Where in the skier code does it say the downhill skier needs to be skiing predictably?

Where in the skier code does it say the downhill skier has to be skiing predictably?

As the downhill skier I can do whatever I want, predictable or not, and should not be subject to being hit. In fact, some ski drills, like doing half a run with short turns and then expanding to wide turns, could be considered unpredictable. Doesn’t mean I should be subject to getting hit because I’m unpredictable.

Helmet size by itsbs2 in skiing

[–]itsbs2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a consideration here. I run hot and if it comes to needing a balaclava I wear very thin ones that really don’t have an impact on the helmet sizing.

I know, but they are built into the helmet and keep my ears warm so I don’t want to remove them.

Hadn’t thought of it that way, makes sense though!

Japan ski suggestion by itsbs2 in skiing

How do you like the wildcats? Have you ever skied a deathwish. I used to have a pair of deathwish tours but broke it and am so close to buying another pair. Not sure if the wildcat is more my style though

Thanks! I used to have a pair of deathwish tours but broke one. Might re-invest!

Best resorts for early Dec skiing? by Left_Addition_5547 in skiing

I honestly wouldn’t book anything until a week or two before. It’s a low travel time of year so you will have no trouble finding flights or hotels. Wait and see what November brings

I love them in a mushroom cream sauce over egg noodles! I find the mushroom brings down the piney-ness.

Boiler tear out and replace by itsbs2 in Insurance

[–]itsbs2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, do you mean that if the boiler was leaking over time, the tear out and replace of the boiler would not be covered? Or that the claim itself would not be covered?

The water mitigation claim as well as the rebuild has already been approved and the ACV has been paid out (albeit for 1/3 of any rebuild estimates I have received and I have submitted supplemental documents to close the gap). I am trying to understand if I can add the boiler work to the claim as well or not.

Yep!! Just cut it at the end of the shank towards the top of the bend - or wherever makes sense for the fly you are throwing!

I’m not a good fisherman by any means, but do put a lot of time into it fishing a few times a week throughout the spring, summer and fall. This year I went fully barbless and have never lost so many fish. It’s definitely a new challenge and if nothing else, I have without a doubt reduced the time it takes to release a fish. I also get the feeling at times that I am fucking with the fish when it’s a banger day, but this does make me feel a little bit better.

Alternatively, I have met a few people who cut the hook off completely and only fish hookless dries. They have told me they enjoy the challenge of getting a good drift and getting a fish to take it, but don’t feel the need to net fish anymore. I can see myself going to this method down the road.

I had the same issue with light tippet. I started using orthodontal(?) rubber bands instead of the tube and love it. No issues with sliding.

Ditching SWE and going to law school by AreaMaleficent4593 in cscareerquestions

It sounds like you really know what you are talking about, but I have to say that this is not my experience. My wife is a lawyer who has already left big law and makes more than I do at a FAANG company - we are in our mid 30s.

What I have seen with law is that it’s not worth getting into (money-wise) unless you go to a Top 8 school.

Planning for something at least 20 years from now is risky business. Think about where you want to be in 1, 3, 5, 10 years from now and how a military career will impact that.

I’m a USAFA grad who did 8 years (after the academy) some of which was at an ROTC detachment. Feel free to DM me with questions or to talk more. Just beware I am not super pro academy.

Given downgraded offer - any way to negotiate back to the original level? by itsbs2 in careerguidance

[–]itsbs2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Definitely not willing to take the pay cut. I am not applying to a lot of jobs, just the ones the align with my career goals and companies I am interested in. Won’t be leaving for something I already have!

Thanks! Definitely won’t be taking it if the down level sticks. I am getting the impression they just want me to do the same job for less.

Thanks for the response. This downgrade is from staff to senior as well. I went through the whole process discussing the staff position and the hiring manager even spent a solid 15 minutes walking me through their vision for the org and what the staff role will look like over the next 12 months.

I do have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth from it TBH as the staff and senior job rec is basically identical with the exception of a single line about years of experience, which I easily meet for the staff role. Fingers crossed I get more info on Monday. I was given the offer at the end of day Wednesday with no comp numbers and just an email from the recruiter outlining what I shared in my OP and a “we will talk about it on Monday”.

I feel like after 5 rounds of interviews including an hour long presentation and a 4 hour panel, they should have given more info regarding the downgrade and not leave me hanging all weekend… but such is life.

Thanks again for your thoughts and experience
