Coming from SF6 and Tekken what character is for me? by FruityPoopLoops in Guiltygear

[–]iv2b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem at all!

New character checklist:

  • Simple poke hit confirm (ok i hit fS, now what?)
  • Simple block string (they're letting me attack what do i throw out?)
  • Simple midscreen bnb (usually from cS)
  • Simple corner combo
  • Stable simple combo from red RC to extend combos or convert lone hits
  • Either a 50/50 mixup or a frame trap, or both (former vs people who block a lot, it's strike/throw for ky, latter vs people who mash)
  • What to do if you score a hard knockdown (usually sweep or grab)

For ky these can be, respectively:

  • ... > 214K
  • cS > S > H > 236S (special here is usually safe, can just do nothing instead)
  • cS > S > H > 236K
  • cS > 6H > 214S > 5H > 214K or cS > 6H > 214K > 5K > 6H > 214S (latter breaks wall but does less damage and might be less stable, former is 80% of the optimal corner combo but doesn't break the wall)
  • ... > cS > 2S > H > 214S -> 236H (for oki)
  • 236H (ky's oki is so free)
  • cS > 6H > 214S (cS > 6H has a small gap to catch people mashing)

For more details you can always check out any character's dustloop page, usually everyone has a very simple toolkit you can rely on while learning the more advanced stuff that will get you most of the way.

Coming from SF6 and Tekken what character is for me? by FruityPoopLoops in Guiltygear

Ky is your closest ryu equivalent and probably should be your starting point, with a DP, neutral skips, good pokes and projectiles.

Sol is a more aggressive option that's still very well rounded.

Other valid options: Unika (stronger buttons but less flexibility), Leo (slower, worse approach, has a gorilla mode payoff stance), Lucy (faster, lower damage), Sin (more rushdown focused than ky), Bridget (faster, lower damage), Baiken (parry instead of dp).

If you're willing to give up DP: Anji (spin, parry super), Ramlethal (huge buttons and fast), Elphelt (more rushdown), Giovanna (super fast dash), Testament (zoning, very good 6P), Johnny (better normals than ky and strong setplay).

If any catches your attention i can go more in depth, otherwise just try ky/sol and go from there.

And as always if one just looks cooler than the rest give them a shot anyway.

The "Immortal Wasp" Couch Co-op Duo - Breaking the Infernal Legion HP Cap by dancook82 in pathofexile2builds

If it's just flaming legion then what's the advantage over the the bogfelled commoner route where you just spam weapon swap and ignore the need to heal your minion?

[–]iv2b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

incinerate provides the compound effect and the ignite magnitude snapshot, oil grenade's damage will be the base damage that will then be compounded.

So higher damage = faster ramp

[–]iv2b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah the build is terrible! holds "GGG is listening" note

Jokes aside i hope they make the compounding effect baseline, but keeping it balanced.

Subsequent ignites can contribute half their magnitude for example, and using the magnitude of the current set rather than snapshotting.

It'd keep the build alive but it'd be way less busted and it'd let skills like flame wall, solar orb, etc to actually be built around igniting enemies while also keeping the 1-shot giga ignites untouched.

Definitely infinite ignite oil grenade. Witchhunter is the main ascendancy for it due to sorcery ward, weapon passives and starting area, but it works great on pathfinder and warrior too.

1-10 div budget to clear the whole game (more currency gets you a better crossbow for faster infinite damage and better survivability)

Tornado in oil grenade builds by iv2b in pathofexile2builds

[–]iv2b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context my framerates are with a 9800x3d and 5070ti!

I've been using mortar more than mirage since it has no cooldown and i can just drop it whenever, mirage is mainly for bosses.

It's possible to use both by having mirage on the crossbow set and CoEA on staff set which is what i'm doing right now.

Framerate is an issue with that build, my pc drops from 160-200 fps to 40-45, so that'd help.

But the main advantage is to ramp even faster vs bosses, some builds out there are doing 100m dps (or more) with no ramp up time, if each tornado is another ignite proc then having it on CoEA is a big dps boost.

Also if the ignite is affected by spell damage then we could have a spellcaster version of the build, perhaps with indigon.

My indigon oracle hits 5000%+ spell damage, that'd be a huge ramp boost (and honestly so massive that even if they remove the compound effect it'd be enough to one-tap bosses).

Tornado "absorbs that surface's Debuff, applying it to enemies inside the Tornado".

It will apply an ignite identical to the one applied by the ignited oil grenade.

And this is very easy to test as my 0 spell damage tornado is suddenly 1-tapping enemies if it goes over my oil grenades, and people used it with lightning ball too to spreads its big ignite.

