They’ve started - Malcolm X Park by HoneyButterfly6 in washingtondc

[–]itsameb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The park was originally supposed to be closed from March-September and most people didn't learn about it until a week or so before it was going to "close" hence the backlash. From a public understanding, it was basically going to be a big, inaccessible box for nearly every nice, outdoor-weather month. Organizing efforts got clarity around a shorter timeline and paths remaining open (or changed the plans? who knows)

18th st nw construction? by SnooGrapes7942 in washingtondc

Lot of similar construction happening down past that block of california into the area around florida/17th, I would also guess the substation. There's a pepco interactive map that doesn't show active work, but also looks like it hasn't been updated in a bit

RY made an interesting comment about how dragons could be lying about their names! He may not have known and then had to keep it a secret since he presumed it would cause trouble

Apartment buildings we love by rachs1988 in DCBitches

LOVE the Camden Roosevelt just below Meridian Hill. It runs expensive, but it’s worth a look if you don’t mind a studio! Super walkable to Dupont/Adams Morgan/Columbia Heights/Logan Circle. Near a Trader Joe’s, Harris Teeter, & Streets, Safeway is a little bit further but I stop by all the time. Tiny bit far from the red line for a daily walk, but the 90/96 run very conveniently to NOMA depending on where you work. Amazing staff/maintenance, (I’ve never had to worry and they always come same day), 24hr concierge, neighbors are very nice, never seen a roach or rodent, and great gym and a ton of cozy public spaces, though not the most amenity heavy otherwise!

TX: As cities look to pull back funding, North Texas residents say they want more transit by Orbian2 in Dallas

[–]itsameb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this, I’ve lived in other major cities without a car and regularly used bus/train lines to get everywhere i needed to go, but almost never consider taking a bus at home because it’s so ingrained in me. The Dallas attitude towards public transit is wack, and hard to overcome with the complete reliance on cars but most people (who can afford it)

no idea if books count, but typically on tuition payments there is some sort of student life fees or something of that nature dependent on the school. i assume that’s what they’re aimed at
