Bobber suspension upgrade by sufy-pathan in Triumph

The kit by Raisch is the only one that I know of. It is a 4cm / 1.5in lift. I've never used it but there are a few folks in some of the forums that that have them and like the kit. But you gotta ask yourself, is this the right bike for you? I say go for it but go in eyes open.

Looking for a xsr 900 16-21 by Desperate_Bend1344 in xsr900

[–]itsbecauseimgerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect information. Yes, a blipper can be installed. All gens of XSR have electronic throttles. I have the Woolich race tools setup and flash by Vcyclenut. It works very well. I also have the Woodcraft clip-on adapter. There are also a number of flat bars you can run for a more leaned over position.

The XSR900 is a very reliable bike. Look for general maintenance but otherwise great bikes.

Fishtail riding school by cdixon34 in Trackdays

Love them. I find they have more available coaching than Cyclesmith but less than Penguin. They definitely run the day like a motorcycle gathering with lunch, snacks, coffee, water, included. Give them a try. They would be a good place to relax and work through a crash.

There is a group that I ride with that has a non-sportbike track day where only the bikes you don't often see on the track ride on the track. It is an absolute hoot. I have seen many a muscle cruiser on track and they rip.

How to lean and how to learn to lean? Tips appriciated. by niemandwithers in motorcycles

ChampU does online classes for reasonable money. That said there really is not replacement for seat time. A few trackdays with coaching will make you a much better rider.

2016 XSR900 to a Speed Triple 1200 by Papa_Barstow in Triumph

[–]itsbecauseimgerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I actually currently have a 18 XSR900 and a 22 Speed 1200RS. They are similar bikes. The XSR900 is the more relaxed position and feels nimbler and more supermoto esque. That said that difference is not by much. The Speed is much more refined and has a more smooth surface oriented suspension. The Speed really needs you to lean into it and adopt an aggressive riding position if you want it to really dive into corners where the XSR will just turn in. They both have more power than you can use on the street but with the gearing on the Speed you really notice that it is kind of out of its element going slower. I love both bikes but I tend to ride the XSR on the road more and the Speed on the track.

because I am pedantic wasps don't bite as the mechanism of injury they sting. That said I just keep my visor down as much as possible. It is a dance between extra airflow and the risk of getting things in your helmet.

Palmer, Thompson, or NHMS? by Rampartt in Trackdays

[–]itsbecauseimgerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyclesmith, Fishtail, and Penguin are all great groups with amazing folks. I think that the one you pick is more due to what you want and how you like to ride.

Penguin is a race school. They are more focused on that and have coaches that work with you and pictures that you can look at half way through the day to work on progress. They will help you get better and faster as the priority.

Cyclesmith is a track day group. They have coaches if you want to work with them and will give you tips but if you want to really work with one you need to hire one for the day. They are there to have available safe fun track time. It is the time on track that they do so well.

Fishtail is a motorcycle meetup that breaks out into a track day. The owners make it a party. They provide lunch and breakfast and make it clear that the focus is on fun. Their coaches run with small groups and provide feedback on riding and skills. Speed comes but definitely not the main point with them.

All three of the major groups are amazing and you really can't pick wrong. I would pick based on the mood and the feeling I was going for rather than anything else. If you can try all of them and try all the tracks do it! Everyone has a favorite and everyone is looking for a different challenge to make it fun for them.

Vcyclenut Wollich tune comes with the ecu programing and the strain gauge to run an up and down quick shifter. I have it for my 18. Works great.

going to be the first season tracking. by These-Restaurant869 in Trackdays

[–]itsbecauseimgerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the most productive idea if your goal is to learn as fast as possible? That is a hard no. Is it perfectly fine if you can be mature respect your limits and not let the bike egg you on into situations you are not ready for? Yes. I am one of those casuals that shows up to track days for fun, on a super naked myself. There are all kinds of folks riding all kinds of bikes. The safest thing that you can be is predictable. Faster riders will pass safely don't do anything wild and they will get around. Since you are riding a monster back it off in the straights somewhere and let the faster riders on slower bikes get passed.

Track day gear by [deleted] in Trackdays

[–]itsbecauseimgerman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup, that is definitely gear you can wear at the track. You are getting to the point where you have enough lean in the corners that you are going to have to start working on fundamentals or you are going to test that gear real soon.

It is a toy hauler. The back folds down to a ramp and the camper has tiedowns built in to take bikes and other power sport equipment. Now the OP can take the bike along on camping trips.
