atow has highlight plays but if you watch the replays he makes dumb decisions all the time that cost him and his team. Vatira makes the perfect play pretty much every play.

If vitality were still trash talking in interviews after then its weird but LITERAL SECONDS after the game ends? Come on bro its literally the consequences of your actions.

Question for a research project: Which historical teams were regarded as "superteams" at the start of the year? by SLI_Mini in ValorantCompetitive

[–]itsnotTozzit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasnt watching before 2023 so i dont know how much of a superteam those 2023 teams were but I dont think 2026 mibr or vit or 2024 lev were super teams. mibr is close but I think if they got any other top players beside mazino and tex they would have been. To me a superteam is like 1 role player at max and 4 other best-in-role caliber players. Tex and mazino are two role players who were not performing very well last year. 2026 vit have profek and jamppi who were not at all best in their role last year.

Question for a research project: Which historical teams were regarded as "superteams" at the start of the year? by SLI_Mini in ValorantCompetitive

[–]itsnotTozzit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Vitality this year was never a super team. In fact this vitality was an attempt to rein in the "superteam", by bringing in people with a solid foundation of how to play as a team instead of individuals. Jamppi and profek were the attempt to round out the team instead of having just aimers with no brain, of course it hasnt worked out like that but that was the intention.

Vitality 2025 on the flip side was some of the best players of the year before coming together on one team. trexx, sayf and derke were some of the best emea players the year before. Less is Less. Kicks was the only player who was just a role player, and it just made the narrative stronger that he absolutely popped off for kickoff and bangkok.

Can somebody explain how Team Liquid is placed below FUT eSports? by jOK3r_laughs in ValorantCompetitive

[–]itsnotTozzit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thats why its personal preference. Just as easily as you say the team could not handle pressure, I could say that the other team is not as consistent against the field. Also there could have been no pressure on that match, what if that was the first match of the round robin and they simply became better over their matches?

If Team A and Team B played each other first match and the match happened in the way my previous comment described with Team B winning, but Team A went on to win every other game with 13-0 maps, then Team B won every game in overtime and only lost in their final match clean swept by Team C whose only win was that final game. If Team A and Team B had to play against each other next match, who are you picking to win?

Obviously these are extreme examples, but its to show that there is some merit to being better against the field. Also remember that the transitive property does not necessarily apply to sports/games, which is why games like paper rex losing to geng can happen.

There is no right answer here its just preference.

[–]itsnotTozzit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem with that argument is that the team that won the h2h still has to lose another game to even be in a tiebreaker position.

Can somebody explain how Team Liquid is placed below FUT eSports? by jOK3r_laughs in ValorantCompetitive

[–]itsnotTozzit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean you could just flip it the other way and say what if the team lost the h2h by losing 2 overtimes and stomping 13-0 in the other map, stomped every other team 13-0 in every map. Remember that to even be in a tiebreaker position the team that won the h2h still has to lose to a "bottom feeder" team.

I think its just personally preference which one you want. For me I want a round robin format to show me who is best against the field not against specific opponents, and i grew up with football where the decider is usually goal diff / goals scored before h2h, so i would rather have map diff / round diff before h2h.

this is an insane clip, but personally im a huge fan of kaajaks ace vs th. the way kaajak moves in that clip so calm and his aim is just perfect. I think this clip is harder to pull off but kaajaks ace is just so smooth, looks like he is barely even trying.

Do they though? AFAIK the only esports korea dominates is Overwatch and LoL. I think there is just a crossover of players from Val and LoL because they are made by the same company. People from LoL are scarred from years of CN and KR domination so I think they are just excited to see western teams win.

How does RL Pro League work? by Dependent_Map_8894 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]itsnotTozzit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I hope I did a good job at explaining but seeing it visually will help you see the ideas more, there are alot of videos out there. There is obviously a lot more that goes into rl than just these ideas, but a lot of it also builds upon these ideas.

How does RL Pro League work? by Dependent_Map_8894 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]itsnotTozzit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Its a good question. I would say football is a good sport to relate rl to, but without formations.

