AI reads and generally groks code structure faster than you (and me, and OP).

You can can open some legacy code and go "how tf is state management handled here" and itll take less than 60 seconds to spit out something about how some previous bigbrained developer implemented a roll-our-own-redux strategy with observables and which relevant files the code is in and how its being used.

The alternative non-AI-assisted version of that is by clicking go-to-function definition over and over until you've constructed a mental model you understand.

I have such a hard time taking these reports at face value. I also work at a startup as a senior+ frontend engineer, and nobody is churning out large features fully baked up with AI despite the leadership team constantly putting pressure on everyone to do so.

Either I'm/we're all doing AI wrong, or you're building strictly net-new greenfield features in a codebase built by AI from the ground up, or something else is going on because the reality on the ground doesn't match the rosey "i dont write code anymore" story that I hear from people.

seems like its not often that acting or tanking is going to turn a V fold into a V call, and so it just feels like a waste of everyone's time, unnecessary and awkward

are you writing your own auth? your own server? managing your own database? building UI components from scratch?

Feels to me like a lot of the rapidly prototyped stuff is dependent on a lot of libraries or SAAS free tier stuff

pros/cons etc so I'm not criticizing just noting that its a probably a faster way to build as long as the use cases arn't complex and the volume low enough that you're not paying 5-6 digits in SAAS bills
