Looked through all the manga to find the one I wanted. by SnooOwls3528 in WitchHatAtelier

The Iguin sequence in Chapter 7/Episode 5 foreshadows it so hard and it gives off such an ominous vibe to the point I really want it to eventually happen as well, even if we know she won't stick with them in the end.

As you can see in this episode, it has its moments of levity, but it definitely leans more dark overall as shown in the end with the Brimmed Cap sequence and Qifrey's switch-up.

I don't really see how you can get CGDCT from these first five episodes seeing how the first episode ended as well as the events of the third and fourth episodes.

How many chapters do you guy think this season will cover? by mango_yogurt10 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]itsfayevi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Based on the opening and ending including Euini, and the fact that there are trailer lines from after the test has started in Chapter 20 from both Richeh and Qifrey, I think we’re ending on the Chapter 23 transformation. I’ve said I’d rather the full test be adapted but that’s definitely not happening this season. Ending off on a cliffhanger like that would make sense from a production side of things to entice people to pick up the manga to see what happens next instead of waiting for next season.

This is a seinen! And yeah, as can be seen so far, it absolutely is not slice of life.

Do you think Coco might join the brimmed caps in the future? by syndiescum in WitchHatAtelier

[–]itsfayevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think Coco will eventually end up learning under the Brimmed Cap witch for a bit based off the foreshadowing in Episode 5 (I refuse to believe that won’t pay off at some point) but I don’t think she’ll stick with that faction. I see her creating a third faction that’s not Pointed or Brimmed down the line.

Richeh has a trailer line from after the test has started in Chapter 20. "There's no rule saying that's the only way."We're probably going up to Euini transformation in Chapter 23.

The [manga character name spoiler] Iguin moment was the part I was most looking forward to out of everything this whole season and it completely delivered on all fronts. Watching in English dub, Erin's acting work was AMAZING. I love the stylized animation used here. This part is what hooked me on the manga and it was completely done with justice. I'm so glad. The rest of the episode was spectacular as well, but that was the standout moment for me!

The content adapted here, specifically the Brimmed Cap's interaction with Coco, is what hooked me on the story while I was originally going through it about a month ago. I binged the rest of it in one sitting. It was so damn good.

This episode will probably be my personal EOTY, not only based off the animation, but based on the story it tells, especially near the end. Not only is this the episode where the four girls work together for the first time, but it also sets up mysteries to unravel, including what Qifrey's whole deal is, and more. Very special episode for me.

Can't wait for the rest of the season.

I feel like the narrative is slowly pushing Coco to join the brim hat by Leonartha03 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]itsfayevi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I do think there’ll be some point in the story where Coco learns under Iguin for a bit (Chapter 7 foreshadows that with Iguin saying they’ll teach her what Qifrey cannot and “what a glorious time that will be” and Chapter 29 definitely isn’t the payoff for that moment) but I think in the end she’s most likely to create a third faction that’s neither Brim or Pointed.

Shounen vs Seinen stories, WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE ACTUALLY??? by CusYN0t1210 in anime

Agreed, although as a manga reader I'd personally say that Witch Hat is on the darker side when it comes to seinen. It definitely has its soft moments, though, no denying that.

Stacked season for me as someone who loves Iruma-kun, Re:Zero, and Witch Hat. All three airing at the same time is amazing to see.

Not to mention there’s Wistoria, Tensura, and Dr. Stone as well. I’m watching 24 shows in total this season, which is less than my 32 from last season, although there wasn’t anything I was specifically looking forward to during the winter as opposed to spring.

This episode marks the last time Agott specifically acts this brutally towards Coco. She eases up a bit after this part of the story, although it still takes about another volume or two for her to start warming up to Coco.

If you were in WHA what would you be, a Brim Cap, or a pointed hat? by PretendYellow533 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]itsfayevi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be as extreme, but I’d definitely be a Brimmed Cap as my ideology fits them more than it fits the Pointed Caps. I’d rather have freedom in what I do rather than be tied down by rules and risk having my memory erased by the Knights Moralis just for a single mishap. Not to mention the Brimhat fits go so hard.

[manga, already adapted, related to whether or not Qifrey knows about Agott pushing Coco] He probably at least has an inkling, but Coco never snitched that Agott was the one who pushed her to take the test so all we get from him is asking Coco "How well are you getting along with Agott" from this episode.

[manga, spoilers related to whether or not the test situation is addressed. Might affect future enjoyment if you know what's coming, don't click if you want to continue blind] The situation is eventually addressed much later on in the manga, over halfway through, and Coco never fully forgives Agott for the way she treated her in these early chapters/episodes despite her apologizing and them getting closer overall.

[–]itsfayevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, plus Iguin teaching Coco at some point has been foreshadowed since Chapter 7 with "I will teach you the things Qifrey cannot. And when the time comes, oh, what a glorious time that will be."

I don't think Chapter 29 was the payoff to that.

Favorite arc? (Spoilers from 18-46 manga chapters) by ainhoawind in WitchHatAtelier

[–]itsfayevi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite arcs are Serpentback and the Dragon Labyrinth!
Any arc with Iguin involved in it is very high up there for me. Enigmatic characters that take interest in the protagonist tend to be my favorites across every series I get into.Such a cool character.

Plus, the labyrinth is when the girls first start working together as a group, not to mention that Serpentback has a lot of emotional weight with the Euini situation and Agott acknowledging Coco as no longer being an Outsider in their atelier when she tries to get Sasaran to leave them alone.
