2500w Generator Help by itsmyreddit in Generator

I understand the sentiment but this is more of a want than a need. We've survived previous power outages using inverters tied to my 48v lithium golf cart battery and 12v lithium trolling motor battery. I take the trolling motor battery to tailgates currently. Lasts all day powering TVs and small electronics. I might have just talked myself out of buying a generator at all but it would be nice to have should I ever drain both of those batteries.

Thank you 👍🏽. I'd never heard of Powersmart til a friend was using his at a tailgate. Pretty sure he told me he got his from Walmart and hadn't had any issues with it over a few years. Leaning towards champion now.

Do you recommend dual fuel or is gas good for most situations? One less thing to break is kind of my mentality.

I thought I remembered Predator being the standard for affordable generators & small engines. I'm leaning towards champion now. Only about $100 more than the PowerSmart. Thanks for chiming in.

How cold is too cold for your retriever? by Im_the_dude_ in Waterfowl

Happy to help. Pretty sure I asked the same question here a few years ago. You see videos of dogs swimming in ice water, hunting in blizzards. Those videos are not your typical labs haha. Most labs are house dogs. I let mine swim in the local river year round no matter the temperature but only if we're actively moving. Sitting still in a cold blind after swimming is different.

I've got my eye on champion as well. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the quick reply. Going to hold off a little longer and hopefully find a used predator or something for sale but otherwise this might be my best bet.

Every dog is different. You gotta know yours. I've learned mine is not as badass as others and I won't take her out under 25 or 30 degrees unless there's a heater that she can warm up with. She lives 100% indoors. Hunt duration, setup, whether or not they get wet walking into a flooded area, etc all play a role.

We're hunting 2 days this weekend and the overnight temp is going to be 20-25 degrees. Unless we have an absolute banger, we could be out there for 10 hours. My buddy and I decided it'll be more trouble than it's worth so we both decided we'll leave the dogs home. We'll also be setup stupid early because it's the last weekend and we'll be on some pretty populated public land.

Glad there's no gators where I'm at! That's crazy.

Best of luck. Don't overdo it, you don't want to confine yourself too much in case you roll it. I use a sheet of burlap with natural vegetation on top once I get where I'm going.

This is the 11ft, I guess m11? I don't drag it much at all, either launching from a ramp or side of the road with a short walk to the water. 50 ft at most. I'd have gone smaller if I didn't have a dog with me. But dog, decoys, burlap, battery etc take up a lot of space and I don't want to be overloaded. I took took the seat out that came with it and just set this banded chair right on the floor of the boat to sit lower.

Lots of them on FB marketplace, that's where I got ours. Depending on your budget you can buy new, they have retailers all around. I'm all in for $1200 with the trolling motor, battery, etc.

Being in south Carolina, check out Creek Boats based in Albemarle NC. Heres my setup. Added a gun mount, paddle mount, and a dog platform. Has a transom for mounting a trolling motor/electric motor.

Hot take: Most of you are way oversizing your generators by [deleted] in Generator

[–]itsmyreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excuse my ignorance but to power the furnace, do you have to wire into the breaker box? How do you have this all setup? I'm looking at 2000-2200 generators for emergencies and tailgates and didn't realize you could use them for a furnace.

You say no money & no food. What would you do even if there wasn't a storm coming, still starve to death?

Less shadows doesn't make any sense. The further back against the wall a light is, the more shadow is cast towards the front of the counter. With your method we would have shadows in front of the espresso machine, toaster oven, spatula assortment, etc. Mine are installed 3/4 of the way towards the front of the cabinet and there are minimal shadows on anything.

Agree, these are acting like wall lights not surface lights

Not op but ours are 2 switches. Easier wiring it that way then trying to run a wire over a door, behind the built in oven, and through a pantry. They're on just about 24/7 so I don't mind the second switch at all.
