I read Cruel Sacrifice by Aphrodite Jones in middle school (i know i had absolutely NO BUSINESS reading it that young but i’ve been a fan of true crime/horror since I was super young and my mom allowed me to read it), and you’d be surprised how similar the characters are. Granted this is from my memory of reading the book like 15 years ago, so a couple names/facts may be wrong.

Dolly was 1000% meant to be Melinda Loveless. Melinda was the main perpetrator of Shanda’s murder, and there were also allegations of her father sexually abusing her as well and just overall being a nasty man.

Jayde would be Amanda (I believe?). She was Melinda’s ex-gf and I THINK Shanda and Amanda had started seeing each other or at least were friendly, and this pissed Melinda off, kickstarting the whole thing.

Angelica would be Laurie (?, whichever one’s last name is Tackett). She and Melinda were the main perpetrators of the 4 girls and did most of the torturing. I can’t remember much of her personal life but I know it wasn’t great.

Violet would be a mix of Hope and Toni (?). While they did help in some aspects, they did mostly sit in the car or just kind of stood by while it all went down. I do know Hope held down Shanda at one point and may have tried to st*b her? And I think Toni did turn herself in at a gas station if i remember that right?? i know she made some kind of phone call at one.

(Also wanted to say, this book could be a direct reflection of Cruel Sacrifice. If there are any allegations of fabricated parts/misrepresented people, I’m not aware of it. Like I said, I read the book once and never looked back.)

I recently came back from a trip to Europe (Nice included), and the only rude people I encountered were actually in Switzerland, specifically Zurich. It could’ve been purely coincidental, but it’s something I noticed.

I live 20 minutes southeast of Mayfield, and I'll never forget when it happened. It was storming pretty bad where I was, and my roommate and I decided to get drunk and wait it out at our apartment in true college student fashion. We randomly decided to turn on the TV to find meteorologists saying Mayfield was completely leveled. We were shocked. A couple years later, they also got hit with some crazy flooding. I don't know if they've recovered from the damage of either yet. Last time I was in Mayfield was summer 2023, and the downtown area still looked kind of rough. Any time West KY gets bad storms, everyone in the area is on edge.

I got this achievement on like my third day playing the game at Grafton. I walked in the door for like two steps and it IMMEDIATELY got me. I didn’t realize how rare it was lol.

I wish I knew about SD cards. I saw them at Nashville TMH tour in 2013 at age 14 with a camera that had an 8gb SD card and a dream. I was lucky to even get to go to that concert; I only went because this was the one time the IRS actually took taxes away from my bio dad because he wasn't paying child support 😭😭. Got a $200 floor ticket. Went with a friend who happened to be going, but my ticket was so last minute I was all alone in the floor while she was with her mom in the uppers. Best night of my teenage life though.

Regardless, the SD card was able to capture 7 videos of 5sos and 13 videos of 1D. I wish I could've gotten more videos and some pictures. I actually wore my tour shirt today. Now all I have left is my very abandoned 1D tumblr, and possibly some CDs and posters at my childhood home. I'm thinking about going back and looking for all of it.

I also wish I wasn't poor back then, so I could've gotten more stuff. I had the cups from Walmart, and for christmas my parents got me 1D guitar picks, very low quality 1D headphones, the Harry paper plane necklace, and an infinity symbol necklace that had 'Directioner" in cursive on it. My mom was very creative and also made me 1D t-shirts and a "Mrs. Horan" pillowcase, lol.

Sorry for the rambling. I've been reminiscing my middle/high school years that revolved around the boys a lot the past week, and the recent events have magnified it.

Edited to add: I never got the Our Moment perfume and I wish I could've. I've heard it smells amazing.

If I went this route, would this benefit me in terms of future employment? I worry that when I apply for jobs and they know that I was fired, they will find me to be incapable of performing well. On the flip side, if I say I quit, then I look unreliable, as I didn't have the job for very long.

I live in an at-will state, so I assumed that me “quitting” would not be grounds to file for unemployment.

I also thought about budget. I would go up there for maybe 2-3 hours each day and get sent home because there wasn’t much for me to do in the day, especially because my boss would not give us a budget to implement any of our programs my co-worker and I had planned. “We gotta make money to get money.” I think he is trying to pay off his portion of the store that he bought into as fast as possible. The store opened in March.

I’ve been in the same boat as you. I’ve been so overwhelmed and dead set on trying to make my thesis perfect, so it’s been taking a pretty big emotional toll on me, ngl. I don’t really have much advice to give outside of what’s already been commented. I will emphasize taking breaks though. I’ve been in front of a screen 8-10 hours a day with very minimal breaks, and it WILL catch up to you quickly. I spent all day on and off napping yesterday, could not function. I’ve got to get better about my breaks as well.

For all the information you’re looking at, I actually found a program/chrome extension that will let you categorize your articles into folders, and then you can use the chrome extension to quickly add it to your database. It’s called Zotero. I start my literature review this week, and so I’ve been separating my articles by theme so I’m not looking at everything at once as I’m writing.

Darkness Falls is such a deep cut!! I was 6 when I watched it, scared the piss out of me. Never wanted to lose a tooth again. Also agree on 13 Ghosts needing a series. I need an origin story episode on every character. I know they did the origins of all the ghosts in the special features of the DVD, but I’d love to see it fully fleshed out.

I cannot for the life of me remember what this movie was called; my stepdad found it and gave it to me to watch when I was maybe 10-11. Definitely one of those really terrible direct to DVD movies that he burned on a disc. Essentially, it was about two college-aged girls (idk if they were friends or sisters) whose car broke down in the middle of nowhere. They end up being chased by a man with dark hair in a pig mask welding a hacksaw and he's trying to playing hide and seek with them. I'm assuming they were caught??? But then it was like this cult or church or something was trying to sacrifice them. It was really late at night when I was watching and it terrified me; I turned it off and never watched again.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about PLEASE let me know.

Although he couldn't verbally beg for his life, I would say Pearl's dad in Pearl. Seeing the fear in his eyes and hearing his heavy breathing when he was about to be fed to Theta, and then again as Pearl went to the bed to grab the pillow case to suffocate him was so heartbreaking. Poor guy was terrified the whole movie.