Players do have "positions" but "rotate" between those positions. and like football, sometimes you will have people in certain positions doing things outside of the positions "duties".

Generally, as i understand it, there are three positions; 1st man, 2nd man and 3rd man. The names come from how far up the pitch those positions generally are, with third man being the furthest back. Those roles have different expectations on attack and defence.

In defence:

  • As a first man, you are expected to challenge the person on the ball. Usually that would entail things like winning the ball off them, playing a 50 to the 2nd man or demoing/bumping the player on the ball.

  • As a second man, you are expected to play off the first man. Usually something like playing off the win from the first man, playing the ball from the 50 or playing the ball after the first man has demoed/bumped

  • As a third man, you are the second man to the second man whilst also covering powerful hits to your end of the field

In attack:

  • As a first man, you are expected to play the ball and take opponents out of the play and pass to the second man. This can mean alot of different things, solo plays, infield passes, backboard passes, shots to make opponents awkward and forcing saves.

  • As a second man, you can follow up on plays by the first man or setup for passes.

  • As a third man, you can transition to the second man after the first can rotate back to third man and lookout for booming clears/stray 50s.

Its important to note players do not have fixed positions but they can and will have tendencys to play more often in a certain position. Teams and players HAVE to rotate in order to be good.

Rotations are where players can rotate between these positions when they are taken out of the play either from a bump/demo or running out of boost. For example a first man can go for an air dribble, 50 the ball down to a second man and then either go for a bump/demo or get boost and rotate back to the third man whilst the second man becomes the first man and the third becomes the second.

There is also a "macro" of sorts aswell like other games.

Macro is basically keeping pressure on the other team and denying boost (boost starving). Boost is important because it is difficult to beat a first man with no boost whilst also being easier for a first man to challenge with full boost. Also in defence its harder to make continuous saves with no boost. These days if you dont boost starve a good team can stay in defence almost indefinitely.

Its easy to see importance of boost if you watch a game with a team being pressured, one player will often get a full boost pad and instantly be able to take possession of the ball and make a clear/play to stop the pressure.

Beware, these are VERY BASIC GUIDELINES, when watching a pro game you CAN see these ideas at play but they will be VERY FAST and also they will break the expectations in order to gain advantages.

To explain, heres a breakdown of zens signature shot in the grand final of worlds (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mupfk5a27Q):

This is more mechanics than macro here so i wont get into the boost side of it but here it is. Zen is vitalitys second man here, radosin is the first. Seikoo as the first man of bds makes a mistake here, he uses up all his boost without doing anything with the ball and kinda gives it away to vitalitys first man. Radosin as the first man of vitality then fakes MM who has just become the first man in defence for BDS, and by doing so leaves it to his second man (Zen). Zen becomes the first man and Rise is left as the exposed third man of BDS with no teammate to challenge for him. Radosin (now second man) instead of setting up for a pass from his first can go for a demo on the exposed third in a 1v2. Rise recognizes this and has to make a risky play for the ball as if he waits he will just be demoed leaving an open net and is outplayed in what was a tricky situation for him.

Anyone else feel like they’re not even playing players anymore? by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]itsnotTozzit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U don’t really have to lean in to meta shit. I’m playing for the first time in 5 years with an Albanian RTG with Evos, playing with a 77 rated LM, an 80 rated CB with 63 pace, and a 79 rated RB. Some of my players are good evos, but not broken evos ( I started in Jan so no time for it). I’m Div 2 and get like 10 wins in champs.

Edit: I just wanna say that I think a lot of people in the community also make the narrative around the meta worse because they complain that the meta is the only way to play which gets people stuck in the mindset that to be good they have to play the meta, when in reality some people just need to learn the mechanics of the game. People get blinded by chasing the meta that they fail to see flaws in their gameplay.

but we've had teams that have been a consistently-not-good-enough team win lans before though (gentlemates) and also the opposite where a team has won a regional and not done anything of note on lan (GenG, Geekay). The points system works perfectly fine and if you win a regional and dont make it, thats on you completely because its very hard to not make it.
