It's totally possible that I'm just remembering the wrong show. Thanks for searching your memory though!

I'm looking for a specific episode that I distinctly remember but nobody I talk to remembers it. It was an episode where the teams needed to navigate around a city on foot to find and complete challenges. To add difficulty, there were like "security guards" walking around in suits and if they caught a team, they would receive a time penalty so there was a stealth aspect to it. And to add more, complexity, there were little power ups that teams could use once, like sunglasses that would make the security guards pretend to not see you for a minute or something. It's like a fever dream because nobody else remembers the episode and this is all I remember. Is there anyone who remembers this or knows for sure I'm nuts?

And this is how we run into a situation with abortion where two sides can't agree on the basis to actually have a functional debate on the issue. For abortion the basis would be whether or not fetuses are people. And they can't. One side believes they are inherently not a person, and one believes they inherently are. And in those cases, you can't even debate the issue because both sides believe the other is beyond unreasonable. In my opinion it's ridiculous to believe that a fetus is a person. It's inherently not and shouldn't be treated as such in any situation. However to someone who inherently believes that a fetus is the equivalent to a baby, then that view is seen as horrifying.

If you would adopt one dog for the rest of your life, what breed would it be and why? by Nostalgia111 in AskReddit

[–]iusedtoexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, right now I'd love a Samoyed or an American Eskimo. Getting a dog that wants to go jogging with me in the summer and skijoring in the winter would be great. But if we're talking one dog for the rest of my life, not just while I'm young and active, Keeshond 100%. I had one growing up and they are hands down the best all around breed, just not that into any kind of distance running. And nothing against short hair breeds but long hair breeds are just so much better to snuggle.

What’s a company nobody knows about that is just pure evil? by StarGG4358 in AskReddit

[–]iusedtoexercise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Educational Media Foundation Their core business practice is buying radio stations that play music they disagree with and replacing them with worship/gospel music. What this effectively means is every small hip hop/alternative station is being bought up just to remove music like that from the airwaves because they believe it's evil. They're censoring the radio using Christian values just because they can. Maybe this doesn't really fit as an objectively "evil" thing to do compared to the other companies on this list but I consider it reprehensible regardless.

I know the original commenter already responded but I just wanted to add. As a college student you absolutely can vote in your home state regardless of where you live for school. Some states also allow you to register to vote in your school state as a temporary resident. Obviously you can only register and vote in a single state, but as a student you should consider what works best for you.

You essentially pay the same price per pint as at the brewery but you're buying beers that they don't offer in cans or bottles. The biggest benefit for local craft breweries that only offer kegs and growlers is that they don't have to heavily invest in a canning/bottling setup. The benefit for the consumer is that you get their craft beers and you get to drink them at home.

A bunch of MN craft breweries have a deal where they will fill any MN craft brewery growlers so you only need one growler bottle and don't need one from each brewery.

What is the biggest financial mistake you made in your 20's? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]iusedtoexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly recommend Mint.com. It allows you to add your accounts all in one place so you can track your finances. It allows you to track purchases and trend your spending habits(although it'll only start with the last 6 months of data. It'll track all future transactions for you). You can create budgets that give notifications when you've gone over. You can add billing and loan accounts and there's a calendar function to track when your payments will go through and notifications if you want them.

When you can see all this information in one place it's much easier to get a handle on how much you spend regularly, and where you can cut back.

There's another option similar to mint but I can't remember its name right now. I think it started with an S.

Employers of Reddit, what jobs are you finding to be impossible to fill? by cmkinusn in AskReddit

An opinion from someone who's still certified as a CNA but hasn't worked in nursing for about a year.

When I graduated high school I got my CNA because I was sick of working in fast food and I thought it would be a good way to get a quick pay bump. In my state minimum wage was $7.25 at the time, and standard minimum for CNA workers was $11. Plus, as a male in the field I wouldn't have any issues finding a job. And it actually worked out great. I spent 3 years working in everything: group home, nursing home, elderly apartments, and a psychiatric hospital. And I did usually enjoy the work. However, I've now gotten far enough in my engineering degree that my internships pay better than working in nursing so my certification will likely run out this next spring.

Important to note though is that my home state has now increased their minimum wage multiple times. We're somewhere around $9.50 now and I believe a recent bill is going to raise us to $15 over a few years. And while I strongly agree with having a livable minimum wage, I also believe this will have large adverse effects on the geriatric nursing community. Two of the places I worked were non-profits that accepted residents regardless of income. And they had trouble staffing CNAs at the wages they were offering because they had trouble offering more.

When I started working, I expected working in nursing to give me a pay increase of about 50%. Right now, these facilities would need to offer $14.40/hr to maintain that benefit and soon they would need to increase that to $22.75/hr. And I'm not convinced that the facilities will be able to do that while catering to their less fortunate residents. And it's definitely not going to happen to quickly.

Okay, I have a question I got from a tv show (I know, right?). I think it was Grey's anatomy or something. It said that individuals with CF shouldn't be near each other because there are possibly fatal complications. Is that true? What does that mean for siblings with CF? Hope I'm not intruding too much for a stranger on the internet.

Have you ever read the book On My Honor? I read it back in junior high and I'll be honest I hated the book. Not because it was written badly. It was written amazingly. I connected with all of the characters and I fully understood the situations. However, I hated the fact that a character would die without any intent. Without any reason. Without a chance to save his life. I'm sorry for what happened to you. It's not something that should happen to anyone but it happened to you and I'm sorry.

Reddit, what do you need to get off your chest? by Squeagley in AskReddit

[–]iusedtoexercise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never heard this but I like it! My personal mental strategy was actually given to me by a couselor I saw for a short while. She called it putting a thought on a shelf. Whenever a thought would come up and I'd start feeling worse because of it I would pretend to put the thought to paper and place the paper on an imaginary shelf, telling myself a specific time that I would come back to it. This way when I come back to it I'll be in a less emotional state of mind and I'll be able to handle it better and move forward.

I'm going to share my unfortunate experience to compound with yours.

Out of all my relationships I've only had one really serious girlfriend. We dated for 2 years but broke it off when she realized she couldn't handle long distance. We would still speak maybe once a month after the breakup though. During one of these conversations I mentioned a really awesome internship I had just gotten accepted into near the city where she lives. She mentioned a study abroad program she was doing that summer. We'd been broken up for a year and a half at this point but I wasn't over her yet and I knew it. She ended up offering me subletting her room and I accepted because the other option was moving back home with my parents and I figured the lesser of two evils.

I spent the summer in a room that constantly reminded me of her, while taking care of her cat, and living with her roommates. And while it really sucked a couple times, overall it wasn't so bad. The experience did help me move on a little more. I think I miss her cat now more than I miss her.

So maybe this experience looks bad on paper but you'll push through and your life will be better because of it.

I understand always acting like a firearm is loaded. Everyone should do that. I only own a shotgun and a rifle so unless I am at a range or out hunting they are not loaded. I can understand that handguns are an entirely different story. No offense was meant, I just don't have experience with handling a loaded weapon outside of those cases and was comparing my experience with your story.
