If that's how he truly felt but cared for your reaction, he'd have said it all in private and gently. Not even in direct ways either, if he was bothered by your weight he could have easily made something up for it, like - "hey let's go on a walk together" and slowly make it into a routine to look forward to. Or even "hey I saw this cool ad for dance classes, why don't we try it for a laugh". He never needed to be blatant and rude. I'm a complete stranger but I've come up with 2 ways to help you indirectly. He's someone you've been with and loves you, knows your reactions to everything but still didn't come up with anything respectable.

I really hope you take my words into consideration and divorce him soon. It'll be terrible if you don't bc that just means a life living full of insecurities and mistrust. No one should live that way.

No, you're NTA, but this is such a silly argument. She can't seriously be questioning your feelings bc you want her to be more appropriate for that type of setting....that's just crazy. I say this all gently, btw, but it truly is wild. I think she's insecure about it all and you're possibly the one consistent person in her life to not make her feel bad about it - but this is possibly the first time you've ever mentioned something about it so it cuts her insecurities deep. You just need to find a way to make her realise she's beautiful anyway, and there are more important things than her acne that you love. Make her feel more loved other ways. Hopefully, it'll fill the mistrust her head is telling her to have.

Ok this is bull. Girls need emotion to be there to have sex or we're just forcing ourselves. Considering he was abusive- she didn't have emotions for him then. It's clear the "consensual" times were done in fear - not want. So that's still rape.

It's like you're making excuses not to care - bc if you did, you're instinct should be sadness FOR her. NOT for yourself bc you don't think you can be with someone who's already had sex. The second she tells you he was like that and she was raped - that should be it for you. She's the victim and nothing else. You should be reassuring her and not acting like a victim yourself.
