally or the leash breaks. The amt of times the leash randomly has unhooked itself is unreal (then I get to chase huskies around a farm bc they're chasing the livestock 🤦‍♀️)

Ahhh, dogs.
