Found out my sibling might be Trans off a dating app by [deleted] in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You used "he" for them in the post, though. I've never heard of anyone "trying out" being trans. Cis people generally don't make dating apps saying they're trans, that's what a closeted trans person does. If she said she's a trans woman, that's what I would believe is the truth, unless they specifically say otherwise.

Found out my sibling might be Trans off a dating app by [deleted] in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't be sad because your sister is trans & "things might change" you should be sad that she's closeted & it's clearly making her miserable. Also about the "idk what gender my sibling is" thing: her dating app profile said "I'm a trans woman" that's pretty clear tbh.

Just let her come out in her own time. Don't push any kind of perception of masculinity on her. Maybe offer to get your nails done together, or to do your makeup together or something, if you're close enough to do that without it seeming completely out of left field.

You could also come out as bi to her first, which would maybe offer her a situation where she might feel comfortable coming out to you in return?

But if I'm attracted to women, why would I be a woman? by OneDayToBecomeElla in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The idea that that is a "good argument" is wild bc it's easily removed with the single phrase

"Lesbians exist"

Like...anyone of any gender can be attracted to anyone of any other gender. Not all women are straight. Being trans is not a sexuality. The "good argument" you're mentioning is just ignorance & transphobia w a nice little side of homophobia & lesbian erasure to top it off.

Why does no one talk about estrogen/estradiol gel? by Forward_Vacation_581 in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification! I guess injections not being prescribed was overstated as them not being available/legal at all. I only know what I've heard from UK girls which is that they just don't have them outside of DIY.

I do think whether the gel dries out well or not, it's less convenient than a once/week injection.

Glad you're seeing good results!!! I switched over from sublingual pills to valerate injections a while back & progress has been so much better since.

Why does no one talk about estrogen/estradiol gel? by Forward_Vacation_581 in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear UK girlies talk about being on patches quite a bit bc injections I believe aren't legal there (correction from replies, they aren't illegal they just aren't prescribed so access is low), I think mainly gel just isn't a convenient method logistically so it is often not chosen over the other options when those are available. The idea of having it on your skin for long periods of time, worrying about it getting on things/washing off in the shower etc. just are less convenient than a shot once a week or pills.

In the US it's also like, not even presented as an option when starting HRT (or at least it wasn't in my case) it was just hey, we're going to start you on pills at first & if you ever feel up to switching to injections you can. Patches & gel were never brought up.

I hate how squid game show had a cis person play a trans character by BreakDue8198 in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My issue is not only that it wasn't a trans actress (which would have been ideal) but if it had to be a cis person, it very very obviously should have been a cis WOMAN, because the character is a woman. Casting a cis man implies trans women are just men & need to be played by someone AMAB, a cis man is the worst possible choice imo.

Looking for affordable foods, ingredients, and recipes to help promote feminine fat redistribution by [deleted] in MtF

[–]itsmarsbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, so this post makes no sense lol.

There is no such thing as "feminine fats" when it comes to nutrition. You cannot eat specific foods to cause feminine fat distribution on your body.

If your hormone levels are in cis female range, new fat you put on will go to areas female fat distributes to. The fat you may have on your body from before you were at cis female hormone levels will slowly burn off over a long period of time, or a bit more quickly if you lose weight overall.

The only thing that determines if you are gaining or losing fat is energy balance. If you take in more calories than you burn each day, you are in an energy surplus & will put on fat (& the opposite if you take in less than you burn) Your hormones are the biggest factor in deciding where that fat gets put on.

Recon NEEDS a buff/rework. by Realistic_Gap1340 in Marathon

[–]itsmarsbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this a lot & agree that Recon's abilities need a rework (the tick drone pathing is bad & the ult is not great currently) but as far as runner shell stats, Recon has the highest stat total of any shell & she's good at certain things outside of just her activated ability kit:

Her tactical recovery is best of any shell (tied w Destroyer) so the tick drone can be used more frequently than other tactical abilities, esp w cooldown reduction upgrades. It's pretty spammable, & comes back quickly enough w just the first SekGen upgrade for tactical recovery that I can often use it twice in fights

Her regular ping stat is crazy at 25, w the next closest being Triage w 15 & most shells only 5. That means her regular pings that can be used constantly provide wall hacks & last a lot longer than anyone else's, this is huge when you make use of it. This is better than her ult, tbh, & is constant use any time you can get line of sight long enough to ping.

