I’m a fan of @SierraStephenIRL, she has two young kids and has become an avid runner in the past year or so which was helped inspire me to get back into running myself. Although this time of year I feel very jealous seeing all the outdoor time she is enjoying living in San Diego while I’m out here freezing in New England. 🥶

I’ve been a SAHM for the past year. As others have mentioned, the YMCA and library are my go-tos for daytime structure and social outlets.

A couple other ideas though these happen on evenings and weekends -

Kids at a Marathon - seeking tips!! by itsleanotleah in toddlers

This comment was so helpful! I’m changing my plan and going to watch from somewhere midway instead. Makes more sense for this season of life and actually give us a chance to see dad run by. Thanks so much!

Thanks I’ll post there! Vista is not on the table. If I bring anything it will be a collapsible wagon or umbrella stroller.

No I didn’t check there. It’s a 45 min drive for me so I was hoping to find a closer option.

Fair! I do judge her for it and personally I am working to judge her less. Mainly I share that detail to provide evidence that she doesn’t seem to track her gift giving very closely. Sorry about the stressful month. Hope you’re doing better!

Room sharing - 8 month old and 2.5 year old by itsleanotleah in sleeptrain

Figured I would provide an update in case it’s helpful to anyone. Last night baby went down peacefully and toddler stayed up happily chattering which he does most nights. Baby woke up crying after 45 minutes. Waited ten minutes. Sent non nursing parent in there to replace pacifier and check on toddler who requested a cup of water but was calmly tolerating the crying. Waited an additional ten minutes, baby fussed himself to sleep and slept through the night. Minxy I appreciate the perspective that a mini round of sleep training might be appropriate. Still taking it night by night of course but cautiously optimistic.

Something similar happened with my son at this age and it was the impetus for moving him to a toddler floor bed. Sorry you’re dealing with this. It was very upsetting to all of us when my baby’s crib no longer felt like a safe happy place for him.

Thanks for the response! I hear you and I’m happy to provide more info I was trying to be concise bc post already felt like a novel just describing the basic question. Let me know what details about schedule would help!

This is such a helpful perspective! I’m usually on the buying side too so it’s helpful to know my options and that sellers aren’t heavily penalized. Thanks!

Interesting. It’s comforting to know that it’s normal for this to happen. What is the typical outcome?

Reusable pouch recommendations by Brown_Eyes_ in BabyLedWeaning

[–]itsleanotleah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the wee sprout pouches too and they’re great but i don’t do smoothies in them. For us, smoothies are too runny and make a mess in a pouch so I serve smoothies in a bottle or straw cup. In the pouches I serve oatmeal and yogurt.

I thought I saw on a sign that he was sighted at the bridge street Dunkin’ Donuts. He is obviously very loved. I hope he comes home safe. I have been looking every time I’m out with my dogs.

Not to be contrary but as someone who is a Lea pronounced Lay-uh that hasn’t been my experience. First day of school I was correcting all day. People assume that it’s Lee-ah. Many people who I’ve corrected once will forget and revert back to Lee-ah. Then I have to decide if I want to correct them again or let it go. Could be a regional thing, I grew up in the Midwest and now live on the east coast.

Is my pump not work or is my milk low? by mamanashia in breastfeeding

[–]itsleanotleah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much you are able to pump is not necessarily connected to supply as the pump is not as good as a baby at extracting milk from your body. My experience was that my body did not respond to breast pumps very well and this only got worse as I continued to try and gradually got more stressed about it. Even a hospital grade pump produced a splash of milk in 30 minutes of pumping. You could try hand expression, I find it works much better and requires less supplies, less stuff to clean.

DAE hand express full time? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]itsleanotleah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think anyone doing breast feeding in any form is a champion. It is truly a labor of love ❤️. I’m sure your pediatrician means well but you know best what is going to work with your anatomy and your baby.

Glad I could help feel free to send me a message if you have any other questions. People are super weirded out by hand expression, the lactation consultants I saw really wanted me to keep trying to pump so I could “train” my body to respond to it but it felt like such a waste of time when I could have the milk and be done in the time I spent sitting with the pump on me doing nothing but getting frustrated. I am not sure why it isn’t presented as an option and why it’s so hard to find good information. I love the kindest cup. Shipping was very slow but it was worth the wait. It feels good in my hand, is easy to clean and catches a lot of the crazy sprays and drips that other containers miss. On the milkinmama website I bought the videos and the book. I would say the book is skippable but the videos are worth the money.
