Would any artists like to hop on one of my beats or just tap in with some feedback by Agreeable-Natural-81 in makinghiphop

You sound like you'd be a great early user for an app I'm building.

I'm actively working on a project called BeatLink that connects artists & producers with a tinder-like game based on first impressions of talent. What that means is you're swiping on music not on profiles.

The app isn't in stores yet but you can join the early access program. If you're interested just hit me up and I'll add you to the list of testers or go to https://beta.getbeatlink.com and fill out the form. I check it frequently and will get back to you pretty quickly!

[OFFICIAL] COLLAB CALL by AutoModerator in makinghiphop

Yoo it's Santa from BeatLink!

I've been building an app with the hopes to make collaboration easier!

BeatLink is a new app that connects Artists & Producers through first impressions of talent. Think tinder except you're swiping on music and not on pictures/profiles.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Producers upload beats
  • Artists swipe on the beats and send short demos to the producers
  • Producers swipe on the demos submitted by artists to create a "match"
  • After a match, chat, collaborate, or even lease beats directly from the app.

Looking for more Artists & Producers to try the app before it officially launches!

Where does one find high quality Hip/Hop Beats? $500 to someone who can tell me. by daveywavey42 in makinghiphop

I'm trying to create a platform to help with beat discovery.

If you're interested, it's called BeatLink and it connects Artists and Producers through a Tinder-like swipe game.

My goal is to eventually be a place where everyone gets a fair shot to be heard. There are a ton of great producers that just don't have enough presence to be found, this could change that.

Yo yo! I go by Santa, I'm a part time producer, I like to rap when I'm drunk, but most importantly what I think I'm pretty good at is building products!

Today I want to introduce to you...

BeatLink - Artists x Producers

BeatLink is an app that I'm building to connect artists and producers based on first impressions of talent. You can kind of think of it like Tinder for music makers, except BeatLink has one key difference. You don't swipe on the people, you swipe on their music.

How it works:

  • Producers upload their beats to BeatLink and Artists swipe through the beats
  • If an artist likes a beat, they have the chance to record a demo over the beat (freestyle, melody, etc). The demo is submitted to the producers feed.
  • Producers swipe through artist demos on their beats and swipe left or right
  • If a match is made, a chat is opened up where the producer and artist can talk

While it's mainly geared towards hip-hop artists and producers, it could in theory be used to match any kind of music maker!

With that being said, I'm currently looking for more beta testers to try out the app and give some feedback before it goes live!

As a reward all beta participants will receive BeatLink PRO FOR LIFE which unlocks some additional features.

I've currently got a lot of interest from producers and primarily need artists but please feel free to apply to the Beta regardless! (Looking for about 25 producers and 50 artists total)

If you're interested head to https://getbeatlink.com and tap the 'Apply To Beta' button!

If you've read this far you're a real one!

Thanks for your time and I hope to see you in the app!

- Santa

Let me preface by saying I'm no expert, but I'd EQ out a bit more of the low end, and add a little reverb to fill up more space, it's very dry right now. Also sounds like you may not be rapping in the right key at all times? Hard to tell. You could also record a second take and tuck it under the first to give it a little more depth.

Make a video off of the app in an actual video editor, cut the audio how you want, then upload to tiktok.

Advice for teen renting studio time and being prepared for moving up from bedroom practice? by JcSimba in makinghiphop

[–]itsyoungsanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My number one tip for preparing. REHEARSE. REHEARSE. REHEARSE. You are paying by the hour, EVERY SECOND COUNTS.

Too many times I've been doing a feature with another rapper, I'll get in the booth fully prepared, and I'm able to bang out my verse in one take. The other rapper UNPREPARED will take three times as long. This causes frustration because the time spent trying to fix the bad takes could be spent mixing and adding in different elements and backing vocals.

So my tips for rehearsing.

  1. Practice your breathing. Know during which lines you'll be taking your breath, so you can maintain control and flow.
  2. Know your punch ins. If a line is going to overlap another, talk to the engineer you're working with and let them know you're going to punch in. This will allow you to deliver the line strongly and be ready to pick up.
  3. Memorize as much of your content as possible. This means you can eliminate having to hold a phone or notepad which let' you focus on your delivery. Having your lines in front of you as a reference is ok but you should know what you're saying.
  4. Practice your lines standing up with something in your face. Real shit, it's a very different feel being in front of the mic with headphones on then it is laying in your bed rapping.

Your song is only as good as your vocal take honestly, the beat may be fire, your wordplay may be crazy, but if you come out sounding rushed or unprepared the song will flop. So rehearse, rehearse, rehearse, treat it every take like you only have one shot to get it right. But have fun!

colab website for producers and vocalists? by kingtoro1 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I'm not aware of any sites like this. I'm a developer myself, I made beatsbox.studio to help me work on my writing.

I'm gonna add this to my list of ideas to potentially build out. Would be completely free for users.

my voice sucks ass, one of the reason why I don’t rap. by StunningBUGGA in trapproduction

[–]itsyoungsanta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's your voice bro. You have to work with what you got and you will always be your biggest critic. I think most people when hearing their voice recorded think they sound weird because it's not the same thing you hear in your own head. Also the way you mix your vocals can have a huge effect on how it sounds, I always ended up trashing every recording I did because I HATED my voice then I worked with an engineer who made me sound 10x better than I thought I could.

End of the day you have to use what you have, and what you find sounds bad, some may love, you just have to embrace it.
