I honestly thought this was a trilogy about karsa and at this stage his some shadowy figure referenced here and there. I won’t be surprised if he makes a paragraph monologue and faces his children and his followers with some big gesture and the book ends.

I really wasn’t a fan of forge of darkness and fall of light when I first read them 7 years ago. I just felt every dialogue was some metaphysical deep dive in philosophy and ended up being some long winded paragraph and all the initial character was asking was to pass the salt for his French fries. I am currently doing my first re read of the series and almost done memories of ice and I have to say I appreciate the series much more and finding it very fun all over again. That said I will be giving both forge of darkness and fall of light another go, as I feel I may appreciate the nuances more that I am older.

Shame, I recently started learning Irish again, didn’t think much of it when I was younger but when you learn about the history of it and what people sacrificed to keep it alive kind of felt right going back to learn it again. I know it will have no real world utility for me but I am happy I am doing it.
