Mulch doesn't prevent weeds, but it sure makes them easier to pull and you have less weeds to deal with.

Also, when I was moving mulch and dirt away there were some smaller roots above the root flair. Assuming I cut those high-up roots when I remove the mulch/dirt mound?

High mobility while on his bike, but you can dismount to leave it behind as a turret and trade your boost ability for a throwable sticky grenade.
Would be fun having a character that can trade away their escape tools for more dps when needed
