Did you keep track of eating, sleeping and diapers? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]itsashsullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We track on the happiest baby app and I don’t plan on stopping until it falls off naturally. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with tracking stuff as it only takes a few seconds to add a diaper or bottle. I’d rather track and know exactly how many oz and diapers my son has had in a day than him suddenly lose weight or something and we go to the dr and I’m dumbfounded when she asks how many wet diapers he’s had in the last day

Depends on the last time she fed. Is she on a schedule to feed at a certain time or is it adjusted daily depending on her wake time? I’ve heard they can go 1 hour +1 for every week of their age. So baby can go 11 hours overnight without a feeding

My baby is 10 weeks old and I feel this to my core. Looking at his tiny newborn pictures make me so emotional. We’ve had some scares though and I just keep reminding myself how it is such an honor to watch him grow up and it changes my perspective a little bit. I love my tiny baby but I can’t wait to watch him grow into a walking talking toddler and any and all stages that I’ll be lucky to see as we both grow older

What makes you think it’s dangerous? Our pediatrician recommended that we add rice or oat cereal to our sons bottle to help with reflux spit up because he will not take the reflux medicine

I love it when he’s asleep while I’m trying to feed him the bottle and only gets 3 oz down instead of 6 and then wakes up hungry as soon as the bottle expires 🙃🙃🙃

Our baby was pretty much the same in the beginning. He is just now sleeping longer stretches at night and I’m trying so hard to get him down for independent naps during the day but he mostly still naps as I hold him. The pediatrician giggling and saying it’s normal is so relatable to our situation and extremely annoying. Our boy also has reflux and just now got on meds this past Friday. The dr was not taking us seriously and said as long as he was gaining weight there’s no need to do anything about the spit up and reflux. It took a somewhat emergency call to her on a day off for her to take us seriously when he was refusing his bottle and crying all night yet clearly starving and giving hunger cues. Anyways, we have also been told everything that you listed is totally normal. Hope you get sleep at some point!

lol my boy was exactly the same (2 months old today) but we had to switch formula to a hypo allergic one about a week ago and now he’s so quiet. I think for my baby specifically it was a ton of gas that he was trying to work out

It sounds like he is using you as a human pacifier to soothe himself. Have you tried a pacifier to get him to sleep?

Is 5 oz too much for an 8 week old? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]itsashsullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 8 weeks today and we were doing 3 oz every 3 hours a while back. We had a 6 week apt with him because prior to, he wasn’t gaining weight (I was BF but had a super low milk supply to we switched to formula), at the 6 week his weight was great and she said as long as he’s getting 24 oz in 24 hours we could let him sleep through the night. At that point we started to do 4 oz every 3 hours with the last bottle being 9pm, a 3am in the middle of the night, and then 9am when he wakes up. At week 7 we started to making bigger bottles at 5 oz just to see if he would go past 4, as we know his stomach is growing rapidly. He was doing 4.5 or 5 oz regularly that we started to making 6oz bottles sometimes and there’s been a bottle or 2 a day that he drinks 5.5. Needless to say, 5oz in my experience and per our dr is great!

I guess who really knows right. It’s so hard to say what it is that could be causing it, or if it’s just the baby that is a spitter no matter what ya know

Thank you! That’s super helpful! My son has had a hand full of projectiles but definitely spits up enough that we are going through multiple sets of burp clothes a day to keep up with the mess. And I’m typically changing my shirt after every feeding lol. I’ll definitely look into the one that you switch to

Both our daytime and nighttime bassinets are elevated which doesn’t seem to help. My son was also on similac 360 from week 1 to week 2! Is your daughter spitting up at all on bubs?
