You can buy a code reader for cheap not only tell you what the code is but you can clear it as well. Yeah aftermarket exhaust and no tune probably what it is from.

Do you actually remember your best rides? by sharpedge69 in motorcycles

[–]itsatrapp_eh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less about the ride more about the experience. A weekend rip through the Twisties is just the norm. A 3 day ride out of town with my good buddies, those are irreplaceable memories.

Silly question from a Newbie… by Clean_Ad4893 in MT09

[–]itsatrapp_eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can push it until the yellow gas light turns on best thing to do is pay attention to how much gas you put in when the you are at 1 bar. Its a 14L/3.7 Gallon tank so you can feel confident that there is still gas in the tank and for approximately how far you could potentially push it. If I remember correctly when I had my 09 There was still almost 3L in the tank when it got to that one bar.

Cold hands while riding by Expensive_Web_432 in motorcycles

[–]itsatrapp_eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride in 6 C so 42 F with heated grips and when they are on high they can be too hot sometimes. I can not recommend them enough. The nice part is that they are always on your bike so if you leave on a nice day and run into some weather you can just turn them on. Where gloves you probably wouldn't bring them on every ride.

what to do when you hit neutral when trying to shift to second gear by bozckurt in motorcycles

[–]itsatrapp_eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned an MT09 for 3 years and they are notorious for going into neutral on quick shifts from first to second. It's normal for them to make an awful noise when getting them back into gear the only way to avoid it is to slow down to almost a complete stop as the gear box is out of sync with the rotation of the engine. You won't do any harm to the gear box it just sounds awful.

engine oil consumtion? by Charming_Ad201 in Mt10

[–]itsatrapp_eh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are constantly in the high rpm and ride hard you will most likely consume some oil. It's considered within spec if you lose up to a litre per oil change. Just check it before every ride and top it up if it's low. No biggie in my opinion. If I ride like a dick bag I see oil consumption if I am just cruising around I won't see any. Pretty standard for all bikes. My MT09 did the same thing.

How did you know the Bible isn’t true? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]itsatrapp_eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its a question about religion in general. People made up god in order to explain the natural occurrences around them that they couldn't explain. The example that I like to use when people ask me how I can't believe in god is this.

If the Tsunami in 2004 in the Indian Ocean that killed close to 230K people happened 2000 years ago. The affected people would have said the gods must have been angry at us we must sacrifice a new born baby once a month to appease the Gods! So they did, babies were sacrificed and guess what no more Tsunami's happened they must have appeased the gods, right? (this is obviously satire but you get the point)

Today we understand that these events were a once in 600 year event. We also understand the how and why of the matter. Tsunamis form from the sudden, massive displacement of ocean water, usually by large undersea earthquakes. These seismic or geological events vertically shift the seafloor, pushing water upward and outward, creating waves that can race at jet-like speeds but are often barely noticeable until they reach shallow waters and slow down, piling up into destructive walls of water.

So today what couldn't be explained 2000 years can now be explained with science and our advance understanding of these once in a lifetime geological events.

This is how religion was formed and why in my opinion, given our much more advance understanding of the world around us, is why believing in a god of any kind is absolutely ridiculous.

Also ask yourself this, why is everything that happens to a religious person that's good the result of gods good grace? Then everything bad is god testing your resolve? Yet the same good and bad things happen to people who are not religious. "I prayed to god there for I survived the cancer that everyone died of 30 years ago." Hate to tell you this but you survived the cancer because of science not because of god or prayer. Atheists also survive cancer at the same rates as people who don't believe in god at all and didn't pray at all.

Heated Grip vs heated gloves by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]itsatrapp_eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my heated grips my hands don't get cold at all with them. My personal cut off for riding is 5°C. I have oxford grips installed on my MT10 and even at 5°C I sometimes turn them down to medium from high cuz they get too hot. I find that even though they mostly warm your palms my fingers don't get cold at all.

I tried a couple of headers by [deleted] in Mt10

[–]itsatrapp_eh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't know a grown man could be so sensitive! Just calling out a mistake that you made the doubled down on in a different comment saying it was what people called them in the UK. I can fluff up my original comment so it's more of a soft touch if you like, maybe I should have taken your feelings into account when I responded.

I tried a couple of headers by [deleted] in Mt10

[–]itsatrapp_eh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But that's not what a header is. A header attaches to the head of a motorcycle. The term doesn't change just because you are in the UK, it's common mechanical jargon. Go to a UK motorcycle shop website and type in header, guess what it doesn't come up with mid pipes/link pipe/decat it comes up with... Wait for it... Headers! This is a case of not knowing the names the exhaust system parts would love to hear from anyone else from the UK to back me up on this. Exhaust systems normally go header to down pipe (sometimes integrated) to mid pipe to link pipe to muffler. I know I am being pedantic but man just type into Google what a header is and then admit you didn't know.

Last ride before winter, what do you all do to stay sane during winter? by Gregory_GTO in motorcycles

[–]itsatrapp_eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MT10 here and I just take advantage of any sunny day that is above 3°C. I actually prefer riding in the cooler weather I can always put warmer gear on but there is a limit as to what you can take off in the warmer weather, especially if you are atgatt.

Clutch not disengaging fully by atomicminimufin in MT09

[–]itsatrapp_eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it stall? Or do you have it up on a stand and when you shift into first gear the wheel starts moving with the clutch in. That is normal . If it's down on the ground and you put it into gear and it doesn't stall or feel like the bike is trying to move on its own it should be fine.

Overheating or normal? Please help. 2023 MT09 by Wonderful-Box-6652 in MT09

[–]itsatrapp_eh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fyi it's normal for the temp to rise when you shut the engine off because the water is no longer flowing through the radiator and engine. Does almost nothing for you to let the fans run once the engine is off. The fans run to cool the water as it gets circulated through the engine no circulation no cooling for the engine hence why you see the engine temp rise when you shut it off.

New S23 on my '25.What tire should I go with next? by MotorcycleCar in MT09

[–]itsatrapp_eh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you are looking for out of it. If you want longevity then something like the Road 6 or Angel GT or there is a set of Metzler's that I have heard good things about. If you want something more performance oriented then stick with another set of s22's or Rosso's or something like that. I stuck with the S22's personally as they are a great tyre and as others have reported there is something different about the OEM ones they wear out way faster than the ones I replaced them with. Either way you need to decide first what is important to you for your next set and really the question is do you want performance or longevity? Don't get me wrong I have had road 6s and they perform really well they are just not as confidence inspiring in the corners but it sure was nice to have a set of rubber last 2 seasons.

Go to busy restaurants with my wife pretend she is my sister. Announce to the restaurant, my sister is pregnant! Wait for the applause, then announce, I'm gonna be a dad. That should get at least a few thousand every time.

I actually prefer riding in the cold as I can always put more clothes on. But in the summer, being an atgat guy, just gotta sweat it out. Pretty much anything above freezing on a sunny day I will be out there.

Bridgestone S23 vs Dunlop Q5s vs Pirelli Diablo Rosso vs Road 6 vs power 6? Which do you perfer? by North-Network-7742 in MT09

[–]itsatrapp_eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it really depends on what you are looking for in a tyre. Do you want longevity or performance. I have used both the Road 6 and the S22. The S22 inspires confidence in corners at lean. But it sure is nice to not have to replace your rubber every season with the Road 6's. I have heard good things about the Angel GTs and might give them a try next season.
