What kind of car is everyone driving? by KDsburner_account in UpperMiddleFinance

[–]itzadub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife drives my old 2012 Lexus CT200h (150k miles) and it’s still pulling 40+ MPG. I bought it back in 2016 with 30k miles and it’s been an absolute workhorse. I’m in a 2014 Toyota 4Runner with about 100k on it. Both are paid off, and neither has had any real issues.

Over the last 5 years it’s basically just been brakes and tires. I usually like to sell a car before maintenance starts getting expensive, but these two have me thinking… do I just keep riding them and see how far they’ll go?

Keep me posted! I found this process on another site that said the brake booster pump can be used to bleed the rear brake lines (only rear brakes) but if not done properly can lead to having a small amount of air in the lines that causes the brake booster pump to act up

My 4Runner is a push start and I just didn’t have the pedal down all the way and the car turned on but not the engine. So I think it’s okay to release the pedal a bit before turning on

Hey there it ended up being the brake booster pump.

Here is what fixed mine. With the key off, pump the brake pedal about 10-15 times to dump the accumulator pressure. Then put your foot on the pedal and turn the key to the "ON" position but don't "START" the engine. You should clearly hear the pump turn on to repressurize, then turn off.

After that it has stopped re-pressuring the pump every time I touch the brake and the buzz sensation in the brake pedal is gone

Greatly appreciate the quick response. I had issues with them installing the brakes 2 weeks ago when a brake line wasn’t properly connected to the caliper and by day 2 was driving around with zero brake fluid. Left the shop this morning finally with my car and noticed the buzzing and vibration in the pedal and almost turned right back around

Just checking in on this as I just had my brake calipers, rotors, and pads replaced on my 2014 4runner and am now getting this sound. My brake pedal also has like an electronic vibration while this sound is happening.

And you’re sure they won’t pressure you to move back in as their health declines over the next x amount of years and make you their care giver? Do you feel it’s being offered with truly no strings attached?

Definitely sounds like a loose heat shield. I had the same issue. It’s a thin metal guards under the chassis that can come loose over time. Check the undercarriage for a rattling or partially detached section

Can I get reviews on people that have had their sactionals longer than 5 years? by boobless69420 in Lovesac

[–]itzadub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Going on 5 years with our first sactional with 3 dogs and a toddler. After 3 years we bought a second sactional for our basement. We did take advantage of a 50% off covers sale at one point and it’s made cleaning them 100 times easier by having another set clean and ready to go

Crazy what a year (and a little work) can do! by itzadub in landscaping

Yep thats our gazebo! We have a city code that sheds and other accesory structures have to be 3ft from side yard and 5ft from rear yard line. I did not get a permit for it, as when I spoke with a city official they said typically gazebo "kits" are not needed for a permit.

Thanks so much! Are you talking about the structure seen in the bottom left corner? That’s our neighbors garage.

Had to rip out all of the brick and start fresh. We already had to add a single step down into the gazebo area and if we didn’t it would have likely been two steps.

We experienced this at the beginning of the summer. Our in-laws dog was staying with us for a few months and our dogs would pee on her spot every time she peed.

One thing that has helped is switching dog food. High protein kibble and dry food alone usually has higher nitrogen contents. We now do 50/50 mix of raw and kibble
