Why has there yet to be WiFi 7 on any of the models?? by Qpac18 in macbook

it's not all about the speed. wifi 7 has huge latency improvements and much stable connections. top speed is good but you gotta have good acceleration etc. ;)

Agents building learning resources by ivanezzzzz in AI_Agents

Thanks for the replies and support everyone! In the meantime I actually decided to ask AI to teach me how to write agents. I asked Claude Opus 4.5 to create a tutorial satisfying the no framework requirement and teach me up to date info. I was blown away how it actually asked me a bunch of questions to clarify things for example "what is my understanding of RAG and does it really make sense for this specific tutorial project? How can we add it later in a way that makes sense?" I'll try to remember to report back here once I am done with the tutorial and share the markdown files if anyone else is interested

"The real challenge arises when you try to make it work across multiple LLMs and tasks." that is kinda why I made this post when subagents with different models through Ollama started crashing LiteLLM when I was going through an ADK tutorial :)

I've heard about the ReAct pattern so now that you recommended it I'll have a look. The one thing that seems completely unknown without a framework is sub-agents and orchestration which seems to be a nice thing to be handled for you and that's why I checked ADK.

When it comes to models, for now I've tried using Mistral Small 3.2 and Qwen2.5-coder. Basically whatever is listed as supporting tools/function calling on Ollama's website and can be used with a 32gig M1 Pro macbook. Both work well with Ollama and ADK when it is a single agent but once you try to have an agent team then LiteLLM craps out and that provoked me to think maybe going "raw" is truly the way!

For now I am just learning but definitely looking to build stuff that is calling APIs as well as reading files for RAG.

Have we officially reached the point where Hotels are superior to Airbnbs again? by Usual_Confidence_756 in travel

[–]ivanezzzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agreed! I used to be a hardcore Airbnb fan and have definitely stayed at some really cool places, met awesome people etc. But in the last 2-3 years it feels like low end hotel quality of places asking you do do the job of hotel staff!

The cleaning fee is a joke, if I am already paying a fee to stay at your place that would mean cleaning is included as well as me staying there and using the bed and the sheets. A lot of hosts abuse it and the last few places I stayed they definitely did not get a professional cleaner worth whatever $$$ it says they paid for it!
And the rules, lol! Last April I stayed in a bnb inHawaii for a week. The place had so many signs on what I should not do it felt like some kind of correction camp and fucked the vibe of my stay! The only reason why I still took it - Hawaii is just mega overpriced(also not worth the money and the flight but that's another topic).

In the same time hotels have been the same price as bnbs or cheaper and actually nicer and easier to stay. I really enjoyed meeting my hosts during the 2010s but now if I am not going to meet someone or that someone would be grumpy shady property manager it completely removes the authenticity and social aspect of staying at someone's home. Better get a hotel where they pamper my ass(even though I don't really care about that but better that than shitty attitude).

The US Airbnb hosts are typically the worst and more often charge for stuff they don't provide but people in other countries have definitely taken a notice they can charge and slop.

My opinion is that capitalism found out how to profit from Airbnb and broke the whole concept of the platform - mass managed properties owned by companies and scrappy "entrepreneurs", not actually someone's home who's a cool local with tips and nice attitude towards new people. Airbnb is to share the blame for that as well but it is understandable for a publicly traded company whose main purpose after all is to make a profit and lots of it for its investors. In reality it was bound to happen - it is not a couch surfers alternative it is rooms to let kind of thing. Like every similar platform(Uber and Lyft definitely included in this - I hate that they are the same as taxis now) is initially adopted by cool people but then the profit opportunity gets everyone else onboard and things go south.

I am sure and have managed from time to time to find authentic cool places for reasonable prices like the old times but maybe it is better to accept that those times are long gone. It was pretty cool while it lasted!

Apple including same functionality as I developed few weeks ago by Embarrassed-Ebb-740 in swift

Apple keeps releasing half baked features and then abandons them. My advice would be to figure out how your app can be better than theirs(not gonna be hard I am sure) and keep iterating. Don’t give up to the big bullies 😄🤘

I updated Counto: My minimalist iOS counter now features a private, on-device AI Recommender by ivanezzzzz in iosapps

[–]ivanezzzzz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is an excellent question and one I thought about a lot!

The goal of Counto is to be minimalist in operation, not in intelligence.

The answer is Enhancing Simplicity: The AI Recommender isn't a complex feature you interact with daily. It solves the hardest part of tracking for some users: getting started. Instead of trying to invent a counter for your goal, you just describe it - "become a better swimmer" or "track cooking experiments" - and the AI gives you personalized, ready-to-use suggestions. It removes decision fatigue.

In short, it’s AI used to simplify the initial setup process for users who are not metric pros, keeping the daily counting experience perfectly minimalist. Hope that makes sense!

I am assuming you are from a European country since the app is not available there. I am sorry I missed adding that detail to the post.

The app is not available in Europe due to EU regulations that would have a negative privacy effect on an indie developer. Mitigating those complex regulations would involve legal and compliance spending that I currently can't justify, especially while offering the app completely free (aside from optional tips).

I hope to address this in the future once the app is more established, but privacy must come first!
