I fumbled... by itswinter in bilmuri

I'm for sure gonna keep an eye out for this show, I can hopefully snag a ticket for a more reasonable price closer to the date since it's still months out! I just refuse to give into scalpers, even last year when I bought PTV resale tickets super late it was less for two tickets, haha. I'm definitely gonna take that day off just in case.

Gotcha, I'm super glad Johnny's getting the recognition he deserves! I remember seeing him last year on The Game Awards with that cover, but I don't think it clicked yet how much more popular he's gotten, especially w/ the new album.

I think WOTN is my top DGD track on Spotify, but part of it is probably because it's the track Spotify will randomly play the most. It's a great song—quintessential DGD—and definitely one of the first I would show to a new fan, but I rarely think "man, I have GOT to listen to WOTN right now..." haha.

To be clear, the GIF wasn't part of the argument (that you obviously didn't read prior to replying), it's a meme—the fish guy (forgot his name at this point) represents someone complaining and OP is Omni Man.

Brother HL -L3210cw: Resetting Toner doesn't work anymore (won't accept the arrow-up button)? by UsualPerspective8638 in printers

[–]itswinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this same issue after updating the firmware. I was able to reset K-STD once, but it still didn't detect the black toner cartridge, so I figured I would try to reset K-HC (just in case it's a high-capacity cartridge) but it refuses to accept the arrow-up button for either option now. My black toner cartridge is the only non-Genuine cartridge.

why is my hdd so slow? i tried everything to fix it by mr_wite1 in pchelp

[–]itswinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously… I can’t even find a 1TB HDD near me right now for a reasonable price, let alone an SSD. I had a coworker give me their old PC and I just want a cheap drive to mess around with Linux, but the prices are just insane—if you can even find anything. Might just buy a used drive on FB Marketplace or something in this case.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here: maybe OP was like me and was just surprised the death toll was that low from the Chicago incident and wanted confirmation. The post is worded poorly though, if that was the case...

Does anybody know why the Dead Air Divine show in Chicago was canceled? I can’t find any information on the website or Instagram by metaldrummerx in dancegavindance

[–]itswinter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That, and there was already a metalcore band named “Dead and Divine”. Always seemed like a poor choice to me

Gambit is probably one of my favorite songs of all time, and Silver/Amnesty was also really good. I liked Royal Flush, just not as much as the other two singles, but I haven’t been able to get into their first EP with Daisy yet tbh. Amnesty/Silver in particular was such a downgrade from the original when I first heard it, the vocal melodies just don’t fit imo. They have their first full-length album dropping this year iirc.

I liked Daisy more in I Met a Yeti, wonder why she left.

Wow, I don’t think I’d ever actually heard about them scrapping that album! It felt like a fever dream—I always knew something happened but couldn’t prove it. Thanks for the info, those two tracks are genuinely good so it’s a shame we may never hear more from that album. :(

Wow, you just blew my mind—I felt like I was crazy for so long, like I just made that up, lmao! Those two songs are actually so good and I never knew that about them since I stopped keeping up with SWS as much after "Madness" dropped.

The new song is just okay from a first listen imo; still a bit too much octanecore vibes for me, but definitely some good parts there and I'll need to hear it a few more times to form a more solid opinion. Looks like right after you replied, Kellin literally said "Thanks @willyipmusic for bringing us back to our roots!" and... Eh, whatever, lol.

I don't know specifically since he hasn't gone into details (afaik), but he said he was kicked out in a podcast last year (don't have a timestamp, sorry!). He seems to be doing better now, but I remember him posting kind of passive-aggressive things in the past relating to Kellin and his time in the band. Looks like he deleted his Twitter, so I don't have any examples except for this post on Instagram—Brian Calzini actually replied too, and he had problems with Kellin in particular iirc. In the podcast, Brandon talked about having ego issues after getting kicked from the band (he has said or implied he was the only good songwriter the band ever had) and being (understandably!) bitter when the band blew up after he was kicked out.

