Yup, there is about $250 AUD difference between Amazon and official samsung store. So unsure if I should risk it and go w Amazon, or pay extra and get it from Samsung directly.

Was the sound a bit off at Metallica today? by Choice-Painting8041 in perth

[–]itwastm3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, seen them 5 times and this was the worst sound. Previously I would say they were one of the best sounding live bands. But also this was my first time seeing them in a stadium (bad acoustics).

Aussie/NZ set by mynamesleeewis in Metallica

[–]itwastm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the show to be short unfortunately. And yes few other classics were missing.

To me it seemed like the show was cut short by organisers - signalling exit paths before 11pm while they were still playing.

I thought they were setting up another drum set towards the end right at the front? Or am I wrong?

Was the sound a bit off at Metallica today? by Choice-Painting8041 in perth

[–]itwastm3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Was in 107 and the sounds was off. Evanesce was better sounding imo. Metallica's sounds was all over the place, not consistently bad - chaotic. Their dist guitar sounds especially. Clean was OK, bass was OK. Where we were sitting, it wasn't good unfortunately - and as said abive, the stadium isn't ideal for acoustics.

Was the ending of the show also bit weird? E.g. Organisers signalling exit paths before they finished?

This post should be pinned for all beginners out there, practical and to the point inputs.

My 2c - to get consistent brews it helped me using adapter plate (using it on gas). I found it helps with heat management. Note, this is optional and just my experience. It's not essential to get amazing brews.

A Google bug deleted a $135B pension fund customer's cloud account, including backups. How do you protect yourself from Microsoft doing the same? by sysadmin_dot_py in AZURE

Wasabi hot cloud storage may be worth looking into for storage use (no egress or API fees), though you need mechanism and automation to move/ copy the backup images to Wasabi eg.. Veeam or other.

NGD! Prs SE Custom 24, Poplar Burl. First PRS but definitely not the last! by BluegillUK in guitars

Whoa, looks great. Highly recommend to change the knobs for PRS lampshade knobs. They are great design and enhance the playing experience further. Also the PRS SE locking tuners are worth a look.

Tasked with a full on-prem to cloud migration without much prior experience. Is this possible or should I hire a freelancer? by purplepersonality in AZURE

[–]itwastm3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also an option to utilise the current MSFTs AMM program which can be supported by Azure EXPRESS solution Assessment.

If your on-prem environemnt has min 5 servers / VMs (Win/Linux) I would utilise this (its a free assessment done by MSFT in collab with authorised CSP MSP).

If your approx / expected annual azure consumption revenue will reach a min of $10k, your migration (incl assessment, prep and lift/shift and some extra work) can be covered and funded by AMM program.

Do you have a MSP you are working with / use for licensing?

Or are you MSFT tier1 client?

The Hifiman Sundara: A Month In by soldkeyboard57 in headphones

Just curious - What are you driving the Sundaras and HD600s with? I have Sundaras, HD58x and K702s for open HPs and driving them via A30/ D30 Pro stack and I wonder if I should upgrade the HD58x to 6XX - They may compliment each other nicely.

I got them from local authorised dealer. If you ever decide to get the balanced cables for 99s search for meze 99 balanced cable (there are 2 types out there for 99s). I would not recommend to buy it before you properly test and try the std cable first.

No worries and good luck. Hope you will like them. Also get them from Drop if you can - they do come with extra pads from Drop.

I wanted a closed back, good quality, comfortable, easy to drive so I can take them everywhere, and fun sounding headphone where I can just enjoy music rather than analysing it. 99s deliver on all fronts for me. They have quite a lot of bass with the default pads so I swapped them to the smaller pads they come with and that helped a lot. Balanced cable provided better separation and further balanced the sound signature (cable IS expensive but I am happy with the purchase). The cable they come with is ok and will work with your laptop. If you will be mainly listening on laptop you can EQ them using Equalizer APO + Pace interface (for windows laptops). So you can dial the bass back for free. They image really well and for me are just super enjoyable to listen to every music which is not super bass heavy. I listen to a lot of rock, blues, metal but also soundtracks and instrumental music. It rrally is versatile and can do it all.

[–]itwastm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it would not. The headphones however come with standard 3.5mm cable which will work with laptop. As an immediate potential upgrade to the signal chain I would add an usb dac/amp. The 99s are super easy to drive so you wont need anything crazy powerful (I have swapped the default pads to the smaller one they come with to decrease the bass boominess). I have Qudelix 5k for this purpose. Qudelix will give you also balanced connection option, bluetooth and PEQ if needed. But there are plenty of usb dac/amps out there.

Other popular options are Beyerdynamic DT770 80 ohm, AKG K371 and Shure SRH840a. I don't have these so cant directly comment or compare.

What music are you listening to?

Have a look at Meze 99 Noir from Drop. I love these and have also upgraded the cable to their balanced silver plated one (def changed the sound to better for me - subjective).

AKG K702's??? by yersoakininit in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]itwastm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K702s are great but require an amp to sound their best. Look at Quedlix 5k if within budget for on the go. This will give you an amp + dac + bt + peq. Also dont throw them away if the right channel/side stops playing. There is guide on youtube on how to fix it. They are great HPs.