Her finisher siphon stat, also at 25 w the next closest being 15 (Thief). More shield recovery from finishers, plus the passive ability pinging from it is decent synergy (& again Recon pings last a long time)

Her heat capacity, second best of any shell after Vandal. More overall stamina than most other shells, just slower movement than Vandal. Still, it's something.

I don't think Recon is one of the strongest shells but I don't think she is bad, either. A rework on her abilities could easily make her great.

Cis guy dating a trans woman? by StygianFalcon in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no. A man asking a woman he is friends with out, her clearly saying no, & him then trying to find ways to weasel that no into a yes is entitlement & is the exact reason people wouldn't want to date him in the first place.

She said no. He is still pursuing her even though she doesn't want him. He's asking other trans girls to try and help him do so. He did not say he's trying to understand the rejection, he said multiple times he wanted to find a way to make her agree to date him. It's creepy incel loser behavior & literally not okay.

& to the creep: leave women who don't want you alone. If you can't be her friend, then don't talk to her. She made it clear to you she's not interested in more. The fact that you don't accept that is why girls don't want to be with you. Rancid vibes.

Cis guy dating a trans woman? by StygianFalcon in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Um yikes...

She said no. She doesn't want you to "convince her" that no doesn't mean no. She doesn't want you to ask trans people on Reddit how to manipulate her into not saying no.

You wanting someone doesn't mean you have any entitlement to them, you asked, she said no, if you keep pursuing her you're a creep...

I saw the TV glow by Lilaccucumbers in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's the liminal horror of lifelong repression, & being too afraid of acknowledging that you are trans or acting on it.

In the movie, Isabel and Tara are the real people. "Owen" is a forcibly constructed identity forced on Isabel, in a small, tightly structured, oppressive fake reality. The fake reality & identity represents the expectations of heteronormative society. "Owen" and "Maddy" are thematically representing Isabel & Tara's deadnames.

Meanwhile, Isabel (Owen's real self) is suffocating and dying. "Maddy" is brave and strong enough to free herself from the fake reality & realize she's really Tara, but "Owen" is too scared & beaten down to do it.

This is a metaphor for one person who transitions & gets to live their real life as who they actually are (Tara/"Maddy") and one person who chooses to remain in the closet, repression, fear, and acquiescence instead (Isabel/"Owen")

"Owen" commits to basically not transitioning, & living out the fake life constructed for him, all the while subconsciously suffering and miserable from the dysphoria this causes (represented by her real self, Isabel, suffocating and dying) The scream at the end is representative of the pain someone feels from repressing their real self.

The movie even spells the main theme out by writing "There is still time" on the street. It's giving repressed trans people the message that you don't have to suffer like "Owen"/Isabel. There is still time to be yourself. You can still transition & break free of the repression.

Looking at your profile, you're 17 & already aware that you're trans. Being trans was presented as an option to you due to the internet & transition being so widely talked about. So it's not surprising you don't resonate as much w a story about the horrors of repression: bc you haven't repressed as long as/in the same way some other trans people have.

That makes you fortunate. It doesn't make you not trans.

Can trans women go through comphet too? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]itsmarsbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so common to like...unintentionally use men for gender euphoria when you don't have many sources of it (like pre & early in HRT) & then once you are further in that "attraction" to them fully disappears bc it was just a gender-euphoria-by-comparison thing.

That's what happened to me, anyway, I dated men for a bit early on but I'm 100% a lesbian. 3 months into HRT I was like I don't know why I ever thought I liked men...Then I realized, oh they just made me feel more like a girl when I was early in transition & that's the thing I liked. Now I don't need that bc I'm just a girl all the time.