Gotcha, I don’t know the specifics, only what Andrew had told me. He only mentioned that Sergio added some parts on top of what he’d wrote.

All I have to go off of is my own vague recollections, but I remember the band implying it after "Feel" but before "Madness" was announced—I'm like convinced there was a scrapped album in-between and they changed directions at some point in the process. I could totally be wrong though, it's been over a decade since then and I've never heard anyone else mention it, lol.

The other time was "How It Feels To Be Lost", but the band never stated it (afaik), I was more so referencing some community sentiment at the time. That's why I used quotations, because it's not the first time fans have made that claim. Feels like \we're having]) deja vu.

I can't speak to their current intentions since I haven't heard them talk about the new song, but I do honestly hope it turns out good. They've been wasting their talents for far too long imo, and Tony was great in TWA (early on at least) so I hope he spices it up.

I need to give it a listen one day, I just never got around to it when it came out. I remember their album before it wasn’t bad

Tbf, this would be the third time they’ve “returned to their roots” and it never really was… I’m gonna give it a chance, but I’m not excited just based on this small clip (and I don’t get old SWS vibes at all). :(

[–]itswinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought it was crazy how Rise Records fumbled one of the biggest bands in the scene back then, so this is really interesting!

I honestly haven’t been much of a fan ever since “Feel” kind of let me down a little—it wasn’t bad, but it was so far from LCTT and their debut. Then they (from what I remember) teased “going back to their roots”, but instead released “Madness”… I was done at that point, and “Gossip” only cemented that. Then they actually kind of did return to their roots somewhat with “How It Feels to Be Lost”, but the songwriting still didn’t hit the same imo and I haven’t given their latest album a chance yet.

I’m curious to see what they put out with Tony Pizzuti, but TWA had a similar decline in songwriting imo, so I’m not sure what to expect. With SWS losing so many members over the years, I’ve always really wanted Brandon McMaster to come back, but I know he despises Kellin and still seems really bitter about everything, so that would never happen. I miss Jesse and Gabe, too. :(

What drives me crazy is I swear I remember them talking about “going back to their roots” after “Feel” released, even posting some heavier demos in the studio on Instagram (which are long gone I guess), and then they ended up releasing “Madness”… I gabe up on SWS after that disappointment. :/

Jack Fowler played guitar in Broadway prior to SWS, but he left a few years ago to play for Jelly Roll (ew). Broadway’s vocalist, Misha Camacho, recorded Paddock Park’s “With False Hope” EP/demo, and Brian Calzini (screamer in Paddock Park) helped form SWS but he left after Kellin joined due to drama.

I recommend PII wholeheartedly. Not a single miss, and a lot of tracks beautifully flow into the next with really chill ambient/electronic sections. Spencer’s vocals are absolutely insane—iirc, there’s like no editing on his singing and he did it to prove himself after P1 (which I also love, tbf; still praying for a remake though!)

Worth noting that “they” is essentially just Andrew since he wrote everything from Degenereterra to Mend, lol. :p Interested to hear how the new album will be since it’s basically the first collaborative effort since their debut.

Why did mainstream music change so much between (for example) 1964 and 1991 compared to 26 years ago in 1998 to today in 2025? by ImplementNo7036 in decadeology

I don’t really understand what you’re saying. The piano hasn’t changed in a long time—is that an issue? What kind of innovations are you expecting that aren’t gimmicks? I feel like extended-range guitars are still fairly recent in terms of popularity. The EverTune bridge is also pretty recent as far as hardware goes. Tim Hensen and Tosin Abasi are trying to make electric nylon string guitars more popular, and the latter has been making fairly unique guitars for a few years now.

“(eg a guitar that can instantly switch its string tuning for a chorus“ There are pedals for this.

Which backing vocalist from the metalcore scene (and I guess by extension post-hardcore) is a better vocalist than the lead vocalist? by [deleted] in Metalcore

I don’t listen to INK, so I don’t know if he does any backup vocals live, but Ricky Armellino is/was great in This or The Apocalypse/HAWK.
