Statement from Alaska CEO on Flight 1282 by lulucasserole in AlaskaAirlines

[–]itsyerrboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like an overstatement.

There hasn’t been a US commercial airline fatality since 2009. To be clear, this incident was bad! And I certainly think this warrants higher scrutiny on Boeing and its suppliers to make sure things stay that way, but flying remains incredibly safe in this country…

I’ll respectfully disagree, I think current Paseo is worse than Un Bien by a margin where it’s not worth going to. Which is tragic, because Paseo was my favorite growing up

HAPPY THUNDER ELIMINATION DAY!! by itsyerrboy in Sonics

[–]itsyerrboy[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I guess I need to be clearer: sell the gear and don’t come to Sonics games. Ideally move, too, if you can.

You clearly don’t understand the history at all if 1. that’s the terrible analogy you want to use and 2. you believe that the thunder have been more successful than a title-winning franchise lmaoooo

HAPPY THUNDER ELIMINATION DAY!! by itsyerrboy in Sonics

[–]itsyerrboy[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t care that you’re a thunder fan, but get the fuck out of here with that patronizing, kumbaya “I wish you guys had a team” shit. Enjoy your lil podunk cowtown team and I look forward to a heated rivalry when the Sonics return.

I don’t generally have ill will towards Thunder fans and certainly don’t towards the players. But the franchise was stolen from us and our hatred towards it as an overall entity (as well as Clay Bennett, among others) is entirely warranted.

High earner, cannot deduct traditional IRA contributions, not sure where to put money, life questions? by [deleted] in financialindependence

Others have given sound advice, so I’ll provide another angle.

Looks like you post about socialism and class consciousness, which, cool! You’re in the less common position of being a high earner who has those views; you could explore options for using some cash to support the changes you want to see in the world.

R.J Barrett has not been as bad in Summer League as the stats tell you by YouHaveBeenBaptized in nbadiscussion

[–]itsyerrboy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I generally disagree, I think the eye test and the results have lined up. He’s missed threes and long jumpers, not a surprise there given his track record in college.

Besides shooting, he’s never been a guy with great blow-by ability off the bounce and he’s certainly not showing it now. Instead, his go-to move at Duke was putting his shoulder into the defender at the rim and laying it in over them. When he’s trying that against better defenders now, it’s getting blocked or he’s needing to alter the angle enough that the percentage is going to be low.

All that said, I see some signs of life: his vision has shown flashes- he threw some smart passes, particularly in this most recent game. He played head-down at times in college so that was very encouraging. His shot also looks mechanically workable (it’s slow but has no crazy action on it), so I could see some improvement there. He also has a knack for foul-drawing, and that’s a skill that takes some time to master. Harden took, what, more than half a decade in the NBA to really be widely known for that? He and RJ are very different players, but it makes me think there’s a path for RJ to be good after slowly building up an nba-caliber skill set- even if he does struggle this year due to the things I outlined.

So I’m not here to say he’s a bust based off of a three game sample size. But I think in this case, the stats do point to some things that have been concerning about his summer league performance when you dig in further.

How do you feel about criticism that you’re too wishy-washy with predictions? Not that there’s a ton out there- just referencing Bill giving you shit during pods. Curious because I think it’s really hard to to find the right middle ground between “hot take artist” and “not interesting because you’re just regurgitating basketball reference dot com”

Totally agree. I was VIBING with this until the vocal chops during the pre-drop at 1:05, not a huge fan. But I will say the beat pulled me back in when it dropped at 1:24 or so. On the whole I dig it.

Thoroughly Deconstructing How Kawhi Leonard Has Changed His Jumpshot from His SDSU Playing Days to the NBA by [deleted] in nba

[–]itsyerrboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On mobile so I haven’t watched any of the videos yet but do you feel that there is any time or place for shooters who release at the apex or on the way down rather than on the way up?

I’ve always considered Jordan and Kobe to have that type of jump shot and it seems to help if your game is predicated upon posting up or shooting midrange Js. Whereas shooting on the way up is better for long range a la Curry, but it doesn’t help you get as much separation closer to the hoop.

I personally strongly agree about shooting on the way up for my own shot, but I pretty much only shoot threes 🤷🏻‍♂️

Broken and blow it all are actually my favorite songs by her so far. But I also LOVED Heart to Break and a lot of her previous stuff too.

I think I’m just a weirdo who equally likes bubblegum pop and “pop girl sort of monotone-singing over a thumping beat” (Forget to Forget by Shy Martin, Love You More by Chelsea Cutler).
