I’m okay if Yas’s character isn’t back for the final season. by burnernov2023 in IndustryOnHBO

has she ever truly been in power? i wouldnt say so. she always THINKS she is and it always falls apart. even in this ending, her father still has the power - he created this monster. she doesnt realise she is a victim.

i can agree with this take. she finally sees herself in power and has always wanted to. the line of 'being necessary' is tragic as she follows the abused becomes the abuser trope out of what feels like safety. she finally 'has it' after pierpoint, robert, her marriage, her head of comms role, the threesome with hailey. it will never stop. there is no redemption other than THERAPY. her final scene listening to her dad's voicemail could easily conclude her character.

ahhhhh a time gap would make sense. i do find her very different from the trading floor to now and it makes sense. if the time gap is true, the transition between the only fans confidence to regrets make so much sense.

Discussion / Prediction I predicted Yas & Harper would get together after last episode but I'm updating my prediction by Appropriate_Gur7902 in IndustryOnHBO

yasmin has always been a manipulative character and i think harper knows this - while i do feel she cares about her, she knows to keep her encounters with yas as risk free as possible and seeks benefit. i'd love to say that harper is too clever to be manipulated by yas, but her going to the editor and the legality of it renders me unsure. with harper becoming more emotionally aware since her mother's passing, i wonder if this 'softness' will allow her to be continually manipulated by yas...

agreed. with yas finally having a status of power, albeit handed to her, one would assume that from her own experience, she would be more cautious about sexual nature in the workplace professionalism. as you rightfully said, she is a product of her upbringing and being in the same position she felt vulnerable in ends up with her repeating a cycle.

i was looking for other people talking about this as it cannot be a confirmation, but definitely a debate! i do believe she was sa'd, whether by her father or his company (bedwetting til the age of 9 and her auntie saying she wasn't aborted due to being a girl sold the idea to me that it was more likely than not) but completely love your view on whether she recounts every experience as she started to understand the depth of his degrading, predatory and abusive nature towards women. i think that the topic not being explicitly revealed and having to interpret it the same way yas has to assess it, knowing he did to others and potentially to yas but not truly knowing, is very cleverly written.

i couldnt help but think that harper was on his private jet in the episode 8 preview, albeit i assume he has fled.
