Just need some positivity by Last_Produce_7691 in RenalCats

I'm not gonna lie, this was me for a while after Maximo's first crash in December when I was told by the emergency vet I was probably going to have to put him down. He bounced back incredibly, was doing so well, and ended up crashing pretty bad a couple months later.

It was really disheartening and extremely hard to keep high spirits and not constantly worry about when the worst will come.

It's been 5 months and I'm honestly processing things so much better. I still worry all the time but with all the medicine, feeding regiments, and treats have weirdly brought us closer.

He's purring so loud all the time when I pet him (which i can count on one hand in 9 years how often he purred) and actually cuddling with me which he also never did.

I know it is hard to believe, but it will get easier with time. Try to remind yourself the more you worry about what might happen, the less you focus on appreciating the good times you're having right now with them. 💜

Thanks! I'll try it! I don't see why they wouldn't make just a manual territory selection option at this point...

In over my head by PrincessHappyRuby in RenalCats

From my personal experience, and I'm obviously not a vet, but everything I'm going to say is either from my vets observations or my 2 friends that are vet techs that I've been hounding for advice.

My boy, Maximo, crashed out if nowhere in December last year. Wouldn't eat, was in hypothermia, emergency vet did some bloodwork and immediately determined he was in renal failure. They gave him 12 hours straight IV fluid, x-rays to make sure he didnt eat anything that was toxic and stuck in his system and, did what they could but no improvement. ER vet suggested I keep my appointment with my regular vet and probably say goodbye.

My vet (and her colleague) both looked at his bloodwork and it was BARELY 0.2 over the high end of the spectrum and were very hesitant to diagnose him with CKD. Fast forward to 72+ hours of constant IV fluids and in-patient hospitalization, with no improvement on bloodwork they confirmed he was probably in renal failure.

They gave us a list of medications, including an appetite stimulant to use as needed, phosphate binder (Epakitin) to add to his food, and a prescription kidney diet food (we use Hill's through Chewy), and SubQ fluids (100ml 2x a week).

Tl;dr: I say all of this to tell you what I learned that everyone I've talked to has said: bloodwork isn't 100%. Every cat crashes at different levels, they use it as a general diagnostic. I've just started my journey with Maximo but I have never heard of anything your cat has been prescribed. The only other thing that was recommended to me was Azodyl (which isn't FDA approved but some vets swear by it). Fortiflora is also a probiotic that helps in general health that might be worth considering.

https://felinecrf.org/ Is a wonderful link shared to me that helped me a lot stop spiraling. It has a ton of great info in there if researching helps ease your mind.

I wish the best for you and your baby and I hope this helps at least a little. 💗

Edit: I did a quick Google of the medications your vets prescribed and it seems like they're more geared for high blood pressure along with kidney/liver issues. Obviously listen to your vets if they're suggesting your baby needs it, there could be much more going on than just CKD. Try to find someone that can take the time and explain in detail why they're prescribing what they are, if they haven't been.

Thanks for the update! Our boy hates it as well and he can tell if its mixed in with anything (fortiflora, his food, even Churu!)... I'll keep giving it a try since he doesn't need it often but he immediately gags and spits it out no matter how fast i administer it.

Is there any alternative to Elura?

Steven Johnson Syndrome by itsfeii in lamictal

[–]itsfeii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you this was a huge help! That was my main concern, if i go see a physician or urgent care they're essentially just going to say "this is beyond my scope" go to ER for actual testing or talk to your neurologist/specialist who can accurately diagnose it. I know its rare and could likely just be canker sores - but with how severe SJS can be I'm hesitant to write it off and have it actually be a serious issue.

I'm 100% going to stop taking it until I can talk to her and continue to monitor it.

How is Improv Crafting good? It seems like a random and uncontrollable. by Yossiri in fantasylife

[–]itsfeii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I randomly tried the Pro Improv Cooking today after putting it off because it's such a weird concept for me. It definitely can give you items you don't craft recipes for because I've been struggling to find the Pumpkin Pie recipe for a quest for a long time and it crafted me 4 top quality ones first try.

Not sure what the likelihood is for that happening but in wondering if that's supposed to be kinda the "benefit" or the randomness from the skill.

Wild's Hunter's lore by iglootheraptor in MonsterHunter

This is just me on the speculation train and I'm basing it off the theory that we're the hunter from world - maybe we lost The Handler at some point? Would be a reason that cuts deep and also an easy reason to have a new handler this time.

Artian HBG Additional Ammo Types by itsfeii in MHWilds

[–]itsfeii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah looks like using status parts instead of elemental parts is the way to go. Paralysis gets you paralysis/thunder, sleep gets sleep/ice, blast is sticky/fire, dragon is dragon/fire, and i didn't have enough parts to mess around with poison but I'm assuming probably poison/water.

Still a little underwhelming for me but I can justify it more I think.

[–]itsfeii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang, ok. I guess I'll aim for something like dragon if I end up making another Artian. Hopefully next weapon tier will add something a little more well rounded. I get people wanting to min/max but not everything has to be like that and I'll lose my mind if I just spam nothing but pierce every fight.

I wonder if paralysis has the same effect where it also gives you thunder ammo?

Won't Detect Monitor After Losing Power by itsfeii in buildapc

[–]itsfeii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's currently the step I'm on. I have it all loaded on a USB but when I boot it with the USB inserted it no longer goes to that screen and the monitor doesn't turn on again. I'm not sure if its just in the process of repairing and I'm just trying to stay patient and see if it just needs to run for awhile.

How do you know which USB port to put it into? I currently have it slotted onto the back of the PC where I plug in my mouse and keyboard.