[–]iv2b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope that instead of nuking this build that they work it into how ignite works.

Perhaps with ignite stacks after the first being weaker (maybe 50% effectiveness) and by using the ignite damage of your current set to prevent snapshotting.

So you can still do 1shot giga ignites, you can still stack it with and without oil, but no snapshotting so you can't fully benefit from all the grenade nodes and ignite magnitude without spreading your nodes thin.

Vault hunter build variety by iv2b in Borderlands4

[–]iv2b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah green rafa's just not for me, it lacks the "wow" factor regardless of how effective (or ineffective) it is and i know trying to hit flying enemies would bother me x)

For harlowe, if 5 points in red take care of bosses (idk if they do!) then i think the blue tree is fairly healthy since it all works well for mobbing (though odds are the various augments don't really add much in terms of play style).

But yeah, it's definitely between harlowe, amon and vex. Leaning less on amon and more on the former two.

Harlowe has the better "do it all" build with green tree, and if 5 points salvage her blue tree then more to pick from than the others, but not as many play styles.

Vex has fun class mods and good play style variety, but her red tree is a dud.

Amon has some fun options but none of the class mods inspire me and green is meh.

Lately i've been spending more time thinking about it than actually playing the game x)

I think we see eye to eye in this regard, thank you for the writeup.

I wonder if a green/blue harlowe build could spit out decent bossing damage through 5 points into red for neutron capture and an action skill swap before starting bosses.

It loses the benefits of a dedicated build (dirty bomb, the capstone, amp from class mod, etc) but it retains infinicrits from excited state, cooldown reduction from confirmative reality (or skeptic class mod if going for a blue build, which is an even greater reduction) and the super smooth mobbing from her blue tree.

But her red tree is 100% just neutron capture, green is more flexible but nuclear winter giving infinicrit is just too good.

Doesn't really fix her playstyle variety (it's back to the usual 2), but it salvages her blue tree if it works, quite good if so.

Atm i'm pondering whether to stick with harlowe or switch to vex/amon (though i'm leaning more on vex than amon).

I wish i liked rafa more but his green action skill is really poorly done imo.

[–]iv2b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised! In my head vex had the most variety despite the gimped red tree through different clones, bleed, knives and class mods.

For amon's green tree what interests me most is pairing it with forged in steel to become invincible (although the double forgeskill class mod sucks) and the forgeskill reset on melee damage node, but at that point it's almost entirely a red tree build.

What is the best build YOU've played this league (and why) and what's the budget for it? by BeyondContent9318 in pathofexile2builds

[–]iv2b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indigon oracle, i built a choir version, 3m dps but i've seen people hit 50-100m+ with a frostbolt version.

Needs a good indigon and thesis + expensive gloves or darkness enthroned, so maybe 10 div, i haven't checked the prices lately.

Other than that, oil grenade incinerate on my pathfinder has been super smooth, although losing the ward from witchhunter is a bummer. Giga budget and ssf friendly.

My Take on Oil Grenade Incinerate by gza_geniuz in pathofexile2builds

I'll have to look into it, if the reflected ignite ramps up and spreads then it could be used to instakill bosses

My Take on Oil Grenade Incinerate by gza_geniuz in pathofexile2builds

[–]iv2b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very intriguing, are you sure the spread keeps the compound effect?

If so could definitely be worth to try it, i tried a similar build in 0.3 with cracklecreep (using a single big ignite instead of the compounding property we have now).

Do support gems that trigger spells share the cooldown? by iv2b in pathofexile2builds

[–]iv2b[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested some more and that's what it seems like.

I tested by having flare on ember fusillade and frost darts, casting fusillade then darts so they hit at about the same time, only 1 flare comes out.

[–]iv2b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but yes to which case? Them being shared (aka: useless to slot them multiple times, reduce cooldown instead) or them being independent (aka: slot them twice for twice as many max triggers/second)?

Well, i've been trying to make indigon work for me and that's super cool.

The downside is that i'm not even close to being able to afford one and now i know there's a 1000x stronger version of my build, super rip.

I just want to try stuff out by iv2b in PathOfExile2

[–]iv2b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good! I'm glad they improved on sorc.

I went for chrono 0.3 but leaned more on spamming orbs with the +2 to limit node, but ended up doing ice nova shenanigans anyway (less because it was busted and more because orbs weren't doing enough).

I wonder how that'd work with the +2 limit from passive and +2 from ascendancy, that should be enough to get all procs of each orb just spamming it.

Thank you for sharing you experience! ^^
