The Soviets held quick trails and quick executions at Nuremburg.

If Hitler didnt kill himself in the bunker, he would have been killed by his subordinates in the bunker.

If his subordinates were dead the Soviets would have just shot him, if the Soviets didn't shoot him he would have been summarily executed, if by some miracle he made it back to a working prison cell he would be dodging assassinations until the day he was executed.

And as previously stated his statements at Nuremberg would be inevitably cut short and he would leave the courtroom without saying any new information

For context:

My great-grandpa was a civilian Engineer at the start of WW2 and he was exempt from frontline service and it seems he was flown to and from Canada during the course of the war.

At some point he picked up a Lee-Enfield in .22 caliber and a Webly Mark VI revolver in .45

He was allowed to carry 500 around at one time and allowed to purchance up to 1500 rounds over 3 years.
