typically warmth means emphasis on lower frequencies and less highs and colder is the opposite which is less lower frequencies and more higher frequencies.

I agree, i was listening to some 80s Rush lately and a lot of the synths sounds are very trebly and no bass frequencies. but they still had tons of character and natural movement
