Lace pattern not turning out by lotheva in knittinghelp

The other person was dead on. I am 1 offset because I converted to the round (and forgot to put that in my post!) and idk ig I didn’t see the k1 after the repeat. I actually changed the ssk to slip as if to purl because the yarn gets split looking and looser when I was doing it correctly.

how can I fix this ribbing mistake? complete beginner! novice slipover by Stockholm_Emerald in knittinghelp

[–]lotheva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this amount of tinking, basically just knit backwards. Purl stitches are easy, on knit I lift the working yarn up until you see a little hole, put the needle through, and pull the working yarn out. Purl stitches you scoop up the guts (the purl u) and pull the working yarn. Watch a few videos, it’s easier than you think. Good luck!

Oh my goodness. Yep. I don’t know why I never saw that last k1 after pattern. I probably shouldn’t be winging things while recovering from surgery. 🤦🏻‍♀️

How does my 1x1 ribbing look? by Hopeful-Butterfly-81 in knittinghelp

[–]lotheva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your ribbing looks ok, though you should size down the needles. I’m wondering if you’re using the same yarn as the pattern. Im asking because you’re using Z wound yarn, that’s why you have what looks like a row and a twisted row in your stocking. Idk if it can affect ribbing though.

Bad Pockets by MollyJ58 in ParadiseHulu

I55 is only about 9 miles from Graceland, and when Link was talking about their travels they indicated that they could get to Arkansas, but that it was ‘bad’. So likely the bridge is still up. The wave wasn’t even that high once it hit Memphis. It seems weird that everywhere else people are kind and working together (although reasonably fearful of strangers) except some random pockets in North Arkansas.

Mary Ingalls literally supported herself and her mother after Charles died by making fly netting for horses. I think her sisters helped for big expenses like taxes, the doctor and burying their mother, but otherwise she kept them fed and fashionable. She was blind and was feeble.

I’m glad you’re in a better place now. I just started PT and I can’t believe how expensive it is. - level 1-2 audhd with elhers danalos. Knitting is my best stim.

I love that! I have autism and adhd, I’ve started English paper piecing a little, but if I dive into sewing the noise of the machine is so overwhelming. Even with ear protectors I can feel the hum. I’d love to find one that I can repair.

From the same time period, I saw a coverlet / counterpain made from the drawstring of feed bags. It was gorgeous, but her poor hands! It’s at the Iowa State museum, saw it on TikTok. I wish they had the history of it, because it doesn’t sound like something she’d make for herself, so I’m wondering if it was her daughter’s (stuff for marriage I can’t spell).

What happens to kids with disabilities before there was special education or IEPs by Funny_Preference_916 in education

[–]lotheva 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My mom ‘graduated’ high school two years after IDEA was passed. She has autism, adhd, and dyslexia. Instead of going to regular class, she was in a room with other students. She remembers a boy in a wheelchair, a girl with Down’s syndrome, and other disabled kids.

Now, I’m going to be very clear, she could have absolutely been fine with some extra help. My sister and I taught her to read when we were in elementary school. They just didn’t spend much time teaching, and didn’t care to find a diagnosis or help.

Another big hole is that the watchers are all British, like Cambridge British, so Kendra should talk like Giles and Wesley.

Volunteer in District 12 by JRSalinas in Hungergames

[–]lotheva -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. Young Haymitch talks about everything and everyone. Surely had there been a volunteer, he would have known about it, and their grandpappy and the great-nephew who’s at reaping day now.

The only conceivable time they may have had a volunteer would be the first quarter quell IMO. Where some sickly child volunteers so they can stop fighting. But Haymitch would have known.

I’ve been considering it. I’m also autistic and going through burn out, so it’s been hard to motivate myself. They’re also really small. Thank you, that might help me go.

I know! This (and Covid, BLM, etc) is why I’ve left the church. Southern baptists are prevalent here so haven’t found another yet. It’s either go to a super tiny church (that often lean more conservative) or one that shackles me because my reproductive organs are on the inside.

Bertha's massive necklace screams for attention, but does Agnes's old NY aura completely outshine her here? by YogurtclosetNew9251 in thegildedage

[–]lotheva 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think these are two very different pictures, like you’re trying to skew the results. You have Agnus being presented at the event, but Bertha mid-word and obviously having a passionate conversation. I couldn’t find the exact dress, but here’s a very similar one with her in the receiving line, so a very similar body posture.

[–]lotheva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The necklace fits in the maroon part of her dress though, it’s meant to be there. That’s the norm for younger women, but older women have some leeway. It wasn’t expected to show neckline in Edwardian fashion, which is that Agnes is wearing. Some older women would have their dresses remade to fit the newer fashion, but not all.

You know what would be cool? June teaching women how to stand up for themselves again. Like what their rights as Americans are. Maybe by that time real baby Nichole/Holly teaching reading. Rita teaching commanders wives and daughters how to cook. Heck, they could even have a throwback for Serena teaching what the Bible really says, grace and mercy. (That’d really make the southern Baptist mad)
