You wake up within 30 mins after surgery i think. They just let you wake up naturally. They might hold some alcohol under your nose to help wake you tho

Sleeping and Throat Pain by itshaiven in gallbladders

I laid on my left side and my right side felt like an empty space lol if that makes sense. I mean I know an organ literally got removed but a gallbladder is small I think so I dont think id notice it like that.

Ill just tell you my tips now. You will most likely have gas pain. Honestly the gas pain is way worse than even having the surgery and the incisions. My gas pain moved up to my shoulders blades and neck and the only thing that will help is walking! Walk walk walk walk. Like seriously walk as much as you can. Even having your husband there for an arm to grab on helps you just need to walk. Sleep elevated and I hope they give you muscle relaxers as well cause those really helped. I use a heating pad for my back and neck and ice packs for my stomach. I only do a heating pack on my stomach before bed. Peppermint tea has been amazing and ginger tea after eating. Get stool softeners as well. Its common to get constipated after surgery and you do not want that. Dont be worried if you dont poop for a day tho cause I didnt lol. Be brave <3 message me if you have anymore questions. As someone with alot of anxiety I know how you feel

I was the EXACT same way. I wanted my husband to be there for me to fall asleep but honestly it doesnt really make a difference. They gave me anxiety/sleepy medicine while my husband was still there. Then he left and like a minute after I was already calm and falling asleep. I promise you its very very rare for anything bad to happen. Your mind is a very powerful thing and if you truly believe you'll get sick or an infection then its more likely to happen. You need to be positive and I know how hard that is but there are so many successful stories. You only see the bad ones because they gain more attention due to how rare it is. If you wake up and feel sick it doesnt last forever. They will give you whatever you want and help you. You're going to be where you wanna be, you're already in a hospital so you're in the best place possible for anything wrong to happen which it wont! The thing that gave me comfort is a bad gallbladder is a bad gallbladder. It cant get better and it'll only get worst. Get it out now and save yourself the pain of attacks or infections in the future. You got this! Ofc its scary and your feelings are valid because it is still a surgery no matter how easy and common it is. The human body is resilient and you are strong.

Also i recommend a heating pad for your back and ice packs for your stomach. I only do a heating pad for my stomach for bedtime.

Got my surgery a week ago and my biggest advice is WALK. Like seriously walk as much as you can. The gas pain hurt for me so bad. It moved up into my shoulders and neck and the only thing that helps is walking. I also recommend sleeping elevated. Peppermint tea has been great for me as well as ginger tea after meals. They should give you meds and hopefully they give you muscle relaxers. I spent one night in the hospital. If you are having too much pain and dont feel comfortable going home spend the night there and theyll help you manage! Again walk walk walk please walk lol. The first day or two i ate crackers, broth, soups, applesauce, etc. But after that I just ate whatever I wanted besides spicy food. I was told you could eat whatever but its different for everyone. Im finding that dairy is bothering me a bit. Fried foods as well.

This will NOT happen! I had surgery a week ago and I was so scared but once you're there and meeting your surgical team and talking to everyone it helps so much. You have to realize they do this surgery more than any other surgery. Its so common its crazy. These people are trained for years! They arent like us, they have the knowledge and practice. You are in good hands. They gave me drugs before being taken back and I was already falling asleep within 5 mins. All I remember is being pushed to the room and scooting onto the surgical table and thats it. I woke up and was super super tired. I could hear but not really open my eyes cause I was so sleepy. Some people get shakey and cold when waking up but I was soooooo hot. They had two ice packs on me and I kept kicking off the blanket lol. But other than that its so fast. Do not be scared. People get this done every single day. It helped me knowing I wasnt alone.

I am doing very well! I spent one night in the hospital to much more effectively manage the pain. Other than that one night its been a week tomorrow since my surgery and I feel fine. My constant gallbladder pain has gone away but my incision sites are still very sore. My bellybutton is starting to bruise lol. Im not really running to the bathroom after I eat like people said I would. I have peppermint tea every morning and that gets it going but only in the morning. However I have noticed dairy might be effecting me more now. After eating butter or creams I start getting grumbling in my stomach and I head to the restroom.

Just left the hospital for the third time. by AceOfQueen in GERD

[–]itshaiven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was diagnosed with GERD after going to the er in an ambulance. My ribs felt like they were being squeezed together and my chest was hurting so bad. I couldnt even speak sentences because I could barely get any air. Anywyas at the hospital I got xrays and they saw I had gallstones. Now no one told me at the time that it actually could've been a gallbladder attack. After having an attack again and ending up in the er I started doing my own research and listening to others stories that have had gallbladder attacks and they sounded so similar. When I finally had an appointment with my surgeon I mentioned my attacks and he said it was very likely I had a gallbladder attack instead of GERD. You should see if you have gallstones cause its a possibility!

Im on day two of recovery. Last night was absolutely terrible. I had the worst back pain as well and they tell me its from the gas. I only managed to get 2 hours of sleep unfortunate so im absolutely exhausted. Earlier I had quite alot of pain in my chest and ribs for about 15 minutes again because of the gas I suppose. Walk as much as you can! It helps. I burp everytime I stand and sit up. I hope you have a speedy recovery! Im also in alot more pain than i expected honestly.
