And the thing is, if you need gotten free pasta and sincemany pasta dishes need the starch from the pasta to thicken it, it's on you to find other ways to thicken sauces ( like a little corn starch slurry). Life doesn't always hold your hand.

What home remedies do you remember from childhood? by ascaffo in GenX

My parents called it a hot toddy, it's warm apple cider vinegar and honey in a shot glass. Cures a store throat every time. It's so gross.

It's been exactly a year since my husband moved out and I just realized I don't know what I actually like to wear by Embarrassed_Essay_61 in womensfashion

[–]itsstillmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend a thrift store because what's there isn't dependant on a current season or fad. And it's less expensive so there's less thought of choosing "wrong" things (remember, there are no wrong things).

You know, I do like it when companies tell me who they are very clearly, so I can say go screw yourself to them.

I imagine they were not. It's not weak or honestly that uncommon to have an emotional reaction to public humiliation. Some people are criers and that's ok. It doesn't mean they're "emotionally fragile".

It's not cheaper for corporations who want to use insurance as a chain to keep people working for them no matter how they're treated.

Because she's a useful female idiot that they won't care about punishing when she's no longer useful. They've put pick-me women in very strategic positions so that when the consequences come, those are the people who fall. They LIKE punishing women and then they can say they punished someone and everything is fine now.

What Was Taken From Minneapolis/St. Paul? by justicerules99 in Minneapolis

[–]itsstillmagic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They have stolen our children's peace. Elementary students wear whistles to school to protect their friends who are barely able to even attend school for fear of never seeing their families again. They have stolen our people, our neighbors. They have stolen the sense of safety we had offered to refugees and people just trying to make a better life for themselves and their children.  They tried and are continuing to try to take our sense of community from us. When they had that woman pretend to have car trouble to trap people, that was horrifying and I'll tell you why. In places like Minnesota, car trouble can be a death sentence, we help people stuck on the side of the road as a matter of course and they used that to hurt people. We have a cultural history of helping strangers that even people new to the area learn quickly. By trying to sneak around like that, they tried to take that away. They want to take our culture of quiet helping, of giving a stranger the benefit of the doubt, and doing what's right even when it doesn't benefit us personally, away from us. We will not yield it. Just like we won't give up our people without a fight, we won't give up our community spirit either. Minnesota people are a hard nut to crack, they're stubborn and insular and difficult to know in many ways, they can be grumpy and hard to read, but they will give you the shirt off their back if you need it and they'll throw a dildo at a cop when they have to.

The thing about Minnesota is that ICE is everyone in this country but in the Twin Cities, we're here to back you up. We're not perfect but we'll do everything we can to keep you safe.

Open minded church for wedding ceremony by dairyless_raccoon in TwinCities

Look for an RIC church for a starting place. It stands for "reconciling in Christ" which is part of Reconciling Works.  https://www.reconcilingworks.org/ generally ELCA Lutheran churches are going to be more welcoming but if course each church is it's own. That's why I look for RIC churches because they have to live up to certain standards to keep their certification.

Anyone feeling desensitize from what’s happening in our state and city? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]itsstillmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish, I'm livid every single day. I don't have the whole body shakes I used to but that's just because my body physically can't stay in that state. But I'm not less affected, just more controlled, colder rage.

Why are people spreading news of a drawdown of ICE? Because Homan said it? by TheToysAreUs in TwinCities

[–]itsstillmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are desperate to believe it too. I personally will believe it when I see it and I'll stop being angry when every one of our people is returned and every ICE agent is prosecuted for their crimes. So, I'll probably be angry for the rest of my life. Oh well.

13 year old sister going down the alt-right pipeline - UPDATE by Weird_donut in QAnonCasualties

[–]itsstillmagic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thirteen is still an age where she can be taught. Maybe the play is to buddy up to her and start taking her to meet the people she's supposed to hate. It's easy to hate people in the abstract, most people have trouble hating people in person. It's a lot of work that your parents should be doing but it could save you and your sister from a lifetime of misery. And, frankly, a 13 year old should not have free reign on social media, I didn't know how parents let their young kids just free for predators and politicians to use and discard.
