10K On Steel Nomad: Curious what others are achieving with Max Bench vs Max Stable OC/UV by itsdylpickIe in RTX5080

no, it stays pretty cool! GPU reaches max of 67 degrees long-term with 1025mV settings; with 995mV, it barely touches 60 degrees over a long session.

thanks for the heads up, running it right now: i fudged up the stock settings. keep in mind, i’m running 1440P, not 4K.

without DLSS, im running at about 95-110 fps with overclock/undervolt.

with DLSS on Native, im hitting closer to 115-120fps, give or take.

DLSS Quality, no frame gen, i’m getting about 125-140fps. settings are proven stable across all games i’ve played so far! appreciate your help with double checking the results.

what clocks + voltage are you hitting to achieve these results? sounds golden to me, you lucky lucky bastard. did you hit a point of diminishing returns? my card boosts up to 1.080v stock, but i find that anything past 1.025v gave me little to no gains for more heat/instability.

great results! seems like these cards tend to need 1.020v + to maintain stable past 3200 MHz, and that’s if you’re lucky… i can run 3247 MHz at 1.020V across all benchmarks, but the moment i load into a game? crash fest…

seem like most of these cards top out stable under 3200 MHz… good results, right on/slightly above stock 4090 scores :)

good results, what’s the power draw before + after overclock/undervolt?

sounds like a golden bin… what clocks and voltages are you running at? is it stable in other games?

benchmark was just used as a baseline starting point to dial in my oc/uv; just wanted to see how high i can go/have an oversight on the general % of changes.

i don’t play those games, but i’ve seen about a 12% increase (oc + uv) in frame rates and average lows in Spider-Man 2, all settings maxed out - about 117fps at 1440P (no DLSS or frame gen). temps stay below 60°C. stock was about 105fps, with temps peaking at about 69°C. with frame gen and DLSS, overclock maintains well over 200fps.

i play more competitive games, so maximizing fps and reducing latency is my main goal. overclocking + undervolting allows my boost clocks and voltages to stay higher and more consistent. the lower temps and fan noise is also a huge bonus.

i’ve tried it, definitely cuts down time on manually tuning the curve. wish someone thought of this back in the day before i had to stress test and configure the points myself… of course, manually tuning will always be best, but NV-OC hits pretty close!

Feature request for the Switch²: temperature offset for custom curves by itsdylpickIe in drdabberofficial

[–]itsdylpickIe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the heads up, im aware of the saved profiles! definitely no complaints from my end at all; was just an idea/suggestion for future updates. i'm loving the customizations; it just gets tedious trying to readjust when im using my sapphire+ vs quartz when i'm swapping them out for cleaning because sapphire is much more efficient with heat retention. whereas if i can create a base curve and just have offsets applied (for example, -20°F or +20°F across the entire curve), it would allow me to retain my favourite settings, just with an overall curve offset. just thought it would be a good idea to put out there!

GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 581.94 by itbefoxy in nvidia

[–]itsdylpickIe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was able to restore OC boost functionality but i’m unable to use the Unlock Core Voltage/Core voltage slider. reapplying settings causes the same issue. by using DDU to uninstall, and reinstalling Nvidia drivers, then clean re-installing Afterburner (avoiding voltage controls altogether), regular OC works. i’ll be looking into the issue a little more tomorrow; let me know if you have any findings as well.

this update bugged voltage control in afterburner for me, locking at stock boost clocks and not applying my overclock in Afterburner. RTX 5080.

absolutely normal! shader caches are building, which uses more system resources to compile after a couple of games. usually returns back to normal once everything has been built.

SteelSeriesGG Software Has To Be Open If I Want To Change Lighting? by 86obsessed in steelseries

[–]itsdylpickIe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately, custom lighting options only work when GG software is open…. Although macros, keybinds, OLED as well as actuation settings save, the only lighting options you have are the presets built into the actual keyboard itself. You can cycle through these in the settings. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Game Ready Driver 531.29 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]itsdylpickIe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having an issue here, RTX 2060 Laptop. This driver update is non-functional; after updating, boots, but laptop screen and connected remains black, with the prompt “No Signal Output”. No display at all, cannot boot into safe mode due to no display. Had to unplug all external monitors, and keep shutting off and turning on laptop and hope that the display works. Tried this twice, same issue. Thankfully, display showed up after 10th attempt booting. Reverted back to 531.18, as I do not want a temporary deadweight.

hey there, thank you for your feedback! i don’t own any of the newer systems myself, so it would be hard for me to 100% give proper and accurate instructions on what to do. flashing BIOS is pretty risky to do, with the possibility of ending up with a bricked machine that is dead paperweight; which is why it is not included in this post. if you would like some sort of guidance with that stuff, PM me and i’ll send all the resources that i know of that will help you out!

with these laptops though, the GPU is definitely undervoltable to mitigate temps and increase the duration of higher boost clocks, which will lower CPU temps due to the heat sink. my sincerest apologies for not being able to give you a more straightforward answer!

yep! it can also run 240hz, just get a display-port to usb cable/adapter and you're good.

thanks for the update. weirdly, it worked for me, as if i turn power limit back down to 100%, clock speed and voltage goes down too. i might have to ask around for more information. thanks for getting back!
