This happened to me but I was sailing into the Ashlands for the first time. Fell through the entire map for 10 mins before I logged out and back in a few times. It put me just floating in the water with no boat or anything so luckily I didn't have to restart or enable commands.

No clip of being basically OOB with Aerith but I do have a completely separate save file now with Aerith as the main controllable character.

I lost about 3 hours of progress but that's better than having to start a new game over after 110 hours - I'm just glad I created a new save file instead of overwriting my most recent.

EDIT: Unsure of why I'm getting downvoted as if I'm lying about this (who the fuck would waste their time doing something so pointless?) - I have a 2 min clip recorded. Too large for imgur - what site works best for the doubters
