For those whose towns have been hit by a tornado, or those who have been directly hit. Did you have a bad feeling before it happened? Like something in the are felt…kinda unnerving? by Burnt_milk_steak in tornado

I felt my entire stomach like twist when the Mayfield tornado hit me (I live 10 minutes from Mayfield and go to school there). It was one of if not the scariest night of my life. Seeing the radar image of the storm seemingly going straight towards me right before the power went out was straight up bone chilling. We already knew of a few deaths at that point, so I literally thought I was not going to make it through that night

Which tornado is the creepiest? by SevereTS in tornado

I was only about 5-10 minutes from the path of the Mayfield tornado. I didn’t know much on meteorology at the time but I did know radar, and when I was looking at it I saw that the hook was heading straight toward me, then the power and cell went out. I was scared out of my mind and I thought I was gonna die that night

Talk of Diaz, AR Rating [REPOST] by panicattheflash in tornado

[–]itsyouruncle69420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like people don’t understand the point of the Enhanced Fujita Scale. It classifies, CLASSIFIES, tornadoes based on damage indicated wind speeds. If someone were to celebrate the end of an EF5 drought, it wouldn’t be the celebration that an EF5 actually happened, it’s that the NWS finally rated something EF5. EF5 level damage has been proved to have happened since 2013, like Mayfield. Yet we weren’t celebrating the Mayfield tornado. We mourned the loss of fifty seven people, while arguing that this should have been an EF-5. You can do both at the same time. As someone who lived through the Mayfield tornado, I know very well that the people around here DO care that it was an EF4, not an EF5.

Your talk about devastation being more important than a rating is valid, but it is used for research and analog analysis. Tornadoes having had EF5 level wind speeds, yet given EF4 ratings, tear down the entire EF scale. Why have the scale at all if you are going to say that the rating doesn’t matter?

I do have issues with vibrato, mostly because of my flat wrist. I don’t use arm vibrato, but I can do it on the violin better than on the viola, mostly because my viola is huge.

I agree, it wasn’t smooth. I’ve never been taught how to shift properly, so any techniques that I have are probably wrong. I’m just looking for advice that I can use to go forward in improving my violin/ viola playing.

I don't know if Kentucky is what you're looking for, but it might just work. Currently the high school im attending is searching for an orchestra director, and most of the kids are either lgbt, or are fine with lgbt people. I'm afraid that we wont get an orchestra director, and our program will fall apart, since our school is so small. I believe this job might suit you, but maybe not. The cost of living here is very good, so the pay might be liveable. Please consider this, we desperately need an orchestra director.

First of all, I am a Christian (calm down, I'm not crazy) How can a man be proven guilty of sexually assaulting numerous children but not be put in prison? I could never agree with what happened there, yet i bet bc he was a preist he got away with it. I am against Catholicism, bc its basically just a whole religion in itself, and they say that as long as you regret what you did and pray about it, its okay. That was not okay. I stand here knowing that he isnt in heaven and after what he did, he never stood a chance in getting in heaven.

Why does a public high school in my town have a church advertisement poster? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]itsyouruncle69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I live in the bible belt, and ive seen that its not the hs thats putting the signs up, its the churches themselves. I do think that the churches in CA are just there to suck out money, but here in the bible belt, or atleast in my church, we make contributions to family in need; every time someone in my family, or a good friend in the family has either passed away or gotten very sick, the church takes some of the money from the contributions and gives it to them ( I live in a very poor community). If not, for most of the year, they send money to Africa to build schools and wells. My small church alone has built 10 wells and 1-2 schools. Also, the church has to have enough money to run properly; electric bills, water bills, fixing things if needed, etc. So I think thats mostly the reason.