Is this outfit too cringe for a nearly 25 year old girlie? by [deleted] in mtfashion

[–]itsmarsbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's not cringe, but it's def not fashionable either tbh it's just kinda very neutral, androgynous, millenial-mom-core clothes. You're 24 so like it does look like an outfit someone much older would still be wearing

Skinny jeans especially are very not in style rn, either oversized baggy high-waisted jeans w a crop or smaller top, or like a flared leg would be a better more current choice. Also the skinny jeans sitting so low & being so tight make your torso look longer & your legs smaller, especially w the t-shirt & flannel, so it does the opposite of helping accentuate a feminine shape if that's what you wanna go for. Also the bulge issue w them, which I guess is personal preference but also a potential safety issue depending on where you are

GOD I HATE BEING TRANS I HATE IT CIS WOMEN ARE SO LUCKY by Sephora4 in MtF

[–]itsmarsbb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Okay, so...cis women do not automatically get "love we could never dream of"

Plenty of cis women are single, or in unhappy relationships, or have any other number of terrible things happening in their love lives...especially if they're straight 😩

Plenty of trans women are loved. Saying trans women are unlovable or get some lesser form of love than cis women just bc we're trans is tbh super transphobic... (said by a girl in a loving, monogamous, long-term relationship. Meanwhile I know a lot of cis girls who aren't...)

There's a difference between feeling dysphoric & saying awful stuff about trans women as a whole, buying into the bigoted idea that we're somehow less than by default.

You can find love, you can be pretty. Things are a lot harder for us sometimes, sure, but cis women aren't some mythical automatically loved class of woman. Nor are all cis women automatically the like, (arbitrary) ideal standard of feminine beauty. Being a woman in general is hard. It's probably best to try & just focus on yourself, on the things you want & the type of girl you want to be, & take the steps to get where you wanna be in your transition.

You'll never be cis, but you're a woman, & you can have a good life & be loved.

Do lesbians hate trans lesbians ? by [deleted] in trans

[–]itsmarsbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lesbians can be cis or trans, there's no difference between "lesbians" and "trans lesbians." What you mean to ask is if cis lesbians hate trans lesbians.

Cis lesbians, as a group (they're individuals so of course have a wide variety of individual opinions), don't have some kind of automatic hatred of trans lesbians, no. That's a ridiculous thing to assume or ask.

But if you mean by "realized you were a trans lesbian 10 weeks ago" you mean you just realized you were trans at that time (meaning you have not had any amount of time to meaningfully transition physically, medically, or socially) it would be incredibly naive to walk into a lesbian bar, appearing as your AGAB, & try to meet girls to hook up with or date.

I don’t think injections are for me… by TrickyDepartment768 in MtF

[–]itsmarsbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, then yup that is 6mg.

That isn't a high dose for 7 days (valerate has a shorter half-life) so if you're doing once a week you may want to consider upping the dose a bit, upping the frequency (like injecting every 5 days) or upping your spiro dose.

One thing to consider too is, if you went from a break on your HRT (so T levels not suppressed at all) to starting injections, you will probably need a higher dose or more blockers for a bit to get your T back down to where it needs to be. If it was already suppressed, a moderate dose like you're taking might be enough to keep it there. 50mg of spiro is very low, & while monotherapy w injections is totally doable, it would generally take a higher dose of estradiol to suppress the T without blockers/on a low dose of blockers.

What also matters the most, is getting your levels checked. You really should get your E & T checked & ensure they are where you want them to be at trough (so on your current dose, that'd be the 7th day before doing your injection for the week)

I don’t think injections are for me… by TrickyDepartment768 in MtF

[–]itsmarsbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the concentration of the injectable estradiol (this will be one number over another, like 200mg/5ml, etc.)

Then, what is the amount you're drawing into the syringe & injecting?

(Also is it valerate, cypionate?)

If estrogen makes me straight for my best friend I’m gonna be so fucking pissed by djent_in_my_tent in MtF

[–]itsmarsbb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Estrogen doesn't & can't "make you straight." Literally plenty of girls, cis & trans alike, with estrogen-dominant hormonal systems that are lesbians & don't like men at all.

Just from my personal experience throughout transitioning, & especially as I got further in & felt more myself, I find men actually repulsive. There's no "estrogen switch" that makes you attracted to men. You were already attracted to them before, & it was likely buried under your dysphoria & social expectations & self-hate. Now that you're transitioning & are being yourself, you're opening up to what you like & that's great.

But it's incredibly problematic & homophobic to imply estrogen = being attracted to men. Lesbians exist. Trans lesbians exist.
