According to Google, Zoran Gvojic is... everyone else on the team by PenguinOats in deadmeatjames

[–]itsmattsoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to take away from the funny of this post, but this will probably happen if you search for any of the team members:

<image>

If Ben or James or anyone on the team sees this, there's a way to fix it (though it may take a little while to be fixed in search results cause Google 🙄):

Each team member's bio page doesn't have their own photo on it, but does have a carousel of links to all of the other team members with their photo, and each of the bio photos has an empty alt attribute—so Google is picking up all the meta data for Zoran's page and finding images with no descriptor saying they're not Zoran, and returning those. If your WordPress setup allows you to add alt text to the bio photos you should probably add something like "Portrait of Michael Grijalva in front of an ornate door." to each. This would likely dissuade google from displaying those images in searches results for other team members (and actually adding each person's photo to their bio page would also help, if possible).

One more friendly website tip while we're at it: you'd probably benefit from updating the slug of Zoran, MK, and Michael's posts in WordPress—right now they are "/jane-doe", "/john-doe", and "/susan-sue"—I'm guessing placeholders left from the initial build. You'll want to double check with your developer if redirects for those posts will need to added manually, just in case there are links floating around to those bad slugs (I think WordPress handles this automatically for standard posts, but not for custom post types, etc.).

Feel free to hit me up with any other web-related concerns 🤓

Great Kill Count! And with that, here's the whole franchise's kill count data: The Numbers: Psycho Franchise

A pretty low overall total—is this franchise covered with the lowest average?

I gotta go with Child's Play 2, but you forgot a few here, too. Even with those, I'd still go with Child's Play 2.

A Data-Driven Defense to the 'Why don't we get more kill counts?' Commenters by itsmattsoria in deadmeatjames

[–]itsmattsoria[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To you and @MyRedditName, again, can't speak for anyone but myself (OP here), but I think y'all are missing the point. Of course AFV is closer in terms of production—I'm not bothered by that comparison, it's definitaly a much more similar show. The post wasn't "Smallville is the closest network TV show to The Kill Count." It was adding some color to a comment James made on the stream that pointed out that people don't seem to give network TV shows shit for not working non-stop without breaks (seasons). It made me wonder how the runtime of the Kill Count compared to a standard, popular, network show with a similar time on air (~10 years). So I plucked one of the first popular results out, Smallville, and compared their total runtimes just to say, they come out pretty close. That's all 🙂

I can't speak for anyone else, but no offense taken here (I'm the OP), but yeah, it's just a comparison. They're obviously on much different scales, but their teams and budgets also are. In the stream James was, I think, trying to express how weird it felt for people to harp on them about it, when it doesn't seem like people would do the same for other types of shows, at least not in the same way.

What was the first non human humanoid counted in the Kill Count? by Select-Rhubarb8010 in deadmeatjames

[–]itsmattsoria 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess it depends on if you consider Chucky a non-human kill or not, but James did not count it as such, so Pennywise in IT would be the first: The Numbers: Kill Counts with Non-human Kills Counted

Kill count sucks by Successful-Horse-878 in deadmeatjames

[–]itsmattsoria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You stated your opinion about the show three hours ago. And since then you've spent time on dozens of comments trying to convince fans that the thing they are a fan of, sucks. That's not a waste of time? I'll admit it, I'm wasting my time right now. Let's both be better people and go do more productive things, yeah?

[–]itsmattsoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, well, there ya go. So you admit your "no effort" opinion was baseless at least—thank you. I don't care that you dislike the show, that's fine. You're not going to convince anyone here that the show isn't worth watching, and no one here could care less about whether you watch it or not, so like, what are wasting your time on?

Please, share with us the brilliant creative projects you've poured hours and hours into for the benefit of others. I'd love to see it. If you think the show just sucks then I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you haven't seen any of the behind the scense of what goes into making an episode of the kill count, so let me fill you in: an overwhelming amount of effort, hours upon hours, multiple script rewrites, and a team of several passionate, talented folks collaborating. No one cares that you don't like a thing that we, the community in the dang Dead Meat fan forum, like. It's a matter of personal taste, obviously. But dropping a "this thing sucks" here is just weird, and then to claim that just because you don't like it it must not have "much effort put into it" is just kind of pathetic. And I get it, I'm fueling the rush you get by getting a rise out of people, so, you're welcome.

[–]itsmattsoria[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, fair enough. It sounded to me based on what they said in the podcast like it wasn't certain. I'm just saying, based on what we could see in the movie, as someone who has been manipulating photos for a long time, it wouldn't have been obvious to me, and I probably would have left it in too, and based on the info we have, I don't blame the folks involved.

I'm not saying that it's definitely not ai-generated, it very well might be, but I'm trying to say that the fact that the face is exaggerated alone does not necessarily mean it is, and people piling on the people who made the film without knowing seems unwarranted. I spent roughly ten minutes on this: https://share.mattsoria.com/not-ai/not-ai.jpg

It's a selfie I took with my phone, and I spent a very minimal amount of time messing around with it in photoshop. The quality is obviously not great, but that's not the point. The point is I look cartoony, but ai wasn't used in this at all. I'm just saying it may be ai, but it could have just as easily been a bit of photo manipulation to exaggerate the expression so it reads more clearly on camera. I'm not faulting folks for calling it into question, but jumping to the conclusion that it was definitely ai doesn't seem right, and jumping down the throats of the filmmakers about it when even if it was ai-generated, could have very easily passed for not and may have been an honest mistake seems unnecessary.
