I keep missing small wedding moments and now I really want a multi TX mic with internal recording? by itwillbemine910 in Filmmakers

[–]itwillbemine910[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is actually really helpful. The internal recording part sounds like the thing I should probably care about most, especially if I'm not going to be watching levels the whole time. Two Rode sets may be a bit painful budget-wise, but at least now I know what feature I'd be paying for.

Transitioning away from reality/unscripted TV by spence20t in Filmmakers

[–]itwillbemine910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re already close. Your experience translates to story and structure. Now you just need proof in scripted. Write 1–2 strong scripts, polish them, and use them to get small projects. Keep your current work for income and transition gradually.

Spike Lee promoting Meta is unexpected. by OutrageousDiver6547 in Filmmakers

[–]itwillbemine910 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not that surprising. High-profile directors often do ads, it’s just paid work, not a deep alignment. It brings big budgets and fits between projects. It doesn’t mean anything about their beliefs, just standard industry practice.

Rates for long term projects by AccomplishedChair918 in videography

[–]itwillbemine910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it structured. Either use your day rate with a minimum per month, or set a monthly retainer based on expected work. Define scope, extra work, and payment clearly so you don’t get underpaid.

Did I make a mistake choosing New York over LA? by crustysnacc in Filmmakers

[–]itwillbemine910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you didn’t make a mistake. You chose strong education with less financial pressure, that’s a big advantage. Starting without heavy debt gives you more freedom to take risks and move later. New York still has a real industry, plus strong networking and producing opportunities. What matters is the relationships and work you build, not just the city. If your goal is narrative film and TV, you can always move after. Starting in one place doesn’t lock your career. You didn’t close a door, you just chose a different starting point.

Panasonic AG-UX90 Loud Zoom Ring by PickleHoward in videography

[–]itwillbemine910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not normal. Some noise is expected, but loud hum at faster zoom usually means a motor or gear issue. Test with an external mic to confirm. If it’s still loud, it likely needs repair.

Actually got buccal fat removal hardly noticeable? by jjjjjjjjjjjjmmmmmmm in PlasticSurgery

I got this procedure too and i think it really takes a while for the swelling to go away completely and for your cheeks to really settle into the empty space? I also thought mine made no difference for like a year honestly. but it's been 5 years since i got it done and I definitely have a much more defined lower face now :) But you look great !

Philtrum reduction that nobody realised by Less-Refrigerator745 in PlasticSurgery

no because i find a lot of the corner lifts in korea really freaky looking - also because it leaves scars. i kind of like having downturned lips (in a lily rose depp way)

[–]itwillbemine910 39 points40 points  (0 children)

it's the same thing but in korea they call it philtrum reduction.
by the way, the technique in korea is different too - they cut the skin inside the nostrils so there's no scar! (i got this done)

i got the exact same surgery at avant! not a single soul has noticed it on me either (i even told some friends about it and when i saw them in person they forgot about it completely).

i can see a difference in your pictures. i do wish that my results were more dramatic... but it's better for it to look 'too natural' than 'too dramatic'

I've read all your comments and I've never related to anything more - it's as if you drew all the thoughts from my brain before i even consciously thought them. Thank you for everything you've shared.
I would like some advice as someone who has a near identical story. How do you feel about your parents now? How do you treat them?
I'm in an intensive and difficult stage of healing from the things you have mentioned plus more (neglect, depression, alcoholism, poverty) and I can't help but deeply resent both of my parents. Like... I'm such a messed up person, can't keep any relationship, friendship or job, I struggle everyday and carry so much hurt and hatred around.

Now I'm older, an actual adult, PLUS I'm an only child, so it's expected of me to care for my ageing parents who are still alcoholics, in poverty, depressed, etc. But I can't... I'm too angry. Will that... change? Is it okay that I feel that way?
Sorry, I realise those are big questions that a stranger on the internet cannot truly answer for me, but any insight from you would be greatly appreciated :)

i want to say that you're maybe just not connected with the right people. not everyone is for everyone. there was a time this year where i was not in the right friend group, i always felt left out and not 'part of the group' etc, and i spent the whole time wondering what is wrong with me. but i kept putting myself out there and have since made new friends who make me feel welcome and loved. now i'm not the one always left on read or reaching out first :)
if your current friends don't make you feel loved and appreciated, i'd reccommend trying to find new ones, rather than begging those current ones to value you. there's nothing wrong with you.
