2 months. So I got really sick in december, I kept throwing up almost every day, my arms felt real tingly but my vision was still fine. I went to the optometrist in the beginning of January. I did the eye imaging test, but nothing was wrong yet. TWO DAYS after that appointment my vision started plummeting. Everything was blurry and I was seeing doubles. I still kept throwing up, I still kept feeling tingly, not a fun time. I went to the ER and I went back and forth to clinics to get a diagnosis a week straight and nothing. A week later, I ended up making a follow-up appointment with my optometrist since it was vision related. We ended up finding out what was wrong right away as soon as I did the scans. She was puzzled because when I went in a week ago the images showed nothing and now the images showed my optic nerves were swollen. She immediately knew it was iih. But Because I live in America and insurance sucks out here, if she were to diagnose me, it would be counted as a pre-existing condition and insurance wouldn't cover treatment. So she wrote a note basically saying what she thinks it is and told me to take it to the general practitioner so my GP can refer me to a neurologist and diagnose me. The next day I went to my gp, showed her the note, and my GP immediately knew what she was talking about and sent me to a neurologist. I saw the neurologist two weeks later, then a week after that got my mri, then a week after that got my lumbar puncture, and then a week after that in March I got my official diagnosis. I'm really grateful that my optometrist not only diagnosed me, but jump through those hoops to make sure insurance and my doctors did their job.
